fucking fascinating thing to say, Shinji, what the fuck? this child is not okay
not even funny how true this is for me
of course, like anybody else would, the first thing i did upon getting my time machine was go back in time and kill hitler when he was just a child. but when i came back a cursory google search revealed that there was some other charismatic guy called jan krupp who staged a coup and took control of germany leading to ww2. so naturally i went back in time and killed him before he could grow up and commit genocide. but i soon discovered that he'd been replaced by another guy. so i continued on this path of killing and tbh i'm not sure how many german babies i've killed at this point and it's a little hard to find old german newspaper clippings from the ww2 period anymore because they underwent a population collapse around the turn of the 20th century. best i can tell it's this weird german serial killer they called "jack-of-the-cradle" who kept killing newborns. but googling "world war 2" doesn't come up with any results so really i think all i need to do is stop this jack guy and then that'll be mission accomplished

2-YEAR CHEDDAR
from GRAFTON VILLAGE
I usually try to review cheeses virginally - that is, ones that Iâve never had before. In this case, this is a cheddar Iâve had many times before. But I couldnât leave it off the blog, what with its obvious appeal to leather and rubber fetishists.
As far as cheddars go, Graftonâs 2-year aged isnât going to shock you. Itâs mild, light on the salt, with a slightly sweet and grassy flavour. Itâs got a nice texture. Itâs dense, more moist than I expected, and smooth.
So what is the deal with the gummi suit on this cheese anyway? Well, cheese has obviously been around a lot longer than fridges. Fresh cheeses like mozzarella are too moist to last very long outside of a cold place (bacteria and fungi do so love damp places), though I donât think anyone was too mad about eating that stuff quickly. But cheeses that have been aged (and dried) more have some more preservation options, which is where cheese wax comes in. The wax is a physical barrier, stopping fungal spores from landing, and also blocks moisture and air, making the cheese a pretty unfriendly place to grow. Even drier cheeses can be bandaged in cheesecloth and then slathered in lard to preserve them while allowing some ventilation.
I gotta admit: hot wax isnât really my thing. But cheesecloth bondage and grease⌠it has potential.
this site used to be awesome
i swear to god if people don't start understanding that responding to doylist critique of a piece of media with watsonian exonerations is not an actual rebuttal
somebody saying "hey i don't like that the only gay man in this story is a weird pervert and it portrays gay sexual promiscuity as a moral failing and character flaw" cannot be rebuked by arguing about how the character's backstory or personality traits explain their behaviour. the choices made by a writer are all fundamentally mutable; somebody saying an author's choices should have been different is not going to be persuaded by an argument that takes those choices as immovable fact
I'd like us to discuss the mythology of Shakira.

my sister and her husband go see new movies a lot and a place near the theater they go to does $5 margaritas on monday so theyâve started doing marg movie mondays where they go see a movie and get a marg but they call the margaritas different things based on what theyâre seeing. as far as naming goes âwuthering margsâ was a little bit of a miss for me but it was preceded by âmargipliersâ when we saw iron lung so thats kind of a lot to live up to
people will go "why are you criticizing my behaviors? you're just dividing the community and preventing us from working against the real problem: the system" and then not fight the system

âbe gay do crime! but sex is yucky and crime is wrong!â ass website
i appreciate this, but in a world where your gay brothers and sisters are being actively punished if not outright killed for having sexâin a fascist society that is trying to make gay sex a crime and has successfully done so in the past, in ways that still harm us todayâwe have GOT to be there for gay sex and the people having it. it doesnât make you any less gay not to have sex, but thatâs not something bigots are going to take into account, and if they do, it only stands to make you âone of the good onesâ and pit you against your siblings and loved ones. whether someone personally wants sex or not, i think we have a responsibility to defend the people who do just as much as the people who donât.
Sure, but itâs not been long since this entire website was virulently anti-asexuals so thatâs probably worth keeping in mind too. We actually donât defend people who donât have sex very much at all. And trust me, the bigots donât love it either so.
i dont disagree that asexual people have faced hostility, including on this website.
âdon't stigmatize gay sex" and "don't stigmatize asexuality" are compatible positions. we can and should defend both. what im pushing back against is a strain of rhetoric that treats consensual sex as inherently suspect, gross, or morally dubious. that line of thinking is not in defense of asexual people; its a judgment of people who have (gay) sex

some hyper famous artists like Van Gogh transcend overratedness and become underrated because they're so normalized. Like I'll look at a van Gogh and I'm like wait this really is amazing you guys don't get it
Shakespeare is like this
Every time I see a Van Gogh thatâs not one of his better known pieces it absolutely blows me away
Have you seen this shit my liege? smh unreal
Analyzing the politics of a work that's meant to be apolitical is actually a really interesting exercise because it asks you to critically examine what the creator considers to be "political" in the first place. Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?
Usually this just ends up with you looking like a moron btw
Angrily lashing out at the suggestion that it's possible to do basic media analysis was foundational to the ragebait ecosystem of the 2010s, from which we got basically the entire culture of modern far right politics, btw.
I genuinely believe myself and others are being so sincere and literal when we say TOUCH GRASS
I went outside and got an education, that's where I learned that you can obtain knowledge and insight through analytical methods, then noticed that some people who sit on the internet yelling at strangers get really mad about that constantly.
So actually if you really wanted to use your analysis skills you'd realize that what people are annoyed about is the implication that there's never a story or creative work they can create that can escape people like you attempting to assign political meaning to it when they just don't want that. That in fact people's presumptions about life are not, in fact, political (at best they are cultural, which is not an inherently facet of politics). And that by you people arrogantly pushing this idea you are intruding on the fact that a lot of people use fiction as escapism from politics and insisting that "urm no actually your favourite cartoon actually has politics cause no human being is 100% unbiased" is in fact, supremely fucking annoying
"Stop having fun wrong, it ruins my fun when you have fun wrong, it's not enough for me to just scroll past the analysis I don't like, if anyone anywhere is saying that the cartoon exists in a political context that's undermining my enjoyment of it!"
That's you. That's what you sound like.
