The video, described by @holyfunnyhistoryherring, is a captioned tik tok by @thatrobinhood, showing a white guy with short brown hair and a longer beard, wearing a bathrobe, holding a drink and talking to the camera. He says, “So I was at a tractor-pull one time (yes, I am exactly the kind of redneck that goes to tractor-pulls) and this guy showed up, I guess with his boyfriend, um, I’m not a 100% sure. But he was wearing, uh, pink cowboy boots. He had homemade cut-of jean shorts, he had a, uh, flannel crop top, and he had a pink John Deer trucker hat.Anyway, one of the rednecks behind me was looking at this guy and he’s like ‘I don’t know why anybody would come to a tractor-pull dressed like that’ and the other redneck who’s behind me goes ’listen, if he wants to come to a tractor pull dressed like that, it’s his God given right. What the fuck do you think freedom, Earl?’ and now I really want a pride bumper sticker that says ‘What the fuck do you think freedom means, Earl?’”

The flags are the rainbow, bi, lesbian, pan, trans, and ace flags. The bi and ace flags have a different font from the others, but they each have “What the fuck do you think freedom means, Earl!?” written over them with uppercase black text.

Here’s a quick handy reference list or anyone who isn’t sure:

Homosexuality does exist in almost all social species.

“Alpha males” are not a real phenomenon and in fact the most aggressive males tend to be the least reproductively successful.

“Survival of the fittest” simply means that the success of a species hinges on how well it “fits” its environment. It does not mean that stronger or smarter individuals are supposed to succeed. Those things can even be a detriment in nature by wasting too many resources.

“Race” is not a biological concept. Someone who looks different from you has the same human genes, just a different grab-bag of dominant traits.

Evolution is not a march towards higher complexity, more intelligence or even more adaptability. It’s just a fluctuation of characteristics dictated by environmental pressures and mutation. A slime mold isn’t “less evolved” than a hawk, just adapted for success under different parameters.

People didn’t evolve “from apes.” It’s more complicated than that. We are a category of ape, sharing a common ancestor with the other apes.

No human on Earth is “closer” to an evolutionary ancestor than any other. We all descended from the same one.

Neanderthals were also a “sibling” species of ours. We didn’t evolve from them.

Humans are actually more genetically homogeneous than most people suspect. This is possibly due to a population bottleneck at some point in our evolutionary past. Two chimpanzees from different sides of a jungle are likely more genetically different to each other than any two human beings in the world.

Our big brains may help us use tools, but what was really principal in their development was the need for empathy, communication, and cooperation.

Humans. Are. Social. So social it drove an incredibly energetically costly increase in our brain size.  Don’t believe anyone who says its our nature to fight “every man for themself.” We’re humans, not bears. We fight for each other.

And we always have. Fossil remains are found of ancient humans who bore signs of crucial mobility impairments that lived to notable ages. Some even have sticks or other mobility aids – community care and support is our way. We don’t cast off those with impairments, we stand by them.

Human sexual dimorphism is on a decreasing trend. Our ancestors had greater difference in canine size and overall size. Our dimorphism gap has gotten smaller.

Occam’s razor is the principal that whatever is the simplest explanation is probably the most likely one. Don’t believe someone who says the reason we evolved bipedalism is so that males could carry gifts to females to woo them. Yes, this is a real ‘theory’ on how bipedalism evolved.

Skin tone is an adaptation of UV levels vs vitamin D levels. Both come from the sun. UV is harmful, so where sun is plentiful populations develop a darker skin tone for more protection. The skin needs sun to create vitamin D, so where sun is scarce, the skin tone lightens to allow more sun in. This is literally all it is.

Final thing: No one’s mind is really equipped to fully understand how long a billion years is, or a million, or even tens of thousands of years. Evolution takes place over a loooong time. Its very, very, slow, slower than we can really comprehend. We can’t “stand in the way” of natural selection by caring for our ill. We don’t need to “help” evolution in any way. It inevitably happens, but not on any sort of timescale we could possibly affect, so don’t fall for anyone that tells you not to “stand in the way” of natural selection. That’s fascism, and its utterly pseudo-scientific.

So I’m aware I haven’t really posted anything in a while but I hope this reaches someone. My brother’s name is Efren. Growing up he used to tease and make fun of me, but among all the teasing he also helped raise me along with our mom. When he was little he wanted to be an architect. But his is the story that a lot of Mexican American working class families face: either take the opportunities available to you to attain your dreams, or curtail those in order to take care of your family. He chose his family. After graduating high school he turned down full ride scholarships in order to stay and work to help pay the bills. It was just him, my mom, and me. After a couple of years we got stable enough economically that he was able to go to college, but after graduation we fell on hard times again and instead of finding work in his field or applying to architecture school like he always dreamed, he decided to stick around and help us again. It’s because of his choice to help our family that I was able to go to college too, something that for a time I didn’t think was possible. It’s because of him that I was able to apply to and get accepted into a PhD program in the hopes of becoming a professor. It’s because of him that my mom has a house to call her own. My mom and I owe him everything. Yesterday, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He’s uninsured. I’m a student, our mom works in childcare. There’s a high success rate for remission if he gets treatment, but we can’t afford it. He’s all me and my mom have, and we can’t lose him. He chose family growing up, and it’s my turn to choose him. Please, any donation helps. I just want him to come home.

I know times are tough with covid and everything so if anyone could please just spare a dollar or a reblog thatd be great. I can’t lose him.

First off, thank y’all so so much for the generosity, advice, and kind words y’all have shared. I honestly thought this might get a couple hundred notes I didn’t know it would get over 12k!!!! I’m so incredibly thankful to everyone who’s reblogged and donated and messaged me. Y’all truly don’t know how much it means to me and my family.

Now I wanna post a couple updates here. A lot of y’all pointed out that hospitals should have financial aid or pointed out some charities that could help, and for that I’m very thankful. Yesterday we applied to the hospital financial aid but they told us that he likely only qualifies for a 50% discount on their sliding scale because of income. We’re incredibly thankful for that help of course, but 50% of $30k/month is still $15k/month for treatment. I also spent yesterday applying to different cancer charities and Catholic charities and Latino charities and government assistance but ofc cancer related assistance is in really high demand and a lot of charities are strained thin because of covid and people losing their jobs.

I’m incredibly grateful for y’all’s extreme generosity, so far through the gofundme, Venmo, cashapp, and PayPal we’ve received $8,327.64 and I’m absolutely blown away. I’m in tears writing this I didn’t know people could be so generous. I know times are tough with covid and a lot of families are going through the unimaginable. This is why conservatives are so scared of minimum wage workers making a living wage (which, to be clear, $15/hour is not)--it would force all employers to start paying employees a more reasonable fraction of their value. Trickle-down economics is a sick joke, but trickle-up economics is real.

Raise the standard for the lowest paid workers, and THE STANDARD GETS RAISED FOR EVERYONE.

One of the best workers on my team is on parole for transporting drugs and we literally had a party for him when he graduated from his halfway house. (Well, “party.” Because of COVID it was more like “we brought you a cake and you can control the aux cord tonight,” but the thought was there.) I’ve worked with multiple addicts and trained a former gang member to become a shift leader. We don’t give a shit if you have a less-than-pure-as-the-driven-snow past. Porn is hardly a blip on the radar.

There is no reason that “this is illegal/legally gray work” should count against her. This is ENTIRELY about optics and “the customer is always right” gone insane.

Okay so here’s the story behind this beast of a webpage. I had an old resource page on Heathenry lying around that google ended up indexing. Since people were finding it, I’ve updated it to be a complete overview of Norse Pagan practice, to the extent of my knowledge.

This page is still something of a work-in-progress. It’s still missing a few things and needs better optimization for mobile devices (hope you like scrolling!) but it’s up and running!

Just a lil back story. Growing up in my teen

Years it became a nightmare to see chin and upper lip hair grown. I was 16 and my life shattered. My dad’s genes started to pick up. I was taking hormones on and off behind my parents back so whenever I went weeks without hormones hair would grow in dramatically and I’ll would shave, nair, pluck and wax. I noticed shaving caused me huge texture acne problems, not only because of puberty but because I was on and off of hormones. I didn’t realize this until I noticed how people would treat me now that my skin was bumpy everywhere. I decided to find a solution by talking to my doctor about prescribing a topical cream to put on the affected area of my face. It was my whole face from the neck on up that had the texture acne. Once I noticed results of the texture acne disappearing I made up a strict skin care routine. To keep up the appearance. My skin clearing up was not only a dream but it was becoming my reality. I started taking hormones consistently at 18 years old which helped, skin care was amazing. When the pandemic hit i couldn’t keep up with my strict regimen. By the looks of it my skin knew my regular activities that kept me active had completely died down. I started breaking out in certain areas which would trigger me to look back at my teen years and see folks laugh, poke fun and point at me. I couldn’t afford to get my waxed (which to me was the only solution, it didn’t cause me to break out and my face loved it) Hrt and testosterone blockers had slowed down the growth of my hair dramatically. So the little hairs I had would be waxed away. As the pandemic became clear as day we can’t break out of quarantine. Hair started to grow in and it started to trigger me. I couldn’t allow that to happen. I became obsessive yet again about the growth of this facial hair. So I started shaving again and that was biggest mistake I made. I noticed a dark shadow appeared it seemed more darker than usual. I think because of the lack of sunlight my skin was not as dark as it gets from being active in the sun. So any 5 o’clock shadow I had was more visible to me. It makes me dysphoric as hell, it makes me paranoid as fuck!! I had to go with the fact that I am a woman so I can’t have facial hair. Only a select few knew about the insecurity I have when it comes to facial hair. It’s honestly the pressure to conform which to me works for me. Not only because of choice but also I feel more comfortable and safe. Currently in 2021 I decided to go fully undergo treatment to remove all traces of hair on my face. I think it’s time to use something more permanent isn’t the long run. I looked on Groupon and I found an amazing place and deal. It was highly recommended by another trans woman to go there. The price for laser is $446.00 at the moment. If you know Groupon you know the prices jump and down. So I decided to raise $525.00 to go towards laser treatment. Gofund me does take a fee out so I want to be as cautious as possible. All funds will go towards my laser treatment and if any funds left will go towards future needs.
