I agree that it hosts people who are objectively terrible people. And every library will have copies of works done by transphobic, racist, and pedophilic assholes. The glory of AO3 is that YOU CAN FILTER THAT STUFF OUT.

Y’all really don’t understand that when you try to censor things, they don’t go away, they just get harder to filter out because people will give them new names. You think if AO3 bans the pedophilia tag, that the people who write that stuff are gonna go away? No, they’re just going to find a new name for it. There is a reason smutty fics were once called lemons you know. It was a code word that couldn’t be easily filtered by censoring website.

And also, you forget that censorship leaves the decision of what to censor up to humans who may have differing agendas. What’s to stop them from removing all trans content, even the positive stuff, because not all trans people have the same desires for their representation?

Once they decide that racism needs to be purged, what’s to stop them from also removing stories about fighting against racism, worrying it’ll be too divisive to keep?

I understand the desire to remove those things. I wish those people who glorify pedophilia and racism and tons of other things would just get off the Internet. But they won’t, and fighting against them in a systematic way is doomed to failure.

With that in mind, we’re all gonna remember that JKR is a terf who has literally been cited by legislators engaged in legislation that actively harms trans people, and we’re not gonna give her any more money.

That means not streaming the new show on Netflix, because regardless of how much influence she has on the production, she gets paid for it.

We’re gonna make the show flop. We’re gonna show Warner Brothers that we don’t forget (of course, how would we forget, it isn’t as if she’s stopped), and that their business association with terfs is no longer profitable.
