by the way the new tamagotchi characters they release suck shit because they're scared to make them a little ugly. all the original gotchis looked like a slightly cleaner redraw of some weird guy a kid would draw. now every time I see new one all I can perceive is Marketability. like yeah sure it's fine it could be a snack brand mascot or something. but it's not a tamagotchi

I've spoken about this before, but I run a (miniscule) company that sells niche software. We make a small product quickly, push it out, and if it has an audience we get feedback from that audience and add features.

We got just barely big enough to hire an extra programmer, and we found one whose code seemed great. We quickly found out they used Copilot and ChatGPT extensively to "speed up their process." Well, it turned out that made them great at launching new software but terrible at maintaining it. If there were any bugs, they had to argue with the AI instead of fixing it themselves. If we wanted to expand features, they were practically starting over.

So we told them no more AI. It didn't reflect well on us as a company but it also clearly doesn't fit our business model. Well, it turns out that if you outsource those skills to a machine you lose those skills. This person with 10 years of experience had completely forgotten how to program entirely. It took them days to accomplish what should take an afternoon. We had to let them go.

With a heavy heart, I come to you all with the news announced by close friends of Cat Frazier that she had passed away on Monday, June 29.

She had been running @animatedtext since 2012, with her impact on the internet SHAPING tumblr. If you have a years long history on this site, you’ve seen her art.

She ran a venue in Oakland called Oakland Secret, a punk venue where I’d vend at regularly as an artist. She made a safe space for queer artists, artists of color, and local furs too. I am forever grateful for her work both in the Bay Area creative scene and online, and am forever changed by the totality of her impact.

Also, Mr. Aldrin had an active military career before his astronaut days and i'd say he hasn't forgotten how to throw a damn good punch -- just look at his wide stance

at the time, Aldrin was 72 years old, 6 foot 2 inches, and 250 pounds. Sibel (the man he punched) was 37 years old

Sibel has made multiple "documentaries" about the moon landing being fake and has repeatedly harassed the astronauts involved, in this instance getting Aldrin to agree to the above meeting by pretending to be doing an interview on space for a Japanese children's television show

Buzz Aldrin's step-daughter was present, and in addition to being poked repeatedly and aggressively with a bible (Sibrel wanted him to swear on a bible that he went to the moon) Aldrin felt the man following them into the hotel refusing to leave them alone might pose a threat to her

charges against Aldrin were either dropped or never filed, based on Aldrin's lack of a prior criminal record, witness accounts of Sibrel's having drawn Aldrin to the hotel under false pretenses, Sibrel's aggressiveness before the punch, and Sibrel having declined to seek medical attention and sustaining no obvious injury visible to witnesses during the incident
