thought about that quote "homosexuality exists in 1000+ species, homophobia only exists in one" but how awkward would it be if we discovered another species that was homophobic
"homosexuality exists in 1000+ species, homophobia only exists in two. what? oh, humans, and the yellow-patched cuboid pinecone wren that was recently discovered on an island off the coast of canada. they're fucking bigots"
obsessed with how fixable society is, on a structural level.
obsessed with how all you need to do is throw money at public education and eliminate most standardized testing and you will start getting smarter, more engaged, kinder adults. obsessed with how giving people safe housing, reliable access to good food, and decent wages dramatically reduces drug overdoses and gun violence. obsessed with how much people actually want to get together and fix infrastructure, invent new ways of helping each other, and create global ways of living sustainably once you give them livable pay to do so. obsessed with how tracking diseases, developing medicines, and improving public health becomes so much easier when you just make healthcare free at point of use.
obsessed with how easy it all becomes, if we can just figure out how to wrench the wealth out of the hands of the hoarders.
i've lived in four different cities in my adult life and talked to literally tens of thousands of people about politics and the change they want to see in the world and the overwhelming majority of them wanted life to be better, happier, easier for everyone, and dreamed of that world. the only people who didn't think that way were A) really obviously in need of mental/medical care, or B) rich.
wanting universal free healthcare, well-funded public education, and social support for all people is the most unbelievably normie opinion that exists, even among people who have lots of bad or misguided opinions about other things. when you feel alone, know that the reason you feel that way is billions of dollars are being spent to obscure the fact that you are in the majority.
this was going to be in the zine but the plot got away with me so I don’t have time to make another 1,000 page comic.
I will push out a zine if it kills me but this is at least proof ideas are being had.

I’d really like to rant more about how our society establishes hierarchical tiers of love and devalues platonic love and how this impacts ace people but I have no idea where to start because it’s such a complex topic, especially in fandom spaces, and how the “it’s platonic” angle was used in history to devalue and dismiss other queer interpretations, especially gay and lesbian relationships. So of course people in queer spaces get cautious when a platonic interpretation is brought up, because it reminds them of decades of bigots insisting they’re wrong, sinful, etc for interpreting them as romantic, and platonic is the only “right” interpretation. Not only that, we are still in a tumultuous climate with LGBTQ+ rights constantly on and off the ballot, and people still fear coming out of the closet not only due to the legal discrimination but the harassment they may face. Thus, it is imperative that we destigmatize queer relationships, that we encourage them to make queer people feel safe and supported.
I believe that we are absolutely capable of achieving that while also creating a space for acespec people that doesn’t devalue friendship. “Their relationship is ‘more than’ friendship,” is upsetting as an ace person to hear because friendship, to me, is the ultimate and absolute tier of love, support, and joy. There is no higher connection. And just because I don’t experience romantic love doesn’t mean that it doesn’t matter, but I want to elevate friendship to that same tier of importance our society sets for romance. I ask that we reevaluate our viewpoint of friendship and not push it aside as if romance and friendship can’t be as important to each other.
Basically, this is a long winded way of asking people to not say, “There is no platonic explanation for that.”

it's the early 1700s. u have a close friend and he asks about ur trauma so u say "okay well here it is. remember my dead wife? well she was another guy's wife when she and i first got together. the guy didn't mind tho bc he and i were ALSO in crazy love. when his dad found out we were in crazy gay love he killed him. so my crazy gay love is dead now which is why im raging a war against the english empire"
and this mfer goes "well this is of immediate concern for me not because of the gay thing but because at least three times now the person who loved you most ended up dead. and i am the person who loves u most rn. BUT i am incapable of dying so this means ill eventually have to kill you (???). which makes me sad"
yeah and it's THIS GUY
BLACK SAILS (2014-2017) + SEVERANCE (2022—)
Odysseus fought hard for 20 years just to see his wife, his sins weighing on his back, unsure that his wife would be able to even look at him much less view him with love in her eyes. So when he asks, he is expecting her to be hesitant, to be unsure, he might have even been expecting her to turn him away. There may have been a part of him expecting her to have moved on and married someone else.
But Penelope hears him asking her if she might be willing to fall in love with him again and is offended. Like genuinely offended. Thats why she makes the statement about the bed, the one LITERALLY ROOTED INTO THE GROUND. Because she needed to show Odysseus how ridiculous his request was.
She spent 20 years waiting for his return, doing EVERYTHING in her power to make sure she would see him again and keep their son safe. She loved and trusted him so much. The thought that she would need to re-evaluate her love in the slightest was insane.
Odysseus understood and needed to hear that, and hearing that not only was she capable of loving him again, she never for a MOMENT stopped loving him. Neither of them EVER stopped loving eachother.
This, this song "Would you Fall in Love with Me Again" Just maybe the GREATEST depiction of a truly loving relationship I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in fiction.

Watching bridging the rift and they showed the making of the post Silco takes over backshot and the way it was generated makes them look like it’s their darkest days…not that they won. Which fitting.
Silco is on the ground holding Powder. Seveka looks tense. And the lackeys are just staring blankly. It’s a beautiful shot and shows how much thought the animation company put into this.
I love how Isha’s body language completely changes from Act I to Act II; just the way she holds herself is so completely different and it’s all because of Jinx.
Isha in Act II is so much more confident and self-assured; now, arguably she’s way too confident, considering how willing she is to throw herself into the fray, but nonetheless it’s more of a positive change, than a negative one.
Isha is also beyond sure of her place in this new/old family dynamic developing with Vander and Vi, despite her being the only new family member, and that’s because she had zero doubts about her place or importance in Jinx’s life.
Jinx did that for her.
Jinx gave this little girl a life where she learned the world/Zaun was a fun, bright, and exciting place worth fighting for and protecting.
Which wasn’t Jinx’s intention in the slightest as Jinx wasn’t interested in playing the hero – largely because she was scared of something happening to Isha. Jinx was happy with her new life and she didn’t want to jinx it.
But despite Jinx wanting to ignore everything happening around her, Isha 100% believed in Jinx and wanted others to believe in her too; and I just...
Just look at how different the two scenes of Isha putting herself between Jinx and a family member who was about to kill her; despite all the similarities between the two scenes, everything about Isha is completely different, despite her doing the same thing in both scenes.
She changed and grew so much as a person and it’s all because of the life Jinx provided her with.
And I just...
My heart hurts; I just love them so fucking much!!!!
Hi hello everyone :D🧡
So a while back i made a post about Cybertronians witnessing humans being feral when in fight or flight response or how humans act when we are on adrenaline in general because i really like this idea. But hear me out- :D
Protective, scared and angry human = very scary human
We all have this natural need and drive inside us to protect. Wether it's the person we love, family or friends. I myself am very protective when it comes to anyone i love. I would throw myself in front of a bear if i had to. Or i would fight anything and anyone if i had to protect the people i love.
Now imagine if the human was the size as an average cybertronian: (slight warning for blood at the end)
It’s cute guys
nothing but respect for MY lesbian big cat couple
This is actually hella interesting, bc in simple terms, tigers are extroverts and lions are introverts. There’s more to it, but that’s the gist.
Whenever zoo’s tried to put lions and tigers in the same enclosures, the tiger would eventually try to groom the lioness and play constantly. The lioness would lose patience and snaps at them
So basically what I’m saying is that you have a regal and refined gf who stands at the edge of a balcony during parties, sipping champagne
Then you have the other girl who drank all of the little flutes on the servers platter, and is now drunkenly pointing at her gf and telling everyone that that’s her gf and doesn’t she look beautiful I love her so much
You drew them in the corresponding ethnicities for their Geographic locations!!! Bless you, you have no idea how sick and tired I am of white human lion king characters.
This post is deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant as certified by the National Shitpost Registry.
This is some of that top-shelf, straight-up, good shit. Bless these big cat lesbians.
I’m so sorry, that lion is the tiger’s daughter. No lesbians, but it’s a super interesting case.
Tiger Momma adopted the Lion Baby, and while tigers leave their mothers when they get old enough, lionesses always stay in the pride and help mom raise her new babies. So the lioness stuck around to help mom so she could get a good grade in Daughter, and Mom basically shrugged and was like ‘weird, but okay’.
The super cool thing is, the tiger with the lion daughter was so much more successful in keeping her children alive pretty soon like half the tigers in the area were all her babies. They left her territory, but most set up shop in adjacent areas. This was because her overachiever lion daughter also wanted a good grade in Lion Pride, and stayed friendly with the siblings she helped raise to the point where she would attack intruding tigers who tried to go after her siblings, even after those siblings were grown.
And I’m talking ATTACK. Female lions will fight like hell to protect their babies and sisters, even one-on-one against an adult male lion 50 pounds heavier than them, if they feel like they have to. So a tiger sister would see another tiger and go ‘no I don’t want to fuck you’, and her lion sister would hear her yelling and be like
It was basically an accidental experiment that resulted in a loose, friendly kingdom of related tigers centered around their mom and a lion, and helped show how successful the ‘build a pack’ strategy was, evolution-wise. Mama Tiger accidentally changed the genetics of an entire population of tigers because she had a daughter there to help keep her babies alive.
So next time some dude-bro crypto asshole starts talking about how survival of the fittest is really survival of the selfish, maybe mention how discovering the power of cooperation made a regular tiger into the queen of a tiger kingdom
#that lion is the tiger’s daughter#momma loves her weird tiger daughter#sorry no lesbians but still cool#I like to think about a random asshole tiger coming in trying to start some shit with a younger smaller tiger and suddenly LION#who the fuck invited the lion and why is she kicking my ass

It's always a trip seeing post-Homestuck webcomics try to emulate Homestuck's narrative structure without understanding that Homestuck's narrative structure only worked because of its extremely rapid update schedule. Like, yeah, you've got the whole elaborate acts-within-acts thing going on, but your comic has been running for nine years and you just hit the halfway mark on Act 1; I think maybe some reassessment is in order!
Like, you're doing this for fun and don't owe anybody your productivity, I totally get that, but you understand that if we compare your planned outline with your demonstrable rate of production, statistically you will die of old age before reaching the first intermission, right?
To be clear, this is not ragging on anybody for their update schedule. This is pointing out that if Homestuck had averaged three updates a week over its run – itself an extraordinarily aggressive schedule for an indie webcomic! – it would have taken fifty years to publish. Andrew Hussie is a freak; don't put that expectation on yourself.
(Well, Andrew Hussie is a freak and also made extensive use of unpaid fan labour, occasionally in ways which arguably violated child labour laws, but that's a whole other topic.)
on andrew hussie's insane production output and unpaid fan labour, walkaround programmer (and accomplished developer) gankra recalled:
I can't emphasize this scramble enough. Andrew was a ceaseless content machine, and I don't think I was ever "blocked" on him producing content. Which is ridiculous considering how much content is packed into our games. (like, hundreds of pages of dialogue)... I honestly pushed myself too hard here. I don't think Andrew really understood how hard this stuff was on me; I think he's a good enough guy that he would've given me more space if he realized what I was doing to myself. But he's just so productive and I burnt myself out really hard trying to keep up with someone who, ultimately, was my hero that I didn't want to disappoint. I have two intense nega-tive memories from working on homestuck: * Begging Andrew (I think I was in tears irl) to just wait another day for me to finish one of our pro-jects, because he wanted to start posting more pages of the story (he was that far ahead of me). * Being so stressed out from working on one of our projects that I went to a party and drunk myself sick (I normally don't drink alcohol at all, for context)
tauhid bondia, a cartoonist friend from their gangbunch days, said:
We [Gangbunch] would often marvel at his [Andrew's] ability to start and then inexplicably finish things... Because he is a machine made of metal and lubricant.
it even got to hussie sometimes. from homestuck book 3's commentary:
This potato is RED FUCKING HOT! Gotta keep moving, keep writing, keep posting, posting, POSTING! This is how you do it guys, you never let not knowing how something looks or how a thing quite works yet stop you from making stuff at a dangerously unhealthy clip. You JUST. DON'T. STOP!
pretty intense stuff
Yeah, I'm seeing folks in the notes going "oh, Homestuck could do that because it was basically just a sprite comic" like, no, Homestuck could do that because Andrew Hussie is some sort of high-powered mutant, and for the later, more complicated bits he also had a whole team of unpaid assistants in more or less permanent crunch mode backing him up. A webcomic running separate morning and evening updates every day of the week for months at a stretch is not achievable under reasonable working conditions, and if you try it yourself you will die.
Nowadays Homestuck is known as the hiatus webcomic, but you need to understand that at its peak, it was known as that weird comic that updated MULTIPLE PAGES EVERY SINGLE DAY. The first five acts were posted in a little over TWO YEARS. The trolls were introduced ONE YEAR into the comic's run!
I find that folks whose experience with webcomics started with Homestuck tend to have a deeply warped notion of what a normal update schedule looks like. "But Homestuck had multiple year-long hiatuses" yeah, and that's the normal part. That is a thing that normal webcomics do. Homestuck was unexceptional for its hiatuses. It's everything else about Homestuck's production that's unhinged, often in ways that prompt genuine ethical concerns.
It feels like calling it a webcomic is doing a disservice to both webcomics and homestuck. The thing that it was, a rapid fire shitpost narrative driven by audience participation, was a forum post format popularized on 4chan and it's derivatives. (Hussie wasn't posting on 4chan, but neither was he unique, and 4chan derivatives have to date cranked out approximately six million examples of the format independent of the MSPA forums) People have been arguing about what to call that kind of content for two decades, but the trend of calling any sequential art posted on the internet a 'webcomic' is an oversimplfication that fails to recognize the unique pressures of the format. Hussie started out doing forum quests, where rapid update schedules and audience participation were the way you maintained relevance when your work was posted in a most-recent-first display medium. 4chan industry staples like RubyQuest and DwarfQuest would routinely post twenty updates in a night, call a chapter over when the thread hit the soft post limit, and then disappear for a few weeks or months to have a life. Likewise, the first few MSPaint Adventures updates were produced single digit minutes apart over the course of an hour. That's the format Hussie learned, and that's what he continued to do even when his own website that had no resemblance to a forum. It's giving people bad ideas about how to format a webcomic because it's not really a webcomic is what I'm saying.
