my ocd after itâs convinced me to perform a compulsion in public:
OCD paid study
Hey I wanted to let everyone here know that there is a paid OCD study going on right now, I believe itâs taking part in most places in the USA. I know for a fact it is in Seattle as I had signed up and got a appointment tho I had to cancel it for the time being since I was Just going to start therapy soon and they seem to need people whoâve been doing consistent treatment and not recently starting/stopping things
https://ocdtrial.org/
Or if youâre in Washington state near the Seattle area they told me you can call their number directly at 425-453-0404Â Just say youâre interested in the OCD study.
I hope this helps someone out there struggling! itâs extra nice that they compensate you for your time too!

If youâre the kind of person who spends the first ten minutes of the Lyft ride to the airport worrying that you accidentally left the oven onâeven if you didnât even use the oven that dayâyou can quell your anxious brain with a quick smartphone precaution.
âŚbefore leaving the house, take a photo of your stove and oven dialsâor your thermostat, or your iron, or anything else you worry about accidentally leaving on. If your brain starts to play the âDid I really turn it offâ game, you can simply tap your photo app and see for yourself
Reblogging to save a life
this is a good strategy
I can imagine this being incredibly helpful for some people with OCD, as well as folks like me with anxiety disorders combined with ADHD (so lack of executive function which leads to frequently forgetting things which leads to legitimizing the fears from the anxiety since a lot of the time I DID forget The ThingâŚ)
One of the worst things about having OCD for me personally, is that even in my dreams I canât escape, in my dreams I have to listen to it, I just want a single moment of silence where my brain isnât screaming at me to do something I donât want to.

"Shit like this invalidates our very real experiences."
I always have such difficulties in group settings, like at parties or bbqâs, I just feel awkward and out of place because I canât eat anything there (I donât know who made it, if they did all the âproperâ steps to make sure itâs âSafeâ) I canât shake hands with people or hug them (And so many people are so huggy now a days it feels like!) So I worry people end up just feeling like Iâm being rude or standoffish or having a bad time
Has anyone else had this happen, for one reason or another you have to tell someone you have OCD and what kind of ocd it is/what bothers you. And they just... IMMEDIATELY do the thing you said triggers your OCD and go âOh so this bothers you/does this bother you?â
This is why I have trust issues
Sorry for the lack of updates on this blog! My OCD has gotten, really Really bad lately and I admit when my OCD really flares up I avoid even thinking about it or looking up things about it, I guess I try to pretend itâs not there in hopes if I ignore it itâll go away? (Spoiler it doesnât work)
Iâve had a lot of asks, people whoâve needed help or someone to talk to, Iâm very sorry to those I havenât answered, I hope youâre doing ok out there and I hope you found someone to talk to when I wasnât there to respond.
Iâm going to make a real attempt to be more active on this blog both for myself to be able to vent about my problems to those whoâll understand, and to be here for people struggling with OCD themselves and feeling like theyâre alone
âIâm struggling with really severe thoughts about quitting work or doing something stupid to get myself fired. This is a new obsession for me since I recently started working. Is this normal, for new obsessions to pop up? Sorry, I have only been recently diagnosed .
Iâm no expert so I canât say with 100% certainty it is, but I know I myself have had my obsessions/compulsions change and shift over time and have had new ones pop up!
My ocd has also lead me to nearly quitting or just wanting to get fired, my best advice for this is when those thoughts start piling up, try to find a distraction, something to redirect those thoughts, think about the positives of having the job and focus on those! OCD sucks butt to deal with but with time you can learn to cope with it and work through it!

I saw you have contamination OCD. I do as well, I think about the cleanliness of people and wonât touch them, or things theyâve touched. I worry obsessively about STDâs and struggle a lot with food in fear of getting sick. The thing is, I go through stages where Iâll be really pedantic about my house, and other stages where I donât care how messy it is because itâs my âsafeâ place and only my germs exist in it. Is that normal?
Oh Iâm the exact same way! sorry for the late response anon! But I get exactly what you mean my house is often quite messy but Iâll still have âsafeâ areas so I think for contamination OCD that relates to people at least in my case and other people Iâve known thats pretty common!
My 28 year old sister is currently in an extremely severe OCD state, and we are trying to get her the treatment for it.
Hey everyone, it would mean a lot to me if this fundraiser could get around.Â
âMy name is Ahava/Adrien, and Iâm starting this fundraiser to support my older sister.
Hayley is a 28 year old trans woman diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and in the past few years it has been at the most severe point in her life. This started with her leaving her studies to come home and live with me and our parents again, and since then, though she has had her ups and downs, it is  clear that the therapy and support from us she has access to are limited, and her needs are far past our current budget.
Supporting this cause would bring such a dramatic change to my sisterâs life, and greater ease to my familyâs as well. My dad workâs a minimum wage job, and my momâs job has been extremely shaky in terms of how much she brings home recently. I am currently in my final year of high school and working on my studies as best as I can, and cannot afford time to do much money making work at the time.Â
I do believe that every dollar counts, and taking the time to read and share my sisterâs story already makes a large impact. We are already working on getting a percentage of the money covered by other family members who can afford it, but we definitely need all the help we can get! Thank you for reading.â
Please share this, even if you cannot contribute!
