The really unfortunate thing about mental health progress is that sometimes you realize you've made it in the form of "wow, I haven't felt this bad in a fucking while"
On the one hand it's a bit of a pick me up in a dark place to know that this will pass because it has passed before on the other hand sometimes it isn't entirely a pleasant thought to go "wow, I used to feel like this all the time. That was pretty fucking bad. It's pretty bad right now too also."
Someday your current baseline will be the sort of thing you consider A Really Bad Day. It does get better.

the thing is that when you decide to watch lars and the real girl all you're gonna know ahead of time is that it's a ryan gosling movie from 2007 about a grown man who orders a sex doll online and treats the doll like it's his real girlfriend. and naturally you'll go "what a strange premise for a romcom! surely this movie will primarily be making jokes at the expense of Guy Who Pretends His Doll Is Real." and then 1.5 hours later you'll be sobbing at your stupid kitchen table about family and community and positive representations of mental illness. and youll go what the fuck just happened to me

This work is about the joy and freedom that come with deconverting from an oppressive religion. I hope you enjoy!
Debates about belief/religion are not welcome. If you disagree, just keep scrolling :)
every day it gets harder to have a relaxed jaw and decent posture

When someone tells me I look tired I don't get offended I'm like thank you for noticing my anguish
this probably sounds silly to people who didn't grow up evangelical, but i was raised with the belief or impression that virtually everyone in the united states used to be a christian, and that atheism or agnosticism was a more recent phenomenon.
SO now when i see characters in historical fiction media or read about real people who were firmly atheist in like, the 1800s, i feel...comforted and reassured. which again, probably sounds silly, but i used to feel so disappointed when i found out a character i liked, real or not, didnt believe in god.
