No one in the entire world hates Bruce Wayne more than Danny Fenton. Danny has know the guy for almost a decade now and he can honestly say that everyone in gotham are idiots if they think bruce is an airheaded playboy. The guy is an asshole.
Danny moved to gotham after college and used ghost king money to start up an aerospace engineering firm. Its great. He gets to do work he loves and he is his own boss, which gives him the flexibility needed to still deal with ghost shenanigans. When danny got settled he started up a collection for his favorite show 'Gray Ghost', he'd been introduced to it when his dad got the vhs copies thinking they were haunted. He had loved it ever since and finally he had the money and space to get some ultra rare memorabilia.
Unfortunately, someone always beat him to the punch.
Bruce. Fucking. Wayne.
He found a mint conditon poster? Well guess who bought it hours before for three times the asking price?
He bid on a signed copy of one of the scripts? Well guess who outbid him at auction?
Its always fucking bruce. Danny hates that guy. Honestly seethes at him whenever they are at the same event, which happens more often than he'd like. Sam makes sure that danny attends and donates frequently to charities. Charities that Bruce happens to always support as well. And of course the guy cant resist one upping him there too. Always donating at least double whatever Danny does. The little asshole.
And then Bruce takes in a ward. Danny doesnt think its sweet or anything. Its obviously a ploy or something. Sure the way he clearly dotes on the kid is cute, but he clearly doesnt spend that much time with the kid since the guy still finds time to get to Gray Ghost Merch before Danny can. The little shit.
Meanwhile Bruce is juggling being Batman, Brucie Wayne, and now being a guardian to Dick Grayson. On top of that he has to manage around his crush on the one other truly good philanthropic man in gotham that has the same love of corny detective shows as him. Daniel Fenton is on the forefront of scientific discoveries and always gives away money to the most worthy causes. Bruce has tried to talk to the guy at galas but Daniel seems to hate him. Which. Well. Isnt exactly a turn off.
Alfred has been dealing with this soap opera nonsense for far too long and Dick is starting to suspect that Batman might be an idiot actually.
It isn't often Batman gets a call from Constantine.
When he picks up Constantine doesn't even say hello
Constantine: Word from the undead is that Gotham is now considered the property of the new ghost king. The child king Phantom. More specifically Gotham is his dollhouse according to Deadman. What did you do???
@hdgnj @hilariousseagoat @junespriince @piedpiperart I think y'all will like this idea based on your other work I read
Batman: Nothing. How do I convince him to un-claim Gotham?
John: Wait.. Ya didn't give 'im permission? Fuck... Lady Gotham must've then. Bollox. Look. Don't do anything! I'll swing by. Summon the Lady. See why she let him claim her haunt. Fuck!
Lady Gotham shows up lounging in a deck chair. Some kind of neon green smoothie in freshly manicured hand; nails painted deep, bloody red. Wearing a Batman themed bath robe. With the stereotypical bright green facial mask - cucumber slices and all.
Which all amounts a very strange, dissonant look for the 13ft tall, stone skinned, gargoyle faced woman with hair like power cables and eyes (once she deigns to lift a cucumber to make eye contact) like beaming bat-signals cutting through the dark night.
Lady Gotham, as it turns out, has a deadpan stare to rival her Knight. The baleful look she eyes Constantine with simply screams 'I am not impressed.' She takes a long drink from her smoothie, nearly emptying it in one long draw, before she speaks.
"Laughing Magician, I have not had time in the Realms to cleanse myself in well over a century. You will return me to my spa time at once. If you have need of the city spirit, you will find King Phantom has so kindly offered to take temporary guardianship of my city. Bother him with whatever troubles you and do not summon me by name again for the next several months."
Danny is going to take such good care of Gotham for her! Gonna get rid of some of those curses. Lock the spirit of Arkham in a thermos. Throw the thermos into a pocket dimension. So he can't make the patients worse. Definitely gonna make that clown suffer from sooooo many hauntings. Look, he can't harm the guy. But he can ensure the guy can't commit a crime by ghosts fucking with his stuff. He's gonna be the BEST city sitter! She's gonna be soooo proud of him!!!!
Lady Gotham starts describing the new king to Batman and Constantine. "He's such a sweet child. Way too young to be King... But he won the right to rule. So we have decided to keep him distracted with toys until he's old enough. Don't tell him I said that. He's such a cutie. Reminds me of your son Batman. The youngest of my knights. Damian."
Danny realizing that some of the curses can't be dispelled, only transfered: ah shit
Danny looking at the joker: well maybe u have a use after all
The joker, who unknowingly woke up with 36 curses and counting: why do I feel so funny(cackles)? Did I get the flu from when I fought batman last week?
Joker who then proceeds to have so much bad luck and mildly annoying but hella inconviencing things happen to him: *squints at the sky* universe, am I a joke to you?
Danny, who had been sticking curses on his soul with magic duck tape while invisable/intangible: yes.
Danny is fully under the impression Lady Gotham is on holiday. And she kinda is. But she's keeping a watch on him at all times. Just in case. Watching him transfer all the curses to the Joker? Made her laugh so hard her form shifted. Her Knight is going to find him MUCH easier to deal with now.
Also; Batman doing the maths. He adopted Lady Gotham as a sister. This sounds suspiciously like him adopting his kids. Does... Does this make the King his nephew?
Allow me to clarify a moment, I had intended it to be read as Lady Gotham was uncursing herself by literally cleaning them off herself in nice, clean, fresh Realms ectoplasm.
So perhaps Danny isn't so much fixing curses as he is moving them around. Getting innocent and vulnerable people out of harms way by shifting the curses to be affecting less vulnerable, less innocent people at least until Lady Gotham can get them cleaned off.
Perhaps it can be both? Before Danny can help her, any relax time in the zone would help loosen the curses and and get them unstuck from Gotham, but the curses need a place to go. Without that place, eventually they just resettle back on Lady Gotham. With Danny there he's picking up these loose curses coming free from Lady Gotham's vacation and actively sticking them to the Joker so they don't go back to Gotham afterwards
Batman finally convincing Consantine to summon King Phantom. He needs to a) calm his paranoia, and b) meet his nephew. Danny who is summoned with Boo-perglue and curse in hand, looks over very sheepish. Stuffs both in a pocket to deal with later. Batman ist sure he even wants to know.
Cut to Joker cursing a Storm In Pure rage. All he wanted was to go set up another little game with batsy, NOPE! This Fukin curse bullshit Just decided to Invert his Vison for an Hour.
Ohhhh And then The Next curse starts, MIGRAINES, PAIN, HEADACHES.
Joker's scheemes are put on hold till he can Find Some fukin magic shit to At least Stop the Curses gripping his Rotten Soul.
jason Suddenly Sits up from his bed, Looks out the window, and spots a Blue Stickynote that said 'hey, you should go talk to The Sirens.'
So that is what Jason does, and Hoo boy X-mas came early, jason gets a Full Video from harley that shows the Joker Writhing On the ground in pain, not nearly enough For what The bastard deserves. Buutt its better than nothing...
Smash-cut to batman as he talks with Constantine and hears him say 'at this point I could Pinpoint that clown with how Much Curses he's got alone... I think the Ghost king at this bloody point is Having fun.'
Klarion: Ugh fine I'll help. Just stop annoying me
Klarion looks at the curses and laughs: No nevermind. You're on your own. That's too funny! He used Boo-per glue and everything. I might be an agent of chaos but I'm not about to destroy such as artwork. Pfft.
Tiko: Meow
Klarion: Oh my you're right Tiko! He even used glitter glue to sign his name AAHAHAHAH
Danny is having the best time. Now onto other rogues who need to learn better... Ohh, empathy curse? Feel how your actions make others feel? Ohohoho Danny has plans. Lose all your wealth? Those Court of Owls bastards can share! Bad business decisions? Oh yes, he knows just which companies to hit. Plus, Joker ran away. Danny has to play with the others. Hmm, he could bless the Bats actually! Yeah! That's an idea!! Hmm, minor regeneration and health? Sounds good! (Danny, healing a broken bones overnight isn't 'minor ')
Although I bet Tim is happy he has a spleen again, I'm not sure if Babs should be able to walk again since that has become a part of her character now.
Nah, the regeneration would only heal new and current wounds and issues. anything that has already healed? Stays as it was. Which probably leads to Tim doing unhealthy experiments on himself till the others finds out and stop him.
I bet Danny peeled that 'lose all your wealth' curse straight from the Alley. It had been there since the night Bruce's parents died* so it wasn't near as old or stuck as some curses. But it had been vicious, keeping people poor, businesses failing, and the city dissuaded from helping.
So once it's gone, Jason is gonna be getting second Christmas; in that all the work he's been doing been for his territory is suddenly going to become a lot more effective.
*Iirc, before that incident, Park Row was actually a fairly nice neighborhood. The Waynes' death scared alot of folks and good businesses off.
Jason is having the best time. How does he summon their new city spirit. He needs to say thanks. Does he set up an offering table? He should set up an offering table for King Phantom. The guy is doing the best things! Deserves a treat. He's just gonna call Raven and ask what's considered appropriate for such. Maybe ask for the summons so he shake the guys hand.
Bruce is watching the chaos unfold and just... He nephew is trouble. So much trouble. But he's doing good. But why did it have to be Gotham?!?! and now Jason wants to meet his cousin and then the rest will. And then he will have to deal with all of the chaos..... He needs a nap...
Danny isn't even aware the Ancients and City Spirits' have basically adopted him. So he also doesn't know he has cousins in the batkids. Also, Danny being summoned while he's just captured a Talon and is breaking the spells on them? So he can shuffle them to the Far Frozen for rehab and reintegration? Would be amazing. Jason and Raven are both so confused. Why is the child King elbow deep in the Talon's chest cavity?
Danny: It's not what it looks like!!!!
Jason: Uh huh. Sure. So, what is it then?
Raven: The magic on them is different? How?
Danny: Wait! You know about them! I caught this one trying to break into a charity ladies house to hurt her. I'm breaking the slavery spells and sending them to the healers. Do you know where the others are?
Jason: You can actually help them? More than just like rekilling them? That's an option!?
Danny: Yeah? Sure rehab is gonna take forever. But the Far Frozen has everything for it? Best healers in the Realms!! Chief Frostbite is the best.
Jason: So... We summoned you to ask what you'd want as a gift for what you did to Joker. But I'm fully willing to help you defang the fucking Court!!
Barry Allen walks into his work and has to pinch himself to make sure he isnât dreaming. A smaller version of his coworker Batman seems to be an intern at the CCPD.Â
itâs Halloween and Danny make a VERY realistic/authentic copy of Batmanâs costume. Between similar looks, musculature, and costume that Barry is SURE is actually real body armor, he looks just like Batman.
Wraith and Specter were mortal enemies with the same powers. Perhaps the same species. But with very different aspects.
The Justice League knew very well that their newest member of the YJ was part of a species that was known to earth as "Ghosts". Denizens of another dimension that essentially posed as the interdimensional afterlife. Where should manifested into something else, born of ectoplasm and such.
Specter had a hybridisation of ghost constitution. Being half human and all. However, unlike most ghosts, her special powers typically made her as fast as speedsters. Her speed, accompanied by her ghostly abilities, made her scarier than most speedsters.
Then there was what was considered to be her arch nemesis.
Wraith was what one called an independent criminal. He wasn't affiliated with anyone. Occasionally worked with some rogues but that was only to his own benefit. Batman and Cyborg had identified his goals (or what they could consider to be his goals). The destruction of an entire government organisation along with something else. Perhaps slaughter.
Specter had been familiar with such a villain.
"He's... Not so bad. Not really. His heart is in the right place but his execution of it is cruel." Specter said, "Some ghosts have been experimented on before and Wraith almost became one of them... None of us ghosts like the G.I.W. but Wraith is determined to slaughter not only them but their associates too."
"Meaning?"
"If you have a connection to the G.I.W. then you won't be spared from his wrath... The last time he tracked down one of their scientists, he killed the man's wife and mother."
Batman grimaced, looking at the glitches out picture of Wraith. He could compare the man to be around Jason's heightâor taller. Specter had reported that Wraith was a fair bit older than her.
While Specter was a ghost that was best with speed, Wraith was destructive power. Strength in it's most dangerous form. He was capable of leveling mountains and summoning fireballs bigger than the daily planet sculpture.
The last time they fought Wraith without Specter, Superman and Wonderwoman were immediately shot down. Hell, even Batman was struggling after the bastard decided to play dirty. Batman quickly decided Wraith was an enemy after the ghost targeted Red Robinâas if knowing Bruce would immediately falter when one of his children were in immediate danger.
But there were times when some of them couldn't help but not blame Wraith. Not when they had failed to save ghosts who were being tortured and vivisected. Not when it was Wraith who frees them all.
(Bruce knows damn well that Jason seemed to be more inclined to Wraith than any of them.
"He's protecting his people, old man." Jason had once said.)
It's another crisis. Another fight. Lex Luther has apparently joined hands with the GIW. And broadcasting live was a ghost missing their limbs and trapped inside a tube of glowing green.
Before anyone could even say a word, the watchtower shook. Specter didn't seem surprised but her eyes were colder than the ice she conjured.
"Why the fuck is Wraith outside?" Barry warily muttered, already preparing for a fight once they saw the ghost hovering outside. He wasn't attacking, cursing, or doing anything else. He was just floating, staring at Specter.
"Ellie." Wraith growled, eyes glowing red while Specter's eyes shone venomous green. "You gonna keep playing hero, Polaris?"
Specter growled back, "Let him in."
They all shot her a confused look. Batman should be asking questions. Superman should be refusing. Wonder Woman should be demanding for a reason. But the two ghostly beings were staring at each other like they finally agreed on something.
Constantine slowly lowered the forcefield that kept ghosts out and some ghosts in. Wraith floated through the glass of the watchtower and stood before Specterâtowering over her.
"You gonna admit it?"
"I already agreed with you that the GIW were trashâbut that doesn't give you the right to arbitrarily take the lives of those that weren't involved in their operations!" Specter yelled.
"So what? We keep them alive then someone's gonna come back to avenge their damned souls. Might as well wipe 'em out before they can come back to bite our asses!" Wraith yelled back.
"Dante! Mom didn't fucking raise you to be like thisâ"
"OUR MOTHER IS BEING BROADCASTED BY THOSE BASTARDS! OUR MOTHER IS IN THEIR FUCKING CAPTIVITY!" WraithâDante snapped, pointing to the screen where Lex Luthor went on about the ghosts. "Our mother has been missing for two months and the GIW had him. It's because of that krypton obsessed fucker that I failed to track him down!"
"IF YOU HAD JUST LISTENED TO ME AND LET ME TALK TO THE LEAGUEâ"
"âYOUR LEAGUE IS FUCKING USELESSâ"
"âMOM WOULDN'Tâ
Batman gritted his teeth, "ENOUGH!"
Everyone fell silent, unable to speak any further. It was hard processing all this.
Wraith and Specter were siblings... Their mother was the ghost in captivity. The two of them have been searching for their mother for months.
Constantine choked on whatever drink he had, letting his own flask fall and staring at the screen in suddenly horror. "Shit... SHIT! THAT'S THE FUCKING GHOST KING!" He screeched, pointing at the screen as realization struck him like lightning. Then he pointed at the two Ghosts, "And you're... Holyâ"
"Ellie, you and I both know how this will end if mother isn't save within the fucking hour." Wraith snarled, "The realms will go to war."
"Spec?" Conner murmured softly, trying to see if their friend would actuallyâ
But then Specter looked resigned, a little regretful, but also cold. Like she was prepared to fight them all. Slowly, but damn surely, she was walking towards Wraith and standing beside him.
"Specter." Diana narrowed her eyes.
"I'm sorry." Specter bowed her head just a bit, "But my brother is right... If the King of the Infinite Realms is not saved within the hour... There will be war. As your friend, I am inclined to warn you that you will not win. Not when the Realms' warriors were once yours. We have our Kryptonians. We have fallen demigods. We have many more than that."
Everyone's breath hitched.
"So please... Please help us." Specter pursed her lips. "Because I don't want a war... But I want my mother safe."
"My sister speaks for herself," Wraith scoffed, "I don't give a flying fuck about you people. But Luthor did something to block me and now I can't track them. Since you're all heroes, I suggest you get to work... Or else I'll lead the ghosts myself to burn your world down."
Teethâsharp and eldritch. Glowing red eyes turned to Bart Allenâthe boy from the future flinched away, as if horrified.
"You speedsters seem familiar with me." Wraith chuckled, "Know that I will not hesitate to eviscerate this world like the other timelines."
High King Phantom was retrieved from the secret facility Lex Luthor and the GIW created with an anti-ecto forcefield that had them go undetected by other ghosts. Constantine and the Supers were quick to find it and tear it to bits.
Wraith did not go to war. Specter thanked them and promised that there will be no war.
Danny was very concerned as to what the hell his children got up to during the months he was gone. Clockwork happily told him how his children developed fratricidal tendencies.

"Rejected."
"But, Milord, he has been specifically chosen to..."
"Rejected. Goodbye."
Wally, tied down to a stone table and about to be sacrificed, feels more than offended.
This particular cult is trying to gift him to some minor god of protection or something, he wasn't particularly paying attention to the specifics, saying that the god needs a new member of his harem.
"But we chose this one because of his qualifications!"
"Indeed, we sense the eldritch within him!"
The god or whatever raises one white eyebrow.
"Re. Jec. Ted. Rejected. That? That whole thing?" The being asks, waving a hand generally at Wally's everything. "That is not going anywhere near my Fraid or my Haunt."
"Hey!" Wally says incredulously, "The hell did I do to you, man?"
"No no, that's the beauty of it!" A cultist interrupts him, also motioning at Wally's everything. "As a member of your harem and also one already tainted by the unknowable, he can stay out of your personal lair and stay in the Eternal Void, and you can just make sure he pleases you in wherever way you desi-"
"That thing is also not getting anywhere near my dick. In fact? This? This is done. I am done."
The being snaps his fingers into fingerguns, points at the shackles on Wally, and breaks them with green beams of light.
"Run free and far away frommmmmmmholy fuck get away from me!"
"So what, am I not good enough for you?" Wally asks, now in the beings face and ignoring the cultists.
Fuck those guys, but this just got personal.
~~~~~~
Danny is being hounded by one of Clockwork's worst nightmares, thanks to a stupid cult that thinks he's A, a god, and B, has a harem.
Great.
He's supposed to be at his 21st birthday party, getting legally wasted, and now he's getting hit on the man responsible for a not one, not two, but three week adventure through the time stream he just got back from.
This man and his ilk are responsible for nearly all of Danny's Clockwork Assignments, specifically to fix the timestream and reality, and he has the balls to ask why Danny doesn't like him?!
Danny has found a small-ish floating island in the Zone that isn't claimed by anyone.
Dibs.
He starts altering it, and finds out that for ghosts it's like, super easy. He's literally just grabbing bits of ecto and forming it into what he wants, like putty.
He takes inspiration from his favorite Animal Crossing save, and shapes this floating island to be a place for him to just...go chill.
He names it the same thing he named his Animal Crossing island; Potato.
Danny loves Potato Island. It's his new favorite place to go to unwind.
The blob ghosts like his little ecto lakes and ponds, and will take the form of random fish to play in them. Some of them like to pretend to be caught when he goes "fishing", and are very proud when he takes photos with them and tells them what a big catch they are.
There's his house, based on the Animal Crossing one he designed, and there's a few other empty ones as well.
There's shops, based after the ones on his islands, that have no wares and no one to run them.
But that's fine, this is all just so he can relax.
Except one day, a ghost he hasn't met before asks if they can have one of the houses. That in return, they'll run one of the shops.
Danny agrees! He was getting kind of lonely anyways, and he's not on the island all the time.
Then another ghost asked. Then another.
Now his little project island is a bustling avenue of shops and locals, with celebrations for Ghost holidays he's never heard of planned out, and a small city council to gather up concerns and bring them to his attention if the city council can't resolve them.
Usually it's infrastructure, since no one but Danny can make alterations to the island. The political stuff stays firmly in the hands of the elected officials.
Potato Island is a small, peaceful hub of trade and Danny is Very Proud.
~~~~~~
Meanwhile, the Justice League Dark is very happy that there's an interdimensional, peaceful trading village in the Infinite Realms that they can do their shopping at with ease.
The locals like to barter, which is ideal for Magic Users, and Potato Island (wild name but whatever) is protected by a very powerful spirit, so JLD members don't have to worry about being attacked while there.
Billy, though; Billy has a whole other reason to seek Potato Island out; he needs a place to live as a human. He can open his own portals and go back to Earth, and he's not stupid, he knows not to eat food from the Realms, but he's...a little tired of being homeless.
As Captain Marvel, everyone thinks he's an adult and that he has a secret base to live in.
But as Billy, who no one in the hero community knows, he's been living on the streets, and he wants security.
So the next time he goes to Potato Island, he explores it, searching for the Island's guardian; Phantom.
Alfred: I'm afraid I don't have any open positions right now available
Danny: There isn't? But what about the ad on Gotham Job Connects saying a nanny was needed at Wayne Manor?
Alfred: I am unsure how that go on there but I can assure you, no one here put up that-
Damian: Excuse me, are you Daniel Fenton?
Danny: *Blinks down at child* Oh um yes I am.
Damian: Excellent. You're right on time for your interview. Please follow me.
Alfred: Master Damian? You put up a ad for a nanny?
Damian: That's right.
Alfred: You....want someone to care for you?
Damian: Heavens no. I'm searching for a nanny for the real child of the house. I know you're overwhelmed with the day to day duties running the household and didn't want you to have a heart attack from the stress. A professional nanny would lift the load off your shoulders.
Danny: That's so sweet that you care so much for your staff. Who's the child you want someone to help take care of? You're baby brother or sister?
Damian: My father.
Danny: .....
Alfred embarrassed: Master Damian....why would you-?
Damian: Richard says Father acts like a child, and children need minding if they make idiotic decisions too often.
Danny: .....
Alfred: I'm terrible sorry about this young man. I'll reimburse any millage you wasted driving out here.
Danny: No, it's okay. I-
Damian: The pay is fifty dollars a hour. Eighty hours every two weeks. We cover all benefits such as medical, dental, vision and auto insurance, and lodging can be provided if needed. Depending on how long we need your services I'll set up a retirement fund for you matching your bi-weekly pay.
Danny: So I would be like a in home caregiver? Most of my experience is with children but I'm sure I could handle your father.
Alfred: Master Damian!
Damian: *Hands Alfred a piece of paper*
Alfred after reading it: How soon can you start sir?
Was it a list of everything Bruce had done in his Brucie mask that made Alfred feel so very old? Was it just the sentence "For once in your life, Pennyworth, let your petty side win"?
I propose a bet: with this Nanny we can get Father to have a semi-regular sleep schedule and more frequent meals that arenât protein shakes. Give me a month. We can determine the rules of the bet at a later time.
Alfred read the note and couldnât deny the spark of petty satisfaction the idea gave him. It just might work.
Bruce behaved differently around non-family and strangers even when he wasnât playing up his Brucie persona - he was too comfortable with his family. Too used to his own patterns. This could disrupt those patterns enough to create new ones.
âHow soon can you start sir?â Alfred asked.
Mister Fenton blinked, but answered, âRight away if youâd like. Or we could do Slow Start. Um, thatâs what I do with skiddish children, I get introduced gradually by the guardians to show Iâm a trusted adult and someone who will keep coming back instead of a one-time babysitter they can rebel against. But, well, I donât know how youâd like me to handle this job since my charge is an adult. I usually do an orientation day with the guardians where we discuss the needs, physical and mental, of the child as well as your parenting style and goals.â
Damian threw Alfred a sharp grin and the Butler had to admit heâd chosen well. He would have to ask the boy later what kind of interview process he had used, though he was certain a very thorough background check had already occurred for every single applicant.
Alfred waved his hand for the Nanny to follow and headed for his office. There was no need to stand around the entry way for their discussion.
âAn orientation day sounds just right for now. I donât believe we will need a Slow Start, as Master Bruce would benefit from the immediate change of a steady presence.â
Fenton nodded in acceptance.
âFather skips nap time,â Damian spoke up, sitting at one of the chairs beside Alfredâs desk.
Fentonâs eyebrows scrunched and his eyes flicked between the two.
âBruce Wayne⌠has a nap time?â
âWe all do.â
âIâm sure youâve seen the tabloids,â Alfred explained, tight lipped, trying not to roll his eyes. âMaster Bruce has a rather well published night life. As such, he doesnât sleep much at night.â
âOh, I donât read tabloids,â Fenton looked a little disgusted at the idea. He took a seat just as Alfred did. âThey can skew news and lie about anything. Worse than vultures.â
Another point in this manâs favor.
âJust so,â Alfred agreed. âBut his nocturnal activities have created the bad habit of mild sleep deprivation and that has been picked up by his children, so I encourage daily naps and early nights when possible.â
âSounds good.â
âFather also needs reminders to eat,â Damian said. Fenton turned a little to give him more direct attention, while keeping Alfred within sight.
âIs this due to a lack of interest in food generally, hyperfocus on a project, or aversion to certain textures?â
âAll of the above,â the boy answered.
âI see. Thatâs pretty common in the children Iâve tended, so I can test out different methods of redirecting attention until we find one or two that works for him. Or we can use his inattention to get him eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. Is he allergic to anything?â
âNo allergies from ingestable foods.â
Fenton nodded seriously. He took a moment of thought before returning his gaze to Alfred.
âI understand that youâre a traditional butler? You manage the staff of the house?â
âYes. I was trained in the classical methods in Great Britain before moving here to serve the Wayne family. Iâm afraid there isnât much of a permanent staff in residence though. The gardener comes once a week to tend the grounds, and when we host large gatherings or parties I am in charge of hiring and overseeing the catering and security.â
Fenton nodded again before turned back to Damian, âSince youâre the one who hired me that makes you my boss,â Damianâs posture was already formal but he squared his shoulders. âI will be happy to give you a written report of my progress at the end of each week and discuss any changes you wish to see in my performance for the first month. But since Mister Pennyworth here is the staff manager I believe it would be more appropriate if I go to him with my daily questions and concerns.â
âThat is acceptable.â
Alfred had to fight the smile from taking over his face. Not only did this man take surprises in stride, but within 30 minutes had gained the approval of Damian Wayne by treating him seriously while negotiating a proper adult-to-adult chain of command.
Daniel Fenton was impressive.
Alfred was going to do his best to keep this man around.
Demon Twins au where Danny is just as good, if not better, at mimicking voices as Damian and decides to make it everyoneâs problem.
Danny annoys and/or haunts goons by mimicking childâs laughter down dark hallways (where he, of course, also causes the temp to go down and lights to flicker)
He starts a side hustle where, if given a voice sample, will recreate the voice and say (within reason) whatever the person paying wants him to say.
This is great for people who may have gotten or found a note from a loved one and want to hear it in their voice.
It can be used for practical jokes or calling someone out of school or other sticky situations.
⌠itâs also, unfortunately, used by some hero fans in a less than appropriate context.
But $20 is $20 and Danny isnât one to judge someoneâs preferences if itâs not hurting anyone.
Until it does. Because someone *cough*Lex Luther*cough*, over time, has Danny say a couple things in Supermanâs voice and then releases it as proof that heâs a terrible person.
Danny is quick to realize and freaks out. He releases the full or clipped portions of the audio to show where it came from with a caption stating: âI just thought the dude was into some freaky sadomaso, degrading kink stuff involving Superman. I didnât realize itâd be used in this context⌠though I wouldnât be surprised if he also used to it get off.â
Danny thinks the problem is solved as Luther is being horrendously memed and embarrassed online for getting audio sex tapes of Superman. Unbeknown to Danny, the Bats get curious and investigate as this could be a liability but also because itâs hilarious. Shenanigans ensue.
In the USA, picking up a ghost in your car, often happened when hitchhiking was still legal, but that doesnât mean itâs no longer a thing.
Getting a ghost in your backseat, looking at your rearview mirror, and finding out they are no longer there.
Then why THE FUCK wonât this ghost leave him alone?!
Tim found himself on the outskirts of Colorado (for a mission) on a mild spring evening when he spotted a teenage guy at the side of the road with a backpack on his shoulder, looking like he had just come out of a shredder.
He didnât even think about it, his foot pressing automatically on the brakes and letting the guy on, receiving a quick âthanks.â
After about half an hour, his eyes glanced at the mirror, and the guy looked passed out and... transparent?
After several hours of driving, the guy woke up, looked over himself, looked at Tim, and decided it was a wonderful time to start a friendly conversation.

The clearing was quiet, the air was fresh, and the body was cooling in the breeze. It was strange the body, though; it knew it was once a person, a being. Not a thing, an object, a body. It was he it figured, though gender was foreign to the body's limited knowledge, the masculine felt right. And so he thought, dreamed, and rotted throughout the night.
The bugs and birds came to feast, and the rats and squirrels ravaged what was left, and he became less. He was still a body, a man, but just less. The oncoming of the winter winds prolonged the decay. The harsh frost preserved what was left of the man. It wasn't until the rooting of the spring moss came that the last of his flesh left his body. Now, he lay brittle on the damp ground. No more a body, still a man left to the stillness of the woods that had become his home. That would have been his end, a quiet ending to the peaceful life of a rotting corpse, it would have been if not for one precocious little boy veering off from his father on a weekend camping trip.
It would not be unheard of to find a body in these woods; hikers lose themselves in the rustling of the trees every season, and inevitably, a few of them wouldn't return to the trailhead. So when the cries of a child rang out the cool April morning, his father ran, fearing that his child may now be like the rotting thing upon the earth. But when he met his child, sobbing loud and clear, he knew the worst he was dealing with was scraped knee or stubbed tow.
But as he was led beyond the trees into the meadows that he had not known was there. There were many things this man did not know: how to fly a plane, how to build a deck, how to tell his wife that he lost his love for her when she whispered in his ear on the night of his mother's funeral that she was grateful that she would no longer need to choke down her cooking every Sunday. While he knew that he did not know these things, upon seeing the thing that he thought was once a body, he realized that he did not know how to explain to his son what it was they had stumbled upon on that cool April morning.
So, as a father and son fled the woods, they would no longer feel the comfort that had formally filled them when they first entered those woods. And the man that was now a body but was once a man lay flayed on the ground, the intricate etching stark against the glistening of the sun bleach white of his bones. And would there have been anyone there to witness it, the man who had become thing would have appeared to sport a wicked grin. Hollow eyes bored their way through the dancing foliage cutting through the mid-morning sun, and if by chance, at that moment as the father and son encountered a forest ranger and the man that was laughed in the quiet stillness and in that moment detective Aron Cartwright woke with a start.
He looked at them silently, pondering the nature of their actions, so fundamentally human were they that he could not comprehend the rashness of their frantic attacks. The gnashing, jagged motions of their limbs, the cries loud and piercing. Only met with a cold, unfeeling gaze, well not entirely unfeeling, in the face of such a fundamentally human action a god etched in stone would only ponder confused at his own envy. Strong and sturdy were his foundations, but in the same breath, they were unmoving and reigned in their fortification. He could never bend or break the way the humans do. Perhaps thatâs why he watched. A cold, pondering gaze looking out at a sea of humanity's constant movements, raging sounds, and quiet breaths.
When Danny entered the portal, he was terrified; he wouldn't have admitted to Sam or Tucker, but his hands shook before he put on the suit. So, when the electricity surged through his arm and the beating of his heart stopped, all he could think of was the echoing terror that filled his mind. By the time he woke up, he was not only changed physically, but an echoing voice would continue to ring inside his mind in the weeks afterward. Not only would his fear and anxiety continue to permeate, but also the feelings of others. His presence now, after being changed, seemed to be off-putting to the people around him, and those who knew him personally were affected to a lesser degree. But to anyone new or someone he encountered in the street, he could feel the dread the person felt when he met their eyes.
It only made him feel worse when he realized that this fear, especially in his ghost form, seemed to feed him, growing his powers even more. But unbeknownst to him, his change did not go unnoticed. Deep in the recesses of space, one Thaal Sinestro became aware of a potential yellow lantern on Earth. When he follows the ring to Earth, he faces a glowing child who seems to be drawing fear towards himself even without the ring.
Danny, for his credit, is startled by the ring and the yellow alien that descended from the heavens; however, with everything that's happened in the last couple of weeks, he's more than willing to accept just about anything right now. And now, with someone who, at least on the surface, is willing to listen to all of the bull shit that's been going on, so he starts to divulge everything to the weird spaceman.
The weird spaceman realizes he is the perfect recruit for the Yellow Lantern Corp and possibly has a second chance at mentoring someone. (not that he's salty about Hal rejecting his offer to join his Corp, nope not at all.) So when the time comes for him to explain the glowing yellow ring finally, he knows that this baby superhero isn't going to agree to join with his standard "join my evil organization." Speech, so he needs to improvise. And oh, Hal will be surprised when he meets his newest yellow lantern.
Nora ânowhereâ Cartwright is a werewolf whose life is ending; she knows this, her grandmother knows this, everyone knows this, and everyone refuses to let her forget it. With two weeks to her 21st birthday, she knows sheâll need to choose between leaving New York or joining one of the established packs, the packs who have made it abundantly clear that they donât want her. Her plans to leave seem simple until she accidentally enters a warlock's territory on one of her deliveries, the Demeter Hotel. The home to one of the wealthiest families on the East Coast and the recipients of her delivery. Fearing that she may have offended the family by entering the hotel without their permission, she quickly leaves. Her unusual demeanor, however, confuses the family, as none of them are aware of any other supernatural creatures. In particular, Laurel, the heir to the Demeter estate, becomes very interested in this strange new figure. Now Nora has to either leave New York or perhaps accept a place amongst the Demeter family and create her own pack.
*Spidey and the Sinister Six having their usual fight*

Spider-Man: Surprised that this spiders so young and spry? Well-
Electro: Dude Iâve been fighting you for at least 5 fucking years! How old even are you?
Shocker, joking cause heâs the only one who picked up no grown adult acts likes Spidey: Donât swear in-front of the boy you donât want him to pick it up.

Spider-Man, offended cause it quips slap: 1. My jokes are great 2. She and my dad are dead so-

As per usual, itâs DP crossover with (probably) DC, although you could probably adjust it for other fandoms
ANYWAYS
A little kid and his mother are trick or treating in another city, perhaps at some kind of event rather than knocking on doors, and the kid is dressed as Phantom. Itâs very adorable, with his little ghost-shaped bucket and clearly homemade and already stained costumeâlisten, white only works if you can just fly over street grime or phase it out of your clothesâand his slightly Iâll fitting wig. The kid is SO happy to be out and about dressed as his favorite, and maybe even showed it off to Phantom back in Amity Park before his family left.
The hero, insert whoever you wish here, is probably in civvies and just enjoying the event. The kid, meanwhile, is so glad when people ask who he is so he can explain, and so- the hero gets to hear ALL ABOUT the local town hero who is probably pretty small time despite the kidâs clearly exaggerated stories. The hero certainly never heard of him, but the kidâs mom confirms that Phantom really was the town hero, despite some mixed reviews of the poor guy.
âDid you manage to show him your costume?â the hero asks.
âYeah! We went down to the cemetery to leave flowers and I got to show him my costume.â
Wait. Cemetery? Maybe it was part of theme, because Phantom had to be named that for a reason, but⌠it sounded likeâŚ
The kid ignores the suddenly VERY still hero and instead turns to his mom. âMomma, do you think we should bring him candy? He doesnât get to trick or treat like we do, and I can work super hard to get him a bunch!â
The kidâs mom just smiles. âWe could, but maybe we should bring him something homemade. I bet heâd like something more filling, teen boys like him have a hollow leg.â
The kid wrinkles his nose. âLike Vernie with the pizza bagels?â
âLike your cousin, yes. We can make some cinnamon rolls and take them to his memorial, maybe bring some of the apples from your grandpaâs gardenâŚâ
The hero is pretty much forgotten as the two-part family wanders off, not quite intentionally forgetting the hero is there so much as the hero somewhat accidentally ended the conversation when they just froze and didnât ask anything further.
Not that the hero didnât want to. But theyâd learn something very serious.
Oneâthere was a small town hero theyâd never heard of. Twoâthat hero was apparently a teen. Thirdâmost pressingly, the teen hero was both beloved enough to have kids dressing up as him and dead enough to have a grave.
That field happens to be paleoxeno anthropology - the study of dead alien and/or interdimensional people and cultures.
The thing with becoming the top expert in a field of study, is that you often don't set out to become one. Danny just wanted to understand where his parents got the idea that ghosts aren't sapient. So, he read their research.
(Cut because this got long.)
And then, when that didn't answer things (because apparently they'd stopped citing their damn sources after college), he asked his parents what references they used. Which lead to reading those research papers, and looking into their sources.
And the deeper Danny went, the more he learned, the fewer offshoots the rabbit hole had. He started recognizing when authors were citing each other in a loop, when some researcher was plagiarizing a specific other researcher, and he eventually got good at cutting through the "as everyone knows" to the root "I've never read anything except X crackpot's work, but if I say that, you won't take me seriously."
Along the way, he learned that a lot of "ghost" research was cross-contaminated by other fields - aliens, gods, demons, elemental spirits, and basically everything else that wasn't "of this Earth" all got dumped into the same area of "pseudoscience."
Except, aliens were real. There were even alien super heroes - Martian Manhunter was very openly a non-human person from Mars.
So, why were all these papers swilling the same backwash?
Well, Danny found what he was looking for - the ultimate source of his parent's prejudices - a "research paper" commissioned and published to support a proposed law against "illegal aliens." Specifically, a law that would criminalize super heroes who couldn't prove they were born on Earth - Superman in particular.
It was all bullshit. Years of "professionals" were ultimately referencing a single biased "study" into the ability of anything not human to have conscious thought. It was all based on fucking xenophobia.
By this point in his research, Danny had entered college and majored in anthropology - since he was doing the research anyway, he'd may as well get credit for it, right? He'd written several papers on known alien cultures, talked to experts in the field of interdimensional communication (read: magic users), and generally become a known entity in the study of dead non-human and/or non-Earth-based people.
And if he maybe popped into the Ghost Zone to talk to a few "primary sources" for his papers, well, that was why he specialized in specifically dead cultures.
By the time he'd actually graduated, he'd written a (very well received) paper on the inherently xenophobic prejudices present in what he was calling the field of paleoxeno anthropology. He laid out his very well-sourced arguments, heavily referenced established research (and the sources for said research), and ended it with a list of the known crimes of Lex Luthor - the primary source of everything his parents had based their work on.
All in all, Danny was rather proud of the work he'd done. He'd upended the entire field of ecto-biology, started a few debates on the merits of interdimensional cultural exchanges (the idea of Christmas Truce was immediately adopted by the people of Gotham), and gotten a few prejudiced laws challenged.
His parents had copies of his papers on ghost culture proudly displayed throughout the house, and had been overwhelmingly supportive of the new ideas he had brought to their field. Jazz had a newspaper article about the legal changes he'd instigated framed in her office in Arkham - a surprising number of her patients weren't legally human, and were already receiving better care and accommodations now that they were being recognized as people.
But the thing that really made Danny realize he was not just an expert, but the expert, was Superman showing up at his door with a copy of his examination of Krypton's lost subcultures and fringe social practices.
"A few of my family members have entered their "rebellious teenager" phase. On the recommendation of my colleagues, I came here, hoping you could help them "rebel" in a way that helps them feel closer to our people."
Now I'm imagining Danny giving a public interview with a few alien ghosts, and by sheer dumb chance accidentally chose Jor-El, M'yri'ah J'onzz, and Abin Sur.
Jor-El and M'yri'ah were chosen because they were among these present for the last days of their species and seemed to be the most knowledgeable sources Danny could find on what exactly went down.
Abin was chosen because he wanted to also have a Lantern who could give insight into different alien races with their line of work and how the Green Lantern corps handles accommodating for so many different cultures.
One can only imagine how Clark, J'onn, and Hal might feel when they find out who were being interviewed by one Dr. Daniel Fenton.
