FlutterGhost King & Queen AU Headcanons
So I'm finally sharing some more detailed headcanons and ideas for the Royal AU. This AU can be seen as part of the main FlutterGhost one, or it can be its own separate thing. I personally consider it a separate AU to the main crossover (which takes place in the Equestria Girls timeline after Legend of Everfree and after the events of the DP show), but again, they can be merged. Also, Phantom Planet isn't canon AT ALL in my DP/MLP: EG crossover.
Anyway, onto the headcanons!
Shortly after Danny (and Fluttershy) begin to rule, the appearance of the Ghost Zone starts to change. It's still a vast, infinite expanse of green, but there are a few noticeable differences.
The atmosphere and green tinge to the air become less dark and gloomy, and the green itself becomes less harsh, lightening in color and tone slightly. Bright stars and constellations appear all over the green void, resembling the night sky, along with brilliant comets, shooting stars, and aurora borealis that stream across the sky.
(Just some images to help visualize what I'm talking about! Basically, just imagine a galaxy, but green lol!)
Ghostly creatures and animals of all kinds also begin to roam much more freely and peacefully.
A big headcanon I have for the Ghost Zone in general is that its appearance changes to reflect whoever is ruling at the time. Since Pariah Dark was King up until Danny took over, the Ghost Zone looks the way it does in the show to reflect him and the dark era of his reign.
But now that Danny is King, the Zone's appearance is changing to reflect the brighter era he and Fluttershy are ushering in as its new rulers.
Danny saw firsthand how Pariah Dark's rule affected the ghosts, so he does his best to reverse and undo as much as he can. He's young and still learning, but being with Fluttershy has definitely helped mellow him a bit. And with her, their friends, and his council as his support system, he's growing into a fair and just leader.
Fluttershy, similarly, is growing into her role as Queen. Her innate kindness helps to soothe even the most restless of ghosts. But don't mistake her kindness for weakness. Danny has given her the encouragement and space she needs to come out of her shell, and when her King or her people are under threat, she will not hesitate to don the mantle of Queen and defend them as fiercely as a lioness!
As King and Queen, Danny and Fluttershy have a dynamic that is very similar to how King George and Queen Charlotte are depicted in "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story".
Not necessarily because they face the same relationship struggles, or because Danny faces the same struggles as George, but more so because of how they, like Charlotte and George, face their roles as rulers and navigate their relationship.
Fluttershy, like Charlotte, is new to being Queen and is realizing just how much weight comes with the crown. But in the middle of all the responsibilities and pressure, Danny, like George, sees his wife and allows her to be her real self with him. And Danny, like George, doesn't have to worry about appearing kingly to her. With Fluttershy, he's just Danny, her Danny.
Fluttershy, like Charlotte, also reassures Danny when the pressures of being King threaten to overwhelm him. She reminds him that the two of them are in this together, and he doesn't have to do everything alone.
Danny also tends to gush about how beautiful his wife is, just like George!
Their personal styles as King and Queen are as follows:
In the beginning, Danny wasn't too keen on wearing any fancy regal outfits. So, he tended to just stick to his Phantom suit most of the time.
But over time (with some push from his council and some "gentle" motivation from Rarity), he agreed to wear more formal outfits.
It wasn't anything too fancy at first, just some decoration to his Phantom suit and a starry cape (ofc he's wearing the galaxy cape! C'mon now!)
Slowly, he warmed up to wearing more formal attire (Thank you, Rarity!)
In terms of colors, a lot of black and silver, some white here and there, and some green.
I'm not the best at describing outfits and clothing, so I'm going to include some visuals that reflect what I headcanon Danny would wear.
Btw, this image right here is the first image that comes to mind when I think of Ghost King Danny's royal attire!
I wanted Danny to feel comfortable. Not too medieval, not too modern, and I wanted to have him in things that I feel like he could still move and fly around in relatively easily.
I leaned towards something similar to Francis from Reign, in case it wasn't obvious.
Fluttershy was more open to wearing more formal outfits right off the bat. Rarity's one of her closest friends, so she's more used to wearing fancier things than Danny is.
In terms of color: Lots of soft, pastel, and pale greens. Whites, Ivory, Silver, turquoise, aqua blues, and some purples here and there as well.
LOTS of nature, flower, and butterfly detailing, as well as themed jewelry and accessories.
I wanted Fluttershy to have very non-restricting clothing. Her gowns feel light and breezy (as pony Rarity would say), with elegant, flowy movement.
She's never trying to show off, but she still manages to look graceful and ethereal nonetheless.
Again, here are some visuals to help picture what I'm going for. (I took a little inspiration from her pony counterpart's Gala dress, and her latest Pony-Up transformation outfit as seen below)

Again, these are just my thoughts and headcanons when it comes to what Danny and Fluttershy would wear as King and Queen.
One headcanon I have in particular is that Rarity creates a lot of Fluttershy's dresses and outfits. But there are some otherworldly materials that she physically can't manipulate and work with (stars, light, the aurora borealis, etc), so she settles for designing the gowns, and the inhabitants of the Ghost Zone bring them to life on their end.
I haven't really nailed down how to explain the Equestrian Magic/Ghost Energy side of things, but I'll try my best to make it make sense.
Basically, the two work sort of like the opposite of how magnets work. With magnets, they attract when opposite ends of the poles meet and repel when the same sides of the poles are close together.
But with EM and Ectoplasmic energy, it's the opposite. They work together when used with the same intentions, or poles, if you will.
For example, when EM is corrupted, like what happened with Sunset Shimmer and Sci-Twi, Danny's pure intentions to help would make his Ectoplasmic energy repel the corrupted magic and vice versa. But when, let's say, Fluttershy and Danny have the same intentions to help and protect, their magic and ghost energy wouldn't fight each other. Instead, they'd strengthen each other.
In some cases, Equestrian magic and ghost energy can cancel each other out. But again, it depends on the intentions of whoever is wielding said powers.
Sorry if this is still confusing! I can't really find a better way of explaining it, but if you can, feel free to share!
Another headcanon I have for this AU is that because Fluttershy has spent so much time with Danny in the Ghost Zone, her magic has sort of become attuned to Danny's core.
Danny himself can also feel her magic through his ghost core. It always pulses faster and stronger when she's nearby, and Fluttershy can feel his core, too.
She can feel its power, its cold aura, and her own magic hums in tune with it.
In fact, her magic reacts so strongly over time that it changes, forming what can only be described as the magical version of a ghost core.
Danny senses it when it forms. And his core is practically singing in delight. A glowing yellow orb appears at the center of Fluttershy's chest before disappearing.
But Fluttershy can feel it. A warm sensation that reacts when she feels Danny's own core.
There's also a portal to Equestria somewhere in the Ghost Zone, and very few actually know it exists *cough* Discord *cough*.
OH MAN, this turned out wayyyy longer than I thought it would be! But I wanted to get this out of my system, and it turned into this lol!
I hope you like my ideas and headcanons for this AU. There are a lot of different ideas and AUs I have in mind for these two, but this one is one of my favorites, so I really hope you enjoy Ghost King Danny Phantom and Queen Fluttershy Aurora!
