So I set out this afternoon. I picked the stuff up from the stores two streets away. Walked over to the mall. Picked up thing #2. Contemplated going into the store to ask about thing #3, because the order page looked a little wonky, but decided against it, because I didn't want to be a bother. Had an ice cream. Walked two street over to a grocery store to buy stuff for lunch tomorrow. And just as I was sitting down at the bus stop, waiting for my bus... my phone buzzed.

With a notification that thing #3 was ready for pick up.

Thank you! :) I actually have a 5K race in... less than 3 weeks, so I gotta train :'D

So as for RTTE... I've seen it maybe three times, so I clearly enjoy it, but in more detached way than I am obsessed with the core installments of the franchise. (Like I have zero inspiration to write for RTTE--partially because of how they chose the handle the hiccstrid relationship. Look, Blindsided is lovely, and they have such cute moments, my problem is not that, but that it was such a coward move not to have them together until seasons in. And I can tell you it's all because they expected a male audience -> boys buy more merchandise (and you can't have boy and girl merchandise mixing!)* -> boys wouldn't have wanted to watch too much romance, so we can't have them together from the start. My lovelies, Astrid, that stubborn idiot, decided by the end of httyd1 that Hiccup's her man and from that point on she never let him go, and that's the truth and the hill I'll die on.)

Okay, that was a long segue... Favorite storylines! I love Daggur. I love his redeption arc and his unwavering craziness. I liked when Hiccup got kidnapped for ransom (bear with me, I don't know most of the episode titles by heart). The Northern Markets. Chicken. When Barf and Belch loved on Hiccup. When the twins took "ownership" of the Edge. When Tuffnut "married" Ruff and Fishlegs. To mention a few.

As for Tuffnut--yeah, sure. He would definitely not ask for permission--it's easier to ask for forgiveness afterwards. And ofc the dragons didn't leave--I live in perfect and unwavering denial of the third movie.

I had to do some text searching (I read the series I think 2,5 or 3,5 years ago the last time), but I did find it chapter 7 of Shadow Kiss!

Okay, so in the smut I'm still writing, I put Astrid in a full dress, and to do that, I did some research. Now, Viking women technically wore a hangerock or apron dress, which is lovely, but... not sexy. Especially in the given context, since Astrid's everyday ensemble includes what is technically a miniskirt. So in the fic I put her something that is like a fantasy-influenced 14th century dress--but with historical details! I'll talk more about this when I finally finish this fic.

BUT while I was researching, there was one video with a really fun thesis statement that basically went: "The most expensive outfit in the Viking age was probaly pink and sparkly." Now, that would be a fun bit to add to a fic :D
