hello!! I am applying for a job posting I thought looked interesting (I’m miserable in my job but this economy is ass and I’ve applied to 100 or more and have gotten only 3 interviews or ghosted and ghosted after the interviews - BUT I DIGRESS) ANYWAY, the position is an aide to a director for the city I live in and I’m fairly involved in grassroots organizing that has a PAC element as well as a precinct chair for my local DFL party. I want to include this on my resume as a way of saying hi I love this city and I would like to work for it! And I understand the ins and outs of how local government is and how to support that - But I don’t want it to come across as too political or that I would be a problem working with others because of that. Granted I’m in a very blue city and I don’t foresee a huge issue but it would be a cool gig and I’m not getting my hopes too high but I’d like a chance. I’m asking mainly if this is something I SHOULD include or if I don’t at all, or if I find a way to include it but fuzzy it up a bit so it’s not as blatant
thank you for all you do in providing us information ❤️❤️❤️
Cutie pie, you are so very welcome.
And actually, I strongly recommend you include all your grassroots organizing in your application! It shows you're active and knowledgeable about local politics, and I believe that'll make you stand out more than... blandly shuffling your important values under the rug. Public servants ought to care about something. Let your passion for change and helping others shine through.
