im torn between despising antonelli or being an adult about this by recognizing that, despite the infantilization being absurd, he is still a young as hell person surrounded by people who are using and feeding off of him just as they with george.
I know how this horrible team does things. The dream isn't Kimi Antonelli being the youngest wdc. It's Mercedes having the youngest wdc.
If you ask me, antonelli is deadass being used. Groomed even, to develop the same fucked up loyalty every top teams wants to sow into their assets drivers.
For instance, antonelli seems to genuinely be an ayrton senna fan, so i think it's convenient that his team is pushing this story of him being the second coming of his idol. Or not stopping the whole "dad max" narrative or "he is verstappen 0.2 in the making".
saw someone say that Kimi's victories feel as if his diary is coming to life and, jokes aside, i think that's how they are grooming him. Giving him everything he could want, building this work environment when he's the kid everyone loves, manufacturing an illusion of safety, of family.
Because that's what it is.
Kimi isn't safe in there. He's gullible, he has dreams, ambitions and a group of professionals all making him believe this shit.
It sounds paranoid as hell but -
I truly feel like Kimi is blind to how he will one day be fucked over by Mercedes, that he won't be the exception. This sport is a business, and it chews out the drivers when they no longer make the profit or fit the brand.
Which takes me to my horrible suspicion that George might not leave that team. Ever.
He is their perfect marketing doll.
He is a safe bet. A consistent driver when he is not being dogwalked. He can be their good boy who takes the blame for the team, who helps them save face.
George Russell is the perfect employee because Mercedes has done him dirty since day one, since they let him stay in Williams for so long, since they barely did anything in emailgate, since they allowed for f1 media and discussion spaces to completely misunderstand George and twist his personality and everything he stands for.
And if Kimi Antonelli thinks he will be coming out unscathed from that psych ward -
