you ever have just like, a really bad idea
anyways if you like bad things here’s a postcard
I was trying to figure out why this post starting spiking recently and then I found out you animals had this queued for Mother’s Day
unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.
bonus it ALSO fills that dopamine hit of in-person shopping. “oh I didn’t go in looking for this but hmm, I’m tempted… I can’t resist… oh ho ho I have made some irresponsible decisions at the library today [carrying my stack of ten random books]” and then it doesn’t even matter if you don’t like them because a) free b) you’re gonna give them back anyway
Librarian here! Please please please please PLEASE do this! We don’t have any way to know if you read them, and we don’t care! We’re happy to see those books go out because that helps our stats. And that affects how much money we can get.
So grab that silly paperback romance, and maybe this new YA fantasy, oh and check for the new movies too! And don’t forget to check Libby and hoopla for music and ebooks and e-audio.

I am sending out ARCs in 6 weeks. And i have decided to rewrite my resolution and epilogue.
I do well with deadlines but man am I pushing myself
EPIC THE MUSICAL IS GETTING AN ANIMATED MOVIE I'M SO STOKED
I am crossing all my fingers that they're able to get the original voice cast for the movie. They have to at least try, right? I mean the movie is guaranteed to bring in profits, they already have a huge audience foaming at the mouth to give them money, so they don't need to go crazy trying to get big names in the door.
I just. Need this movie immediately exactly as we know it from the concept album.
I'm having Thoughts about Descendants: Rise of Red again so now you all get to read about them.
Because this movie was a mess and I don't think it quite manages to be a Hot mess. Time Travel often is, it's a very hard trope to pull off correctly and by golly Descendants missed the mark by a wide margin.
number 1: The entire premise for sending Red and Chloe back in time is to alter the Red Queen's personality. By definition, accomplishing this would erase the reason they went back in time and we're left with a paradox. I don't mind ignoring this paradox so much if the rest of the movie is good, but. It's not.
(To be clear I thought the characters they introduced were great, but they squeezed so much into the movie nothing was fully explored)
number 2: Red and Chloe accomplish nothing. They did not prevent the prank by catching Uliana and her crew in Merlin's office. The books would have been a trap either way, which means Uliana would have gotten caught in the original timeline, and the prank still happened. So the girls didn't change anything, and there's no reason the Red Queen should have changed when they went back to the present.
number 3: they spent the whole movie building up to the Castle Dance and we didn't get a Castle Dance. The girls went back to the future before the dance happened. I'm very salty about this.
number 4: Red and Chloe could have prevented the prank with one very simple action: Telling Bridgette about it. All they had to do was go up to her, say "Hey we were worried about Uliana retaliating against you and spied on her, heard about her plan to give you a cupcake to turn you into a monster, so don't eat any weird cupcakes, mkay."
(Now, obviously, this skirts around the moral quandary Chloe wrestled with and isn't nearly as dramatic, so, of course we can't do that. But imagine a movie where they did tell Bridgette, and then we get the Castle Dance, and all the drama we could have had there from the girls trying to keep the cupcake away from her and Bridgette opting to eat the cupcake anyway to try and be Uliana's friend or something. Like we could have gone in some really interesting directions here.)
Ultimately a lot of this movie suffers from a pacing issue, which is common in DC original movies. They're trying to fit big epic storylines in a kid's movie time slot, so everything has to move pretty quickly.
But the girls did not change anything when they went back in time and I will not forgive that plot hole.
the king has abruptly fired 60% of his wizard staff, so he’s about to be abruptly surprised at who floated 100% of his formerly floating sky castle
I heard they're planning to maintain their levitation rites with autonomous constructs from now on, saying wizards are going to be totally obsolete within the season... so, ah, I'd invest in falling island insurance.

I was lucky enough to pitch my dragon rider book in person to an agent yesterday and they loved everything about it! I'm sending them the full manuscript tomorrow and fingers crossed they love that too!
Spelling mistakes? I guarantee neither of us saw those at 3:00 AM Monday Morning.

I just want to start by saying that no, I am not a fan of gen ai. I avoid ai-generated fic if I came across one that's properly tagged as such. but I still don't agree with people who say "you (general you) are a bad, terrible person if you use gen ai". because while the usage of gen ai can indeed be bad and extremely harmful, that still doesn't necessarily always mean "everybody who uses it is pure evil". I feel like people are much, much more complicated than whether or not they use gen ai.
a lot of my friends and family members openly use it. and while I don't agree with their actions, I know for a fact they aren't bad, evil people. I guess my point is that you can disagree with someone's action, and you can absolutely think their action is terrible and harmful, without letting this one terrible and harmful action define their entire self-worth and label them as "an evil person". humans are so much more than that.
harassment will not make you the good guy.
Yeah. But also, this is so relevant to so many topics:
“Harassment will not make you the good guy”
