theres definitely a line of thought ive noticed in liberal circles and in media and stuff where they think that bad stuff works and is true but is just bad for some moral reason.
but the thing is that this stuff is just factually wrong. eugenics doesnt work. race science isnt true. theyre morally wrong, yes, but theyre also factually incorrect, ideas that are deployed in service of monstrous ideology despite the fact that they simply arent true.
and its a major impediment to effectively combating these ideas, because if you concede their premises, you have already given ground to your enemies.
even if God were real, it would be necessary to depose him
With your help, we will bring an end to the Kingdom of Heaven and enact the People's Republic of Heaven
No I'm going to burn Heaven to the ground. Hell too. Worship the present and the world of the living instead. The world is beautiful you don't need a different imaginary one. Live here. Look at that mountain, the sea, the sky, the sun, the trees. These are gods and family members at the same time. Take my hand and live in the world with me. It's beautiful HERE. It's beautiful NOW. And if you see litter on the ground, pick it up. If you see something wrong, fix it. You are a member of this great and beautiful organism called Earth.
Tragedy alignment chart. Feel free to use, but please reblog if you do.
And of course the second part of the tragedy, which is: which quadrant did you think you were in vs. which one you were really in
Kind of tired of how other queer and asexual folks keep pushing compulsive sexuality, and moralizing having sex or sexual thoughts.
Like, I'm tired of the "better be a pervert than a prude", the "we all are a little freaky", the "asexuals write the best smut", the "we don't want prudes to be writing hcs"... Like, we have to participate in sexual topics and behaviors to be normal, or we are prudes (can y'all stop judging and insulting people based on their personal experience with sex? Y'all learn that "virgin" was a bad insult and turn to use "prude" instead but you are still doing the same bs)
The fucking "Well, if people call you a puritan, maybe it's because you sound like one" posts being frequently posted in the asexual and sex-repulsed tags, because asexuals need to watch how they talk and complain about sex being forced unto them again, and again, and again, or they will be linked to purity culture (even tho purity culture STILL WANTS PEOPLE TO HAVE SEX, BUT ONLY AFTER MARRIAGE AND IN A HETERO RELATIONSHIP. PURITY CULTURE IS NOT SEXLESS), while queer folks continue again and again to paint it as morally superior to be a pervert (it's morally neutral. You being horny 24/7 doesn't make you morally superior to anyone).
Y'all love to reblog posts that say the basic "asexuals are valids!" but also reblog and post a ton of posts saying that being a "prude" is bad, not being a pervert is bad, every human is a pervert deep inside and people that denies it are bad, not being into kinky sex is bad, not being comfortable with some kinks is bad, not wanting to participate in some sexual acts is bad... So no, I do not feel valid and I do not feel supported, I feel exactly the same as before I discovered asexuality: broken and inhuman.
a while ago we saw someone get mad at a sex-repulsed ace for saying they were uncomfortable with perversion being pushed as a moral necessity and their response was to say, "no, by not wanting sex, you're ALSO a pervert, because the definition of pervert in the dictionary is 'someone who goes against the societal norm.'" then someone reblogged and passive-aggressively added, "people love complaining about things without looking up the dictionary" and it just really, really put us off. it just feels like them trying to shield themselves from criticism instead of actually listening to people who are uncomfortable with what they're saying.
"oh but the dictionary definition is this" doesn't mean anything when the commonly understood definition is clearly being used in this context. i severely doubt OP had sex-repulsed aces in mind when talking about it being a moral imperative to "get more perverted" because i have to imagine the post was being written with the commonly understood definition in mind.
like. is it really that hard to understand why someone who's sex-repulsed would be uncomfortable with being called "perverted" even if it's technically "accurate to the dictionary"? is it really that hard to show compassion and understanding to people who, by your own admission, are also going against the societal norm?
by the way, if anyone wants an easy shorthand for "going against societal norm" in this context, that already exists. it's "queer".
When I have people on this same website argue against me that asexuals killed or persecuted for being "sexual deviants" (because they don't follow the norm) do not count as asexuals being targeted for their sexuality because the word "asexual" isn't pronounced/written or they don't know what we actually are, they really only count us as "pervert" to be acephobic, and we aren't when it can be used against us.
I also do not want to be called a pervert, just like I don't want to be called a whore for how I dress or to call someone a whore because they have a lot of sex. Just because people doesn't mean harm while doing it doesn't erase the historical negative connotations that are still used today. (Also, implying that someone is a sex worker because they like sex is still fucked up, idc. It's erasing the relationship they have with their sexual partner(s) and reducing it to a worker and customer one)

In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah it’s one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink they’ll fix the fucking system.
So I thought y'all would like this too This great white comes to the jersey shore every year and this year they named her and have been tracking her hella so this is Mary Lee and she decided to show herself under this rainbow for pride month A true gay icon
#This is the representation I’ve been looking for
Maryland will become the first US state to ban surveillance pricing in retail stores, after passing Protection from Predatory Pricing Act.
Jesus fucking christ that this exists in the first place
I WAS FUCKING WONDERING WHAT THOSE DIGITAL PRICE TAGS WERE ABOUT SUDDENLY i had hoped they were so the workers didn't have to finagle those little papers into the slider part anymore 😭
Hi, yes, that is the OFFICIAL excuse made to me by the guy replacing the paper tags with digital ones at my local Walmart, but the end goal is to remove the numbers off the shelf entirely, replacing them with QR codes that you have to scan with the app…. Which requires your login information….. and also stores your card information so even if you didn’t use your Walmart account at the physical checkout, if you used a card they recognize, they assign that purchase to your Walmart account purchase history.
I explained very clearly to the manager my issue with the meat section not having the price tags listed, and they claimed it was only going to be for the meat, since meat is by weight, and the price of each item is printed on the packs of each item.
Sure. That’s how they get their foot in the door. Fast forward not even two weeks, and here we are:
Bar codes. No prices, no item descriptions. No price stickers on the individual items. Heck, not even the name of the item that is SUPPOSED to be there.
No. The only way to see the price is to scan it on your phone app, which is also recording what you looked at recently, as a way of gauging what you might be looking for in the future.
So here’s what we’re gonna do gang:
Every time you go into a store that has implemented these price-less tags:
Take 1-3 items up to the cash register. Ask the cashier for the price, or hit the price check item on the self checkout, which will likely call over the attendant.
Express that you didn’t actually want it, you just couldn’t see on the shelf how much it was.
POLITELY, AND WITH A THANK YOU FOR THE PRICE CONFIRMATION, Give the items to the cashier or attendant to put back.
When they inevitably try to push the app, politely decline. If pressed for why not, say you don’t want to have to carry your phone in-hand the whole time you are shopping in order to see how much things cost. (Not having cell service or data to use the app is NOT a valid excuse, as stores already often have complimentary WiFi AND more stores will provide WiFi rather than give up on this push for surveillance pricing)
If it’s a shelf-stable item, the cashier will have to set it aside, taking up room in their limited operating space, and eventually pass it off to someone to put in a holding area to put back later. If it’s a fridge/freezer item, it might have to get tossed due to food product sale regulations.
In either case, you are making it a pain in the ass for them to have these digital bar codes. Tie up the checkouts. Give the employees more busywork that the company has to pay them to do. Hurt their bottom line having to toss the pint of ice cream you carried around in your cart for 20 minutes before giving it back to the cashier.
Yes, call your reps. Yes, push for more legislation like this in more places. But also take an extra minute out of your shopping trip to MAKE IT HURT for companies to pull this shit.
I've seen some people in the notes express (very fair) concern that this is only going to inconvenience already under-paid laborers, and not have any impact on corporate. While I can't speak for every company or every store, I do work in a grocery store and I can tell you this is precisely the kind of thing that would have an impact, especially if people are doing it en masse. Stores absolutely track their shrink numbers, and they do draw distinctions between what gets stolen, damaged, or wasted for other reasons. If people are making it clear that the reason they're bringing things to the cashier is that the prices are not adequately represented on the displays, and rather than improving business it's wasting product, slowing down transactions, and causing confusion and mistrust in customers, that is a language that shareholders speak.
I worked in retail for years. If this had happened while I was working retail, I would have been delighted and felt great solidarity with anyone who was wasting my employer's time and money and giving me busy work as an act of protest. In point of fact every moment the employee spends carting items back to the shelves is a moment not spent standing at a register.
paraguay you had one job

Occasionally forget people genuinely think capitalism is thousands of years old
One time I was talking about Robin Hood with some coworkers and one guy was like “he was bad because the people he helped learned to expect handouts” and I wanted to be like… okay can you explain how that flawed capitalist propaganda applies to feudalism
reminder that capitalism was literally invented in the 16th century
That’s an exaggeration. What was invented in the 16th century was mercantilism. Capitalism really dates for the beginning of the nineteenth century, with the rise of industry and cash crops over artisans and merchants. Vulture capitalism, with the notion that companies have no duties other than generating profit, is even younger.
Capitalism is only 200 years old and I have to say, they have not been an impressive 200 years
I think a lot of this comes from the fact that most people don’t know the formal definition of capitalism. We all know the word, we’ve all seen the jokes, but very few people bother to actually define it unless they’re talking about political theory and philosophy, so it’s easy to end up with the impression that Capitalism = Money Can Be Exchanged For Goods And Services.
Capitalism is the economic system where most of the means of production (i.e. everything people need to have to make the stuff that everyone wants) are owned by private individuals or corporations, who then hire people to provide the labor necessary to produce things, with the intent of selling the output at a profit. It’s the difference between “you’re a carpenter and you make a chair and you sell it” and “you’re Richard Q. Richington who owns a chair factory, and you pay people to sell the chairs you paid other people to make and then all the excess money goes back to you.” There have been Richard Q. Richingtons on and off throughout history, but that being the norm for every single industry is a pretty recent development.
An alarming amount of people seem to think capitalism = all trade, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
inshaallah it will happen
He fears some people won't bother playing a game if they think they can get the same experience from just watching it
One of those developers is Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. He recently talked about the special threat that streaming can pose to certain games in an interview following the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Revelation at Summer Game Fest last week. “One thing RPGs like Final Fantasy need to be careful about today is the possibility that people might simply watch a stream and feel satisfied without ever playing the game themselves,” he told 4Gamer, according to a translation by Automaton. “This is a bit of a crisis for the work itself, or rather, it’s not something game creators can wholeheartedly celebrate.
I mean I guess in theory, sure, but it's probably more like buying games used in that the amount of people who would otherwise have bought the game at full price but didn't is negligible compared to the people who probably wouldn't have bought the game at all but now have a lower barrier of entry so are willing to try it.
Especially because games and hardware are really fucking expensive

The Ikea biphobia couch is the funniest thing that's ever happened. We found it gang. Nothing will ever top it in terms of being funny.
The what???
The Ikea biphobia couch.

I don't know what to tell you man.
That was the exact thought process
That comment is spot on AND sciatica stretches are legit. The best treatment for sciatica is get stretchy.
Signed: Willem Defoe fan with sciatica
For anyone who doesn’t know, Sciatica is pain due to compression of the sciatic nerve, which runs from your buttocks down the back of your leg. The reason this stretch is helpful is because the sciatic nerve, after leaving your spinal cord, immediately runs just underneath - and may get compressed by - the Piriformis muscle deep in your buttcheek, which helps you externally rotate your hip. (If the muscle is super tight, your toes on that side might actually point further out when you lie down compared to the toes on your other foot, jsyk).
If the above stretch ain’t compatible with you for reasons like having bitch ass knees, here are some alternative and amazing stretches for the muscle in order of easiest to hardest (but imo least to most helpful) to perform:
However, just keep in mind that none of these stretches will help you if you have a herniated disc, which compresses the nerve roots that protrude from the spine itself! For that you’ll for sure need some different medical intervention.
Have fun!
