hey I am starting 24/7 diapers saw your post on Reddit do you have any tips for wearing
Thank you for the ask anon 💕
I got a lot of great tips when I announced my 24/7 journey! These are in no particular order.
1. Be respectful and aware in public!
This one should go without saying, but make sure you're acting and dressing appropriately for wherever you are. Just be mindful of the people around you.
2. Make sure your diapers fit properly!
A properly fitting diaper is essential! If the legs are too loose, you are gonna have leaks. But if they are too tight you are going to have uncomfortable rubbing. Every company has slightly different sizing and cuts, so don’t be afraid to branch out and try different diapers.
3. Change often and take little breaks!
I know it's tempting to stay in a nice squishy diaper, but if you're starting to feel wetness against your skin, it's probably time for a change. Also, don't forget to shower regularly! Keeping your skin clean and dry will help prevent rashes
4. Find a skincare routine that works for you.
Everyone's skin is different, so what works for me might not work for you. Personally, I use a thin layer of barrier cream and some powder. Just make sure you're completely dry before putting barrier cream on, otherwise you're just trapping that moisture against your skin.
5. Think about the cost before you decide.
24/7 can get expensive really quickly, so make sure it's something you can actually afford long term. Don’t go without important essentials or into debt, if you don’t need diapers for medical reasons!
6. Make sure you always keep a changing kit with you!
Keeping a spare diaper/pull-up and changing kit, is going to make you feel more secure out In public!
7. Don't expect everything to go perfectly.
Leaks happen. You'll probably forget supplies at some point, and your routine will likely change as you learn what works best for you. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's all part of the learning process.
