Should have just stopped that colorism TBH, blaming it on white people is an oversimplification, believe it or not people the world over have been smart enough to recognize that these sorts of colors which are most likely to reveal who when they get dirty are the lighter ones, like. People in East Asia, South Asia etc. never needed white people to explain to them that hey, if you really want to show how super duper clean you are, go put on some white clothes because if those get even a tiny bit dirty than you and everyone else will know. There is a classism element as well, if your skin is pale than it is more likely to me in that you have the wealth and means to be able to spend most of your time inside, what's generally would preclude you from hard manual labor. So it doesn't take a white person to explain to people that if you are tan it means you are more likely to be poor because you work in the fields, and if you need a reason to wear dark clothing it's probably because you get dirty a lot.
