Also (while I’m getting angry about fandom treatment of aroace characters) shout out Riz Gukgak!! Always thinking about that post that used Baron as ‘proof’ that “Riz would be gay if he wasn’t aroace.” And Kristen would be straight if she wasn’t a lesbian and the word would be made of pudding if it wasn’t not made out of pudding.

#and also obviously Riz is a goblin #BUT I think it may be also in big part to do with Murph being the only white guy pc #his characters always get the most attention #and for some reason Adaine gets headcanoned (and sidelined tbh) as completely disattached aroace #despite having a love interest in s3 and not having an entire subplot about romantic aversion like Riz

To be quite honest with you all I do think that aro/ace-spectrum fans in fandoms where people are desperately inventing crossover ships and humanizing non-human characters in order to have a conventionally attractive guy to ship the main character with, instead of possibly having to enjoy a story with no romance in it, have the right to refer to everyone else as cowards.

And isn’t that the entire question with hardshine. The way I see them oscillates so much, esp with my relisten to c1, and I think that’s the fun of them. That maybe they can be something incomprehensible to anyone including themselves. I love the way Jake and Emily describe them in short rest 99, as going out to bars together and wing-manning but always coming home to the same bed.

I also think a lot about the exact flavor of their secret third thing, and how it’s not entirely romantic, not entirely platonic, but also part religious, like with Hardwon using the word ‘worship’ in ep 99, with Moonshine literally remaking Hardwon in part in her image, with Hardwon gaining something to believe in and Moonshine gaining someone who so fully and solely believes in her. And yet at the same time it’s so at odds with their actual dynamic where they’re really just best friends who are loud and gross with each other. They contain so many multitudes.

19. An ideal free day for them would look like? What are they doing on that day?

LAZY AFTERNOONS AND ROWDY EVENINGS!!!!!! Idk something about Emily’s description of that has always driven me so crazy, absolutely perfect happy ending for the two of them. Just kicking around the Crick doing whatever and then getting dangerously intoxicated and setting something on fire.

Possum mom and human dwarf live together for two centuries and cannot have a straightforward conversation about their feelings. Their love will change the way you think about relationships.
