EVERYTHING... He was my teenage crush and I still squeal when I see him in game. I love that he immediately introduces himself as Hershel's intellectual equal, I love the sinking feeling in my stomach when it was revealed that we weren't actually in the future and therefore This Guy Couldn't Be Luke, I love his Evil Sexy Laugh, I love how unnecessary dramatic his plan is, I love that his whole murder-suicide plot still leaves him alive to face the consequences of his actions in the end, I love that he is immediately willing to put in the work to fix or at least pay for what he broke, I love that he loves Hershel (🥺), I love his eventual talk with Claire, I love his tie and his waistcoat and his hat and even the blasted socks. There would be no Félix in my life if Clive hadn't first carved a space in my heart for complex British antagonists!

Clive represents the child they could have had. Hence why he’s so smart he can rival our protagonist in a battle of wits. Hence why he’s saved by both Hershel and Claire at different points in his story. Hence why the mobile fortress is defeated by a simple pocket watch, the ultimate symbol of their love. Hence why he’s close to the Professor on the box, where Luke would typically be:
