I do think that most character vs character speculation in Avatar are largely influenced by people’s own bias and preference and largely silly because it depends on the circumstances of the fight a lot more than people think but there’s a bit of discourse about if Azula could beat Aang in the Avatar State because apparently one of the creators said she could and people are doubting this and I just find that so funny because like

It’s weird having my sister suddenly understand things that I’ve been into for years because for example I watched ATLA literally on the day it premiered when I was 10 and she never watched it but now 20+ years later she has seen every episode of atla and lok because my nephews got into it after I suggested showing it to them and so now I’ll be explaining like fandom lore things to her about it that she missed and it feels like she shouldn’t understand

Them on that Iceberg and Rangi thinks Kyoshi is drunk because she found Kyoshi smelling like alcohol and planking face down in front of her tent and had to drag her into the tent

Also Kyoshi being worried the whole time that she’s gonna lose her job is hilarious

Anyway my nephews are deeply into Avatar and specifically for some reason LoK right now and I’m not complaining about it, it’s just random, and we were talking about the new series and how Korra “destroyed the world” and I had to explain like the concept of a red herring to them because they’re 8. And then that lead to us talking about what could have really happened and I jokingly said it was like a Mines of Moria situation where someone (probably Asami since she’s the industry person) dug too deep and broke something in the world and Korra decided to take the blame for it (because it’s probably Asami that did it)

Apparently Asami’s mom was killed when she was like six. I dont think it’s clear exactly when Hiroshi started getting involved with the Equalists but it was probably soonish after given Asami never saw signs of him changing or getting more obsessed and he was always just like this so the reveal took her off guard. And sometimes people don’t start showing signs of bending until they’re as old as 8, like Zuko, and so you’ll assume they can’t bend until all of a sudden they can

Kyoshi is so funny because immediately after being saved and escorted back to her work by Rangi, she recited Kuruk’s love poem to Hei-Ran from memory without knowing it existed or that he was in love with Hei-Ran. Then when told about this was like “damn if I’m the Avatar then I guess Kuruk’s romantic feelings for Hei-Ran are eternal and cross multiple incarnations. Anyway it’s good they didn’t get together because then there’d be no Rangi.”
