Different Stories Resonate with Different People
I will always reblog this.
Now imagine if instead of saying βI donβt understand why you make these stories, but you do youβ and fucking off to look at stories they do like, that character instead says βyour stories are ugly and unwanted, no decent person should tolerate you making themβ and rallies the others to ban the creation of these kind of stories, shame the creator out of town, and declare anyone who would want such a story to be nasty and gross.
ππππππππ nonblack America might lose their shit... But me personally... I would like to see the vision πππππ
OOOOOOOOOOooooooooohhhhhhhhh........that would be PERFECT casting.
Esposito does dangerously smart villains that fuck with your world-view really well and Denzel has this great soft on the outside, hard as diamond on the inside hero vibe, that would be an awesome combo.
I had a nightmare last night.
I was a reporter.
Finally, here is Part 2 as an addition to the original post. Enjoy.
I spent a lot of time thinking about The Rules, and wondering how things worked. Thank you for reading.
Part 3 coming soon.

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
nothing on this god's green earth can convince me that peter parker doesn't have an ao3 account where he is elbows deep in a 'rise of skywalker' fix-it fic. like, fully invested in it, been writing it pre-spider bite with ned, who is just as enthusiastic about it. but the thing is, it's really hard to do updates when you are literally spider-man.
every three months he'll post and in the author's note there's some shit like "sorry this took a while, i got shot seven times :/" or "i know it's been a minute, i literally got hit by a bus and then stabbed in the leg, but i'm all good!" or sometimes ned would log in and post with a note "hey i'm a friend posting on the author's behalf, they're healing from severe hypothermia but promised an update, so here it is!"
and the fic just gets increasingly more popular for the author notes alone. a good handful of the comments are something along the lines of "i'm not even in the star wars fandom, i'm just here to see if the author is good" or "every update i cheer for another day the author gets to live at this point"
and any reader who is a native new yorker kind of pieces together that holy shit the author might be spider-man because the timeline adds up, and they just fully embrace it. spider-man will stop a robbery and the guy behind the counter will ask when the next chapter will be up. spider-man returns a stolen backpack to a girl and she'll tell him that he "really got poe's voice down so well, it's really impressive."
ned thinks it is hilarious. mj finds out about the fic from twitter, to peter's absolute horror, and changes peter's contact name to "friendly neighborhood ao3 author". but the worst thing to happen is after an avengers battle where peter took a pretty big hit and ends up in med-bay. and during a press conference, when someone asks how spider-man is healing, tony just drops "spidey won't be down for too long. the star wars fic will be updated within the week, probably."
ao3 goes down for two days.

Eurovision as Israel's tool to influence international opinion Summary of the article: At the end of last year, senior Israeli diplomats urgently contacted officials and television broadcasters across Europe to push for Israel's continued representation at the Eurovision Song Contest, as there was a strong push to ban them. (.....so much for "this isn't a political event") The Israeli government sees Eurovision as a way to patch Israel's damaged reputation and rally international support through its' artists performance on an international stage and the votes they receive. Israeli officials believe that a strong israeli performance would be perceived as a signal that Israel was loved by the European public. The nonprofit European Broadcasting Union, which runs the contest, faces financial challenges. (While Moroccan Oil, an israeli company, is one of the Eurovisions' biggest sponsors.) Governments intervening in the voting has always been frowned upon and is now officially very strongly restricted, and yet the israeli government has intervened in the voting repeatedly in unprecedented ways for the last years. In 2018, the year that Israel won, the israeli government spent more than $100,000 on social media promotion. Financial records show that the Israeli government spent more than $800,000 on Eurovision marketing in MalmΓΆ in 2024, with the israeli Foreign Office promoting Israel's singer on platforms like Youtube. This was partially funded with the help of Israel's βHasbaraβ budget (aka "public diplomacy"). That year, Israel's singer came in second, as it topped the voting, even in many nations where pro-Palestinian sentiment was strong. The israeli news site Ynet wrote: βThe world, it seems, is not against us.β. Israel's president, Isaac Herzog, stated that "Israelβs voice should be heard everywhere. We should participate, we should raise our flag high.". It is notable that so far, in some countries, it is possible to tip the popular vote with the help of only a few hundred people voting a certain way, which likely contributed to Israel winning the popular vote in countries where Israel is deeply unpopular. In 2025, Israel came in second again, after the Israeli government had bought online ads in several languages, asking people to vote for Israel up to the possible maximum of 20 times. This was not only pushed by Netanyahu himself, but also by people like Israelβs deputy ambassador to Austria. Again, an analysis of the vote data showed how this could have easily affected the outcome of the contest. But even though several broadcasters demanded a thorough investigation, only a superficial, purely interal one, on "top line data" was done. When broadcasters from several countries threatened to boycott the 2026 Eurovision contest, an emergency vote on Israel's exclusion was scheduled, but it was cancelled last minute. Broadcasters were discouraged from speaking with journalists. Israeli embassies were documented contacting some of the broadcasters about the contest. In december 2025, a meeting was held to vote on limiting each viewer to 10 votes and discouraging disproportionate promotion campaigns. This vote was tied to the condition of keeping Israel in Eurovision, without there being a vote on the issue itself. Five countries, some of them major contributors to the contest, dissented and began to boycott the event. This year, the israeli government has yet again begun circulating social media promotions for the israeli candidate, calling for people to vote for him 10 times, with the Eurovision organizers being forced to ask Israel to remove the posts and issue a formal warning.

watching the documentary on the OceanGate Titan disaster and it's striking how Stockton Rush wanted to emulate Elon Musk and in many ways he did, identifying weight as the core constraint of submarine operations (lifting and hauling the sub around as being the primary expense) and basing the entire concept around making it as light as possible, but then he overrode every engineer who told him in explicit terms that it was going to pancake, and it pancaked.
also quite reminiscent of Richard Branson's space experiments, which did at least have Burt Rutan as a designer, but the same breed of dickhead CEO at the head.
goddamn the Titan had acoustic monitoring sensors and you can literally hear the carbon fiber in the hull cracking louder and louder as they descend on test dives, but the CEO was angry that they were even bothering to monitor it and refused to accept that it was dangerous, and he wasn't just risking other people, he was on the damn thing himself! he was just that deep in denial and unwilling to accept reality.
DISCLAIMER: intense yap session from someone PUTTING THINGS INTO LAYMENβS TERMS to make it easier for everyone to understand πββοΈ
As someone whoβs Obsessedβ’οΈ with this tragically yet sadly predictable story, weβd like to take a moment and yap about how crazy insane the Real Time Acoustic Monitoring System for Carbon Fiber for a DEEP SEA PRESSURE VEHICLE is.
First of all. The fact that Stockton Rush decided to make a DEEP SEA PRESSURE VESSEL out of carbon fiber, a material that is famous for its tensile (pulling) strength NOT pressure (push). Pressure. Which is very much in the DEEP SEA. Where the VEHICLE is going (if we remember correctly, the pressure in the ocean increases by 10 atmospheres of pressure- ie 1 atmosphere of pressure being what the atmospheric pressure is at sea level -for every 10 meters you descend. Space, on the other hand, is between 1 and 0 atmospheres of pressure). The ocean wants to squish you into biological paste so, so, so, so, so very badly.
Everyone and their mother are telling Stockton Rush that using carbon fiber is a Shitass Bad Idea. Not only does logically it make no sense to use (again, good with PULLING not BEING PUSHED, which is what pressure is) but it just hasnβt been tested the way other materials, such as titanium, have been. We know what the failure point of titanium is. We know when Catastrophic Failure happens in titanium. We know how many cycles of fatigue/stress titanium can withstand before Catastrophic Failure happens. When know how titanium behaves Before That Happens.
Carbon fiber?? We donβt know those things about carbon fiber, when it comes to DEEP SEA PRESSURE FATIGUE/STRESS. Itβs a material used for PULLING not PUSHING. So it hasnβt even been tested for DEEP SEA PRESSURE. Because itβs not meant for deep sea pressure. And weβre about to show you how very Not meant for DEEP SEA PRESSURE that carbon fiber is.
Hereβs a generic chat that gives you an idea of what we mean when we say Titanium Is Predictable. This chart isnβt about titanium specifically, but we can pretend it is. You can look at the colors and understand what the chart is telling you. We can see the curve and whatβs a Warning and whatβs Bad. The red is Bad. You donβt want to be in the red. The curve of the chart shows that you have time to predict the red before it goes to red.
Hereβs an actual chart of titanium under stress, along with a steel and aluminum. Ough wow!! Look at those curves!! You donβt have to know exactly what youβre looking at to see and understand that the curves happen before the lines βflatlineβ. Thereβs a predictability before the lines of the chart βgo flatβ. This means you can understand the integrity of the titanium youβre using, and whether or not itβs safe to use, whether it can be worked on, or if it needs to be retired altogether.
Now letβs look at carbon fiber.
Thereβs no curve. Carbon fibers works, until suddenly it doesnβt. Thereβs no prediction for catastrophic failure- it just happens.
AND STOCKTON RUSH IS USING THIS MATERIAL IN AN APPLICATION IT SPECIFICALLY DOESNT WORK WITH (pushing- NOT pulling).
Well. The thing about Stockton Rush is that heβs going to Do What He Wants. So heβs going to build his vessel out of expired carbon fiber. Because itβs cheaper to transport and manufacture (remember, he planned on having a whole fleet of these things). He wanted to spend as little money as possible while making back as much profit as possible.
And Stockton Rush, with his background in aviation (imagine. for a moment. if a NASCAR driver decided to make a commercial airplane, and only used his knowledge of racing cars to do it. because thatβs essentially whatβs happening here) decided to use a Real Time Acoustic Monitoring System. Because carbon fiber is made up is a bunch of threads of carbon βbraidedβ (for lack of better term) together, when the UNPREDICTABLE- WE ALL SEE THAT CHART. WHERES THE CURVE RUSH- catastrophic failure happens, the threads βsnapβ apart as they break. So his thinking process is, the Real Time Acoustic Monitoring System would be able to βpredictβ when the carbon fiber was going to fail catastrophically.
For shits and giggles, hereβs applications acoustic monitoring systems are used for:
Please note that DEEP SEA PRESSURE VEHICLES are not on there. Damn near the rest of this IS in planes, however.
And. Cβmon. COME ON!!!!! LOOK at that chart!!!! Does it look like predicting the catastrophic failure of the carbon fiber is even going to matter?!? WHEN YOURE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GOD DAMNED OCEAN?!? Catastrophic failure at the depths the Titanic is at means IMPLOSION. The Real Time Monitoring System is a fart in the wind. Itβs Safety Theater (<- you will hear that a LOT when you watch documentaries and the investigation).
Except.
β¨ EXCEPT β¨
It actually fucking worked.
The Real Time Monitoring System actually DID work and actually DID predict the catastrophic failure of the carbon fiber before the catastrophic failure even happened.
And this is HUGE.
This is GROUND BREAKING.
This is the INNOVATION that Stockton Rush has had a hard on for since day one.
Except theyβre loosing money. And as OP said, Stockton Rush was upset that the carbon fiber had the audacity to snap, crackle and pop at all.
He was so mad in fact that, as we found out during the US Coast Guardsβ investigation, Stockton specifically had the graphs plotted for each dive in such a way so that the RTMSβ alert to the carbon fiberβs lack of structural integrity wasnβt readily obvious (instead of the graph showing the curves of stress fatigue, they were plotted to show depth with time).
Anyways. The fact that his crack pipe idea of using an acoustic monitoring system to predict a famously unpredictable material in an application itβs very much NOT used for and it actually WORKED is phenomenal. Unfortunately, Stockton Rush didnβt set out to find a way to make carbon fiber a viable material for deep sea pressure vessels, he set out to be βbig swinging dickβ like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. So he didnβt care, and how heβs dead because of his own hubris.

thank you for writing this in old school tumblr βbuckle up fuckos and learn you a thingβ diction, it is indeed incredible that the man invented a clever warning system that accurately told him his idea sucked and then ignored it, scroll of truth style
ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds
I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study
after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines
et voila
and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
and now, the birds
Birds 1 and 2/14: Red Winged Blackbird, Male and female, Agelaius phoeniceus
Bird 3/14, American Robin, Turdus migratorius
hoo boy, ok *out of breath*
GIVE IT UP FOR BIRD NUMBUH 5, THE CANADIAN GOOSE, Branta canadensis!!!!
this guy took me about 4 days to completely finish, all of those freakingk coverts were a bear to render
speaking of obnoxious coverts:
bird 5/14, Bluejay, Cyanocitta cristata
the friggin stripes almost got me chat, i may not make it
Madam....
birds 6 and 7: American Goldfinch, Spinus tristis, male and female
pleasantly simple to paint! next is the flickerrrrr
*melts into goo*
BIRD NUMBER 8, (yellow shafted) NORTHERN FLICKERRRRR, Colaptes auratus
genuinely made me start questioning my sanity around day 3, it's half the size the of the goose, WHY did it take me 4 days to finish??
nothing but pain and suffering, i'm sure hope the next bird will be much easier and with FAR less barring :)
in other news, I am losing my mind hairline
SHE'S DONE!!
Bird number 9: Red-tailed hawk, Buteo jamaicensis
my chains are broken i am FREE. although i did have a great deal of fun with this, the barring on the wings itself took me like four days and i am READY to move on
this was a week and a half of continuous work so please excuse me for getting a little emotional in the bg π
*does a little jig*
BIRD NUMBER 10!!! The Male Mallard Duck, Anas platyrhynchos
the male and female ones are gonna be posted separately bc they're taking a lot longer lol but yea! super happy i was able to capture the iridescent green of the head, i found metallic green and blue paint at a craft store that really made his head POP. it looks better in person i promise
ALSO!! As this is the 10th one, BIG announcement. The end is in sight!!!!! I plan to finish within the next 3 weeks and there will be a small dedication ceremony/ unveiling happening at the library to commemorate its completion on the 16th of May. If you live in the Western New York region and want to check it out for yourself shoot me a dm!
Also thank you everyone for your kind words and support throughout this whole process, it's been a genuine treat thinking there are potentially thousands of you out there cheering me on while I paint this π₯Ή

Is what my wife said apropo of nothing as we were silently drifting off to sleep
Uh oh
Is what she said when I immediately reached for my phone and opened Tumblr instead of responding
@everything-you-feel-is-real I know by tumblr tradition that I'm to say "impossible, my posts never blow up like that," or "please don't do this to me."
But I feel in my bones that you are right. If this is to be my wife's moment of glory, I am willing to suffer notification overload, that the world may know she is funny. #MyFunnyWife
