Looked around the candy store while I'm over here. It's a way bigger operation than we have; leaning towards factory scale (they were cutting and wrapping taffy by machine, everything we do is by hand. We will never not do everything by hand that's like our whole thing). There were 2 fudge loaves on the tables. Mine look way better

#i did Not buy fudge here for obvious reasons #did try a sample though. very different texture #softer? almost too soft #if i did that my boss would say its undercooked #but i know a lot of people assume soft=fresh so maybe that's what theyre going for

At least I got all the grass cut yesterday. I think people would have been mad at me if I left for 2 weeks before doing that

#if i hadn't found a working used mower yesterday id have had to hire someone to cut it #i don't like really short grass myself but i am within city limits so i do need to chop it occasionally #i want to replace a lot of this with a big vegetable garden and row of fruit trees and some herbs and #(look at me procrastinating from my Urgent Tasks again)

Ohh I should've dropped off my dry cleaning yesterday morning. Didn't realize the dry cleaner in town actually sends it to another city. And only once a week, which was. Yesterday

I planted ten little pawpaw trees today

Pawpaws are a Michigan native fruit that looks like it should not be a Michigan native fruit.

I'm told that it has the consistency of avocado, but tastes like a combination of banana, pineapple, and mango, with and earthy aftertaste. They are EXTREMELY delicate fruits, such that they are not really shipped anywhere- to eat them you have to find someplace local that has trees, or have trees, yourself.

I've always wanted to try them, so, I bought a few saplings, and spent a couple hours tonight planting them. They won't fruit for another 5 years at least. Each hole dug, each rootball excavated from its pot, each circle of mulch around the base of them... that's hope. That's a promise to be here 5 years from now, to see them flower, to pull sweet fruit from the limbs and try it for the first time.

A lot can happen in 5 years. But, I hope that you'll be here, too, to see how it turns out.

Lawn mower acquired. Unloaded it from my car by myself. Already want to take a nap and I haven't even started actually cutting the (way overgrown, I would not be surprised if this struggles) grass yet

It's doing surprisingly well for a mower almost as old as I am and small enough to pick up and fit in my car.

I looove when food is in a bowl. Frequently plates are being brought out and I'm thinking this could've been a bowl meal but nobody gets it

#ok sure this COULD go on a plate #but a bowl feels so much more secure you know #i can eat on upholstered furniture out of a bowl. wouldn't dare do that with a plate too much risk of spilling

I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

#the longfeather discord says Yes #it's a 1930s ge monitor top with a 1940s square replacement top #i saw it in a home improvement thrift store just sitting with the other fridges like it's not an actual antique #i don't know for sure if it works but there's a very good chance it does #and if it doesn't there's a whole forum of monitor top enthusiasts who would know how to fix it #(note that my current fridge is more than sufficient for my needs. it's half empty. i don't need a second fridge. i need a chest freezer)#(but! i like it)#edit: the store said it doesn't work. i could still try to fix it but considering i don't have a garage #and i was already struggling to find a place for it #that would mean having a partially disassembled fridge in my living room for however long it took to fix #which is less than ideal #also transportation is a problem
