like, you can glean from context keyleth was selected after her mother died, so, okay, is it a role she has to inherit like a crown? the thing with mastering all four elements, is that unique to her family? no one has mentioned that it HAS to be keyleth/keyleth's bloodline, so can she not abdicate to someone else? if the voice of the tempest lives for thousands of years, was there one before her? what happened to them? are they dead? if so, the ashari have clearly been without a voice of the tempest for at least twenty years, because keyleth's mother was supposed to be the replacement

i know this is for plot contrivance reasons probably but in what world would "hey the fucky orb beneath my city that's been doing absolutely nothing for about three years acted up the same night vex had to kill an undead abomination TWICE" be considered paranoid???
