weird ps1 game i found
You have to keep watching
the peas in instant ramen are made of missing people
I hate 2 say it but being a part of a “weird” subculture does not meaningfully inoculate you against a conservative moralizing impulse. You gotta unlearn that. Saying “cringe is dead” is not enough, you have to actually be okay with things that discomfort, perplex and/or disgust you.
Theistic evolution is kinda a silly concept, I get why it exists (and I'd rather ppl believe in evolution than not), but it's so obviously a compromise position.
Most ppl don't really think about somewhat contradictory beliefs they hold all that hard, so it's not stuff that causes that much actual strain or difficulty (most ppl are literally just living their lives and updating their worldviews occasionally with new information), but occasionally you do get ppl confidently declare stuff like "Well I believe god created the big bang" as a bold new enlightened synthesis of science and religion, as if that's not just kind of a cope.
I once held that cope, and with it, all the science in the world could not sway me.
History, on the other hand, did. Once I could trace the origin of various tenants of faith, well I could not help but see religion as a creation of naught but man.

Yeah well idk. I just find "he/him" pronouns pretty dehumanising¹ so I'm not really comfortable calling you that. I'm just gonna use she/her or it/its for you instead. Please respect my boundaries ok?
¹men aren't humans
"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is
Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.
Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.
You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.
Sex is not what makes someone an adult.
Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.
Sex is not equally important to everyone.
You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.
You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.
Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.
The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.
Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.
Firmly convinced the world would be a better place if we started treating sex the way we'd treat any other mundane preference in life, like what kind of chips a person likes to eat with their lunch.
tgis is so fucking funny to me. they accidentally Rock Lee'd a retired racehorse
imagine youre a fat horse and your new neighbour is a personal trainer
horse that reads Marcus Aurelius
I was wrong. they didnt rock lee him. this horse is literally Gai. and i wish he was my dad
being anti-divorce is so fucking bonkers to me like yeah i think you're morally obligated to stay with some shithead who you hate forever. this is a normal and healthy thing to believe. let's have kids together and force them to grow up being raised by two people who hate each other. yeah this might fuck them up mentally during the most formative years of their life but it's the morally righteous thing to do. if there's one thing god loves it's traumatized children. i'm getting into heaven for sure
Dude, there’s literal CIA documents on shifting. Seriously, it’s real. I can’t make you believe anything but telling someone to seek mental help over something they put their heart into is wrong. They’re not crazy. They just have their own dreams to follow. And I’d bet you seriously know nothing about it. I had really liked you before and your account but i’m just disappointed of you now. To some people, what you said would be like if someone told you to seek mental help or to go to a psych ward for being autistic. Again, you’re completely entitled to your own opinion, but you didn’t have to say it in a rude and ignorant way.
Dude, I never told anyone to go to a psych ward. Reality shifting is a lie created by internet influencers to take advantage of the mentally ill. And CIA documents? Show them to me and maybe I’ll believe you, but I know you won’t come off anon. Idgaf if you don’t like me anymore. I’m not going to believe in reality shifting and I stand by what I said for reality shifters to seek therapy. It’s not bad to tell someone to seek therapy. I’m in therapy. And it works. I know enough about it to make my own damn opinion. And my opinion is that it is preying on people’s mental health in a great time of trouble and need for escapism. I’ve seen people get incredibly distressed over things they’ve done in these alternate realities. Some people want to stay there. None of that is healthy.
Popular video creators claim to have actually visited other universes (especially fictional ones) in their sleep. They have millions of dedi
It’s a lie.

Back in 1983, the CIA wrote an obscure report looking to the 'Gateway Experience,' claiming that an altered state of human consciousness may
“It shouldn’t be treated as scientific.” Also, y’all know what pseudoscience is, right?
Yeah, it’s fake.
The CIA was throwing money at all sorts of BS back in the 60s and 70s, including psychics, remote viewing, mental "reprogramming" (which, incidentally, created the Unabomber as a byproduct), and an attempted assassination of Fidel Castro via exploding cigar. Just saying that the CIA funded it 50 years ago is not an endorsement of something's credibility--and, at least IMO, should be taken as a strike against it.
honestly the scariest thing for me about this is that this is literally step by step how to start a cult. i got really carried away writing this so i'm gonna say sorry in advance; this reply is going to be long as hell, but please if you have the time i beg you to read it ESPECIALLY if you're a young person. with the current climate of social media and the rise of propaganda it is absolutely necessary to know the signs of high-control groups / cults and how to get away from them. i've included a fuckton of sources, so even if you skim i recommend at least checking those out!
social media has completely changed the landscape of cult recruitment. influencers are in positions of power over large numbers of vulnerable young people, across multiple platforms where parasocial relationships are the norm. once they've gained trust it's shockingly easy to introduce their audience to concepts that alter their state of mind, and in this case make them believe they have literal powers; in the process they pull members away from anyone who says it's fake. imo they follow the mormon cycle nearly identically: they go out and talk about their beliefs, defend them against the (predictable) backlash, and when they are repeatedly rejected they return to the group to commiserate on all the perceived attacks against them. they will receive praise, love bombing, support, and validation from those around them; they are now emotionally reliant on the group, and collectively reinforce these beliefs which only deepens their delusions. it's interesting to me that they use these CIA documents as proof because they overlook what the documents were researching in the first place, which was literal mind control. the army also attempted astral projection / remote viewing in the 90s, and the project was discontinued because it never has and never will be real.
manufacturing a trance or hallucinatory state of mind allows for immense control over a large number of people with relatively minimal effort. contrary to popular belief, hallucinations and delusions can absolutely be induced, especially in groups where loyalty is built on 1. placing trust in the leader(s) and 2. bonding with other members who reinforce their doctrine.
many people (particularly vulnerable people) want to feel special. they want to feel included, like they're a part of something important, something the general population doesn't know about; they also desperately want to be told exactly what they want to hear. they're more likely to be drawn to groups that induce heightened emotional states and foster abnormally strong bonds based on those shared experiences. it doesn't matter that the experiences aren't real, because as a collective they will convince themselves of anything to make it feel real, and a charismatic leader feeds this even further. being taught something 'special' by someone they idolize, a person they are convinced they are personally and emotionally close to (someone whose job is literally called an influencer!!) can be a powerful, powerful drug.
a quick way to assess the likelihood of a group being a cult (or at least dangerously controlling) is by using the BITE model. examples include:
∆ Behaviour Control ∆
- major time spent with group indoctrination, rituals, and/or self indoctrination including over the internet
- financial exploitation, manipulation or dependence (parasocial relationships make people willing to spend significant amounts of money on the leader, and it's already normalized to donate/subscribe to an influencer)
- instill dependency and obedience
- discourage individualism, encourage group-think (many claim to preach individuality, but the deeper someone falls into the cult the more rigid group mentality becomes. they are told they're an independent thinker because their beliefs differ from non-cult members, but within the cult they follow the same rules and thought patterns)
∆ Information Control ∆
- deliberately withhold information
- distort information to make it more acceptable
- systematically lie to the cult member
- minimize or discourage access to non-cult sources of information including internet, TV, books, media, and critical information
- compartmentalize information into outsider vs. insider doctrines
- extensive use of cult-generated information and propaganda including audio, video, youtube, movies, and other media
- manipulation of memory, possible false memories- misquoting statements or using them out of context from non-cult sources (the CIA documents are a perfect example)
∆ Thought Control ∆
- require members to internalize the group’s doctrine as truth and/or adopt the group’s ‘map of reality’ as reality
- hypnotic techniques are used to alter mental states, undermine critical thinking and even to age regress the member
- memories are manipulated and false memories are created
- teaching thought-stopping techniques which shut down reality testing by stopping negative thoughts and allowing only positive thoughts, including denial, rationalization, justification, wishful thinking
- rejection of rational analysis, critical thinking, constructive criticism
- forbid critical questions about leader, doctrine, or policy allowed / label alternative belief systems as illegitimate, evil, or not useful
∆ Emotional Control ∆
- Promote feelings of guilt or unworthiness such as identity guilt, not living up to your potential, unwise affiliations, and social guilt; thoughts, feelings, and actions are irrelevant or selfish
- extremes of emotional highs and lows
- instill fear, such as fear of thinking independently, the outside world, enemies, or being shunned by the group
- there is never a legitimate reason to leave; those who leave are weak, undisciplined, unspiritual, or brainwashed by outsiders
communities based around various experiences with 'alternate reality' fit sooo many aspects of this model. as far as i know they are primarily online, so there are some aspects that cannot be controlled (such as where they live, physical punishment, or requiring permission to go places), but these communities can easily move offline as people become further immersed. hell groups like QAnon don't even come close to inducing this level of emotional obedience, and yet it's influence has destroyed lives, minds, relationships, and significant parts of society after only a few years of activity. here is an article that mentions both online and offline signs of a cult, here's one with steps to figure out if you're already in a cult, and here are some relevant(ish) real life cults for reference:
∆ Heaven's Gate ∆ (tw for mass suicide)
- a classic, and in my opinion one of the most relevant to these emerging tiktok communities. includes indoctrination via the internet, spiritual enlightenment and astral projection, aliens, and other similar beliefs.
∆ Order of the Solar Temple ∆ (tw for mass suicide and child abuse)
- includes fake astral projection and spiritual travel, conspiracy theories, religion, fake magic and miracles, and reincarnation
∆ The Church of Scientology ∆
OK 100% SERIOUS TIME FOR THIS ONE
- people tend to joke around and not take this cult seriously, which makes it even more powerful and scary. it is real, it is pervasive, it ruins lives, and it will use any and all tactics to recruit you. research critically and carefully, but DO NOT ENGAGE; do not talk to them, do not take their personality tests, do not attend or interact with their groups even for a joke or out of curiosity. they are trained experts at brainwashing, never ever assume you're too smart to fall for it; there are people smarter and older and more experienced than you who've been pulled in, and once you're in it's literally dangerous to attempt to leave)
∆ Fiat Lux ∆
- this cult includes attempting to induce higher states of consciousness, spiritual awakenings, aliens, astral projection, a leader who channels deities, the works.)
∆ Universe People aka Cosmic People of Light Powers ∆
- includes fake telepathy and channeling, astral projection, UFO's, significant information control as doctrine, etc.)
∆ The Church of Euthanasia ∆ (MASSIVE tw for encouraging suicide, actual suicide, murder, abortion, eugenics, and abuse)
- i put this one in because it uses the tactic of advocating for good causes (abortion rights, environmental protection, etc) to do horrific things, and much of it was spread via the internet using activism as a smokescreen. this is VERY common in online spaces, tiktok is overrun with this shit; the worst part is that it's often targeted specifically at young and/or mentally ill people, and it works)
∆ Unrecognized Cults - MLMs ∆
- multi-level marketing schemes (aka pyramid schemes) are often considered harmless or at most annoying, but it's important to note that the BITE model guidelines also describe these very common high-control groups. examples of particularly extreme ones include Young Living Essential Oils, Younique, LuLaRoe, and DoTerra. they are dangerous, recruit almost entirely through the internet, and target people without a strong support system and who are often financially desperate. here's a video breaking down how they work, and here's one about the devastating aftermath of being in an MLM. Here is a very helpful website to check if a company is an MLM, and here is an awesome list.
i highly encourage everyone to do their own research and GET IN THE HABIT OF FACT CHECKING CONSISTENTLY. here are some guides laying out how to spot misinformation, fact check, and find reliable sources.
anyway, if you've made it this far after all of that then thank you so so much! cults and other high-control groups are a pretty personal topic for me; both my mother and grandmother were involved in various MLMs and pseudoscience / alternative medicine cults for well over a decade and lost absolutely everything in the process. literally all their money and savings, our house, our health, you name it; these groups destroy lives, and if even just one person can use this info to keep themself safe then this long ass bitch of a post will have been worth it 💕
(also i wrote this on mobile cause im a masochist i guess, if there's any spelling/grammar/source errors let me know!)

I love you guys but I think a lot of you are the kind of people who are susceptible to falling in with a cult.
You’re right. We should all band together under a trustworthy and influential leader who can keep us safe from outside threats
Happy 24-6-01!

Already know I wanna send this to people on June 1

i might have already talked about this before but it’s actually crazy that jogging gets treated as a default ‘getting into shape for the first time’ exercise ESPECIALLY if someone’s goal involves weight loss. people who are more than ~200lbs often need special gear and running techniques to avoid shin splints etc *even if all that weight is solid muscle*, and the likelihood of injury only goes up as strength to weight ratio decreases. someone who’s both heavy AND untrained is just going to be miserable for however long it takes their bones and connective tissue to adapt to the sudden increase in demand. usually this takes months, but it can take even longer under adverse conditions like, say, suddenly eating way less than normal. and all this for an activity that literally isn’t even fun unless you are a specific type of insane. there are so many low impact and actually enjoyable forms of cardio why are we slapshotting biomechanically disadvantaged novices into the david goggins torment dimension
could. could you maybe. list some of those 'low impact and enjoyable forms of cardio'? this is not sarcasm, this is a genuine request, every form of exercise I have tried recently has put me in the torment dimension. thank you and I love you
yeah sure! there’s a lot of good suggestions in the notes, i’m probably missing a few
if you have access to a gym/appropriate facilities:
a LOT of people in the notes vouching for swimming, and it makes sense. not only is it basically zero impact on any of your joints, it engages just about every muscle in your body and it’s actually easier to stay afloat the higher your bodyfat%
stationary bike/elliptical: works for some better than others, but definitely far lower impact than running, usually has adjustable difficulty, and you can watch youtube videos or play games on your phone to pass the time
non stationary bike: the benefits of a stationary bike plus the ability to travel to a location
weight lifting: if you’re a total beginner to exercise this genuinely might be a better place to start than any designated ‘cardio’ activity, it Will get your heart rate up and build strength to do higher impact stuff with less risk, but designing a routine can feel overwhelming without help from a trainer/more experienced lifter
classes: yoga, pilates, dance, kickboxing, spin class, water aerobics, etc. as long as you can find one that accommodates your current fitness level and is a reasonably friendly environment
rowing: i actually know relatively little about rowing, but this has come up in the notes several times and people seem to like it. def seems like a good overall workout with little to no jarring impact
roller derby: definitely less of a Safe Beginner Activity and more ‘form of cardio you can do if you are on the fit side but still hate running’ but has come up in the notes multiple times specifically as a sport where a range of body types can do well
minimal equipment alternatives:
walking: if you have the resources to jog you have the resources to walk, and it really is a good form of exercise that also puts less strain on your joints
dance tutorials: seen a few people recommending these, there’s apparently a huge variety on youtube and you can take things at whatever pace works for you
yoga: also beginner friendly classes on youtube, good way to build up mobility and bodyweight strength
someone in the notes recommended hula hooping?? which actually sounds kind of genius especially if you don’t have a lot of gear or space. also iirc you can buy different weights of hula hoops for reasonably cheap so there’s a way to up the intensity over time
this seems like a decent resource at first glance and i think i saw more than one rec for them
one important thing to remember for anyone out there who’s significantly out of shape and feels overwhelmed is that when it comes to fitness you have one enormous advantage: it is currently EXTREMELY EASY for you to get exercise
do you 🫵 get winded walking up a flight of stairs? is curling a 5lb dumbbell 10 times difficult for you? can you barely do a single knee push-up? well i have great news: doing all of those things twice still probably takes less you less than 10 minutes. which means you can do a genuinely worthwhile daily workout in less than ten minutes. and it’ll probably get easy fast, and then you can find a heavier dumbbell
This is how some of yall will end up if you keep liking and reblogging my posts
