At the end of their arms, Nell doesn't have hands or paws or cloven hooves. They are "accursed hockey puck horse hooves." Nell can effortlessly hold and use things like any human with hands using a combination of cartoon logic and dark magic - unless it would be funny that she can’t.
It's unclear what is at the end of Nell's legs. She refuses to take off her shoes so there is no way to know for sure.
Nell is a distinct character from Ellie Spectacular. Obviously there is a lot of unabashed self-insert overlap but she is her own thing with her own traits and history.
