YEP. Even if a healthy person gets an infection, it could be the end for them!
Modern medicine and specialized medicine is so incredibly important!!! My mother was the first woman on her side of the family to make it to 50. Why? Because asthma medication was invented. Every other woman had died before 50 because of asthma. And, the asthma has still continued to pass on genetically, so my sister and I have it, both pretty severely. Some special herbs are not going to replace inhalant medication for asthma. We already know that doesnât work!
Never mind even more specialized medical fields, like endocrinology, for example! Even with what we have now we canât figure out why my entire adrenal system shut down, but weâve been able to treat it enough that Iâm alive. Iâd be so dead without specialized medicine and pharmaceuticals, dead a million times over.
And yeah, the âbut youâre dying now under this system!â isnât the rebuttal they think it is. Yeah, we are, but that doesnât mean I want to have my chances of death increased and be seen as a reasonable expense to get a new system! These people act like the only options are to not do anything at all about todayâs issue (which Iâve been accused of saying through this post, even though I never did), or anarchy and revolution. There are more than 2 options here! Social reform doesnât have to be a full, violent uprising where us disabled people are continued to be seen as worthless.
I am not an expendable sacrifice. No one else is either. Disabled people are people deserving of respect, and yet weâre always silenced and told to shut up about our issues. We canât even discuss our issues without people telling us to be quiet and that itâs not a big deal.
âOh, itâs okay because weâre helping you!â What? So do you have the mindset of âmercy killingâ? A lot of us are lost to mercy killing, and this idea of us being okay to kill and sacrifice seems to stem from the same ideology.
Youâre not helping people if youâre willing to commit genocide, and right now it doesnât matter that this probably wonât happen. What matters is that you have deep-rooted ideas of disabled people as expendable and worthless. Youâre still falling for the capitalistic rhetoric of disabled people being useless, and thus having no value. Changing how you think of disabled people and your behavior towards them is whatâs important here, but so many of you are so bloodthirsty you canât even see it, and so bulldoze over us seeking a future that probably wonât happen.
We want action towards social reform, not a lethal injection labeled as a favor. But apparently not wanting to die (horribly, I might add, because deaths from disease and med withdrawals are just suffering) is unreasonable and we should shut up and be grateful.
