Students at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School held a sit-in protest Monday.

The group’s action were in response to a racist video that was filmed three years ago. The video shows students of the Fieldston school chanting racist and homophobic slurs.

Those who took part in the protest say they want to shed light that their school hasn’t done enough to show that intolerance and racism of any kind will not be tolerated.

Students say they’re willing to block administrators from their offices to prompt a discussion about the issue.

Students from Horace Mann School in Riverdale also joined the protest.

“The reasons why we made the walk here because we want to show solidarity for the students at Fieldston,” one protester said. “It’s too late for this, we are getting tired of this. Going forward, we are reunited. We won’t tolerate this.”

They are pushing for bias training for faculty and parents, the hiring of more faculty of color and establishing a new system for reporting bias incidents.

A letter from the private school was sent out to parents regarding the sit-in.

At least one parent says he’s proud that students are standing up for what they believe in.

“I applaud them,” he said. “That is a true sign of bravery. At such a young age, taking a stance and standing up for yourself.”

So I have a friend that used to be in the tumblers troupe at the renfaire as a contortionist

We were chatting online and she told me to tell you all this story.

I love Kat dearly

she’s flat on her back in her apartment when she decides this

“I can’t roll my back forward to sit/stand up like normal.

But I can ARCH my back just fine.

I’m going to do that and get on my hands and feet in a stomach-in-the-air this-shit-belongs-in-a-horror-movie-type pose,

And amble on down to the 7-11”

“And get me that Burrito”

It is, 

for context, 

after midnight in July during a wildfire so it’s hot as satan’s own asshole and the moon is red and shit’s already generally cursed.

Imagineyou are some poor sap working nights at the world’s deadest 7-11, and you hear the door jangle but you don’t see anyone’s head over the counters.

Whatever.

Except you keep hearing noises like there’s someone in the next aisle over.

2. sounds EXACTLY like some kind of creepy child from a horror movie when doing so

She realizes the counter presents something of a challenge, and then demonstrates for me on her kitchen table at 4AM during a different july wildfire,

dude stares at her for like, five minutes and says.

“Register’s broke.”

“Oh No!” Says Kat. “Just Take ‘em.” “Really?  I can leave cash-you don’t have to give me change I don’t want you to get in trouble with your manager.” “…Nah.” “Oh!  OK!  Thank you!” “Yeah ok bye.”

Shortly after she arrived back at the apartment, she got a text on her phone from the campus security about  "A Suspicious Individual” at tle 7-11. 

It took her

- loki constantly ruining cute moments by complaining or changing the subject

- letting u braid his hair this one time when he was super tired and maybe a little tipsy

- and if anyone so much as glanced at the two of you with an ounce of amusement, he looked at them as if he was imagining 9378 ways to kill them

- him tagging along to a women’s march or some kind of feminist event and some old guy yells something abt him having been forced to attend by you

- and before u can jump in to tell the man that he’d come along very willingly, he just fucking shifts into his female form

- “does this work better for you?”

- often times u try to make him laugh he just smirks, sometimes you’ll get a grin

- but this one time u fucking stack it walking down a flight of stairs in heels and he loses it
