Despite making this post in August, this post spikes in brief periods throughout the year, depending on when folks like to start.

Reading all the cool costume projects people are working on

Bodily autonomy (like abortion, anti draft, etc) -> “The government shouldn’t be able to force anything on my body I don’t want.”

Anti surveillance -> “I don’t trust big government/big tech (big brother if you’re feeling frisky) with the ability to spy on me and my family.”

Immigration -> “Next to all of us immigrated at some point, I don’t see why the elites get to decide who’s allowed to be where. What’s to stop them coming for me?”

Climate Change -> “Big oil shouldn’t get to determine whether or not I get to go places. I don’t want to be dependent on some big business to survive.”

State Violence -> “I don’t want the goddamn secret police breathing down my neck! I trust my community a whole hell of a lot more to help me than I do the state!”

Alberta senator Kristopher Wells is putting on a different hat on Aug. 6, when he makes his personal collection of over 300 queer picture books available to the public for the first time. Wells is partnering with the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Canada to release the collection, and it is believed to be the largest collection of its kind in the world.  The collection includes books dating back nearly 50 years, which document LGBTQ2S+ life for young readers. IBBY Canada is the Canadian chapter of IBBY International, a non-profit organization that, since 1953, has worked to bring together children and books. Wells will participate in the opening ceremonies for IBBY’s 40th World Congress in Ottawa this week, the first held in Canada. The four-day conference will explore the theme “Listening to Each Other’s Voices,” and Wells’s collection fits in perfectly with this theme, which includes a focus on gender, sex and sexuality. 

Eridians are further behind than humans technologically right? They dont have computers, relativity, quantum mechanics, etc. In fact, Eridians probably dont even know about the Big Bang because their atmosphere would filter out most of the cosmic microwave background radiation we use to detect it. On a human timeline, theyre anywhere between like early-mid 20th century. Rocky's basically a cosmonaut.

So the human civilization is pretty advanced from Rocky's perspective. Rationally he understands this. On a conceptual level he knows this to be true.
