Wiebe is also shown to be a good husband and father, something Troy himself hadn't experienced.

For Wiebe value of the person doesn't equal to their use, unlike Troy's father. So for Troy it must be a big shock to still be treated well by his coach even when he was screwing up on the ice.

So I think Troy would start looking up to him and Wiebe would notice it and take him under his wing, giving him a healthy father relationship. Cue Troy being invited to family breakfasts and Wiebe trying to give him advice (with varying success).
