one of my kids broke his leg so his favorite recess activity now that kicking balls over the fence is off the table has been hangman, except we call it frankenstein because my teacher doesnt like calling it hangman, and its all good until he wants to take over and be the frankmaster, because a game of frankenstein (hangman) run by a kindergartner who cant spell and doesnt know all his letters is a crapshoot, except for the fact that every single time without fail his phrase is "dog eats," but he doesnt know how to spell "eats" so that part is different every time, but if he realizes youve caught on that the phrase is Dog Eats theres a 50% chance he will start improvising, and its in gods hands from there on out

i will say i do prefer frankenstein over hangman because i get to draw some goofy dead guy and instead of the consequence of failure being killing a guy, the consequence of building the entire frankenstein is that he Gets You. when the kid is the frankmaster he forgets to draw the frankenstein and when he remembers he starts scribbling all over the place and saying thats his aura

back in olden times theyd crank out a few good monster movies & then make 47 movies about the monsters sons & daughters & grocery trips etc and john carradine would be in them and then theyd arrange playdates for all the monsters to hang out and fight each other and then once they were done fighting each other theyd start sending them to chase comedians around

back in olden times if you were gonna make a scary movie it had to be about a frankenstein or a big ant or something, and then the 70s came and they started making scary movies about whatever the fuck, and if you wanted to return to the Monsters From Olden Times Hanging Out And Fighting shit in the 70s you could still get lon chaney jr for it but you had to make dracula look like frank zappa

For everyone who ‘used to love reading’ but now hasn’t finished a book in years, you CAN get it back. Genuinely start bringing a book (preferably short and either fiction or a non fiction topic you already really enjoy) everywhere you go and when you have 5-20 mins waiting for the bus or at the doctors office or mechanic or whatever, get out your book and read it! You don’t have to finish it quickly or even read it often but it is so good for your brain and fun to get into the habit of reading more (and replacing being on your phone for those moments).
