Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.
I mean this with all due respect:
You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.
Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.
Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.
If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.
You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.
Scheduling this for when weather starts warming up. Be careful swimming this summer
About ten years ago I watched a guy drown on a lake beside my worksite. I couldn't get to him in time and neither could the other people on the work crew. He had three life jackets sitting in the bottom of the aluminum boat he fell out of, and the boat was left spinning in circles near him with the motor going full blast.
Wear a life jacket.
Not to discredit or diminish anything above but the way to pass a skill check against a rip current is 'swim parallel to the shore until you're out of it' - more people should know this skill.

Together with its more famous sibling, which has since been inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, this alternate version of “Something Good” represents the first-known instance of Black intimacy ever captured on-screen.
