How long does it take you to start a new book after finishing one?

For me, it will either take a few minutes or the next day or two. Sometimes I still want to ride the high of the recently finished book.

a parent who i really liked named her son “jaycob” because she was worried people wouldn’t pronounce it correctly. when someone accidentally spelled it “jacob” she would loudly and obnoxiously ask “WHO’S JAH-KOBE?”

if you sent me a list of popular boy names, i could guarantee i’ve met every single one of them

if it can start with a “k” instead of a “c” i have met that child

i taught a swim class with three girls named “london” but only one of them was spelled “lundon” and i know my boss did that to me on purpose

a couple named all their kids after places in arizona: tatum, payson, and hayden

and speaking of hayden, i’ve seen: haydon, heighden, and heydon 

according to some white people, there are sixteen different ways to spell mckenzie

I had a Clark and Ophelia that were a bit unusual in the naming department.

“Damion with a Y” according to the parent. Daymion? Damyon? Nope. Damiony. The Y is silent, said parent

A girl named Free. Maybe not that bad on its own, but the girl’s last name was Love

Boys named Grayson. Son of an old gray man.

I know twins named brinlee and blakeleigh and that’s just not even fair

I know for a fact that I avoid disagreements and difficult conversations because it makes me super tense and i’m constantly trying to anticipate the person’s reaction/what they would like to hear to keep myself safe.

It’s like pulling teeth for my husband to get me to properly and adequately express my feelings/displeasure because I never want to piss anyone off and because I’ve held it inside for so long and grown so angry, I cry out of sheer frustration which only makes me more mad because I don’t want to cry. 

Things just keep getting stupider.

The entire lot of them listen to Fox News way too much, but they're at least being sensible about this whole thing and trying to be very careful. Masks, distancing, vaccines, the works. It might not matter, though, because many of them are immune compromised or sick with other diseases that COVID could make worse.

And as much as they frustrate me sometimes, it really sucks seeing them do everything right and still worry about dying. And then coming on Tumblr and seeing someone make light of any effort to keep that from happening.

So this governor, who probably has a financial incentive to push Regeneron, is wasting resources creating these pop up monoclonal antibody sites when he should be encouraging these folks to get vaccinated with every fiber of his being.

This is not an effort to keep anyone from dying. If anything, this is going to cause more death. We need all these people to get vaccinated. They are not doing things right. They are not sensible.

So no, they’re not doing everything right. They’re listening to the rhetoric from Fox News and running with it thinking they’ll be okay when they will not be okay. Florida is a cesspool of anti-vaxxer COVID deniers and Gov. DeSantis is only making it worse by just letting everyone run all willy nilly.

My local hospitals are overrun to the point that local nursing homes can’t send coding patients out to them. CODING PATIENTS WHO NEED LIFE SAVING MEASURES ARE BEING DENIED FROM THE HOSPITAL! Why? Because we’re overrun with COVID, short staffed, and fucking exhausted. And most of the people admitted are unvaxxed people with COVID.
