Harrowhark Nonagesimus and Gideon Nav, age three.
It's actually super unethical to keep a peeve as a pet
They need to roam the vast savannas of spite and sorrow!
keeping them in an apartment - or even a house with a fenced yard - is just cruel!
I can't believe we live in a world where there's an AI company unironically called "Palantir," and it isn't a parody. It's a real thing. I remember seeing a picture of an advertisement on here and thinking, "This HAS to be a joke. This is too on-the-nose to be real. They wouldn't honestly name an AI company Palantir, after the Seeing Stones from Lord of the Rings that are supposed to offer knowledge, but famously also might be feeding you misinformation from evil sources because 'we do not know who else may be watching.'" But then here I am listening to the BBC News discussing why the CEO of Palantir just published a Manifesto that sounds like it was written by a supervillain.

I hate internet research these days. All I'll have is a very simple question that should have a simple answer. Like "can I use tool/method X to achieve goal Y?" that should have a simple yes or no answer.
And no matter how I word it, all the answers are either "how to use tool/method X for its intended purpose :)" or "how to use the standard method to achieve goal Y :)"
Like for fuck's sake be useful. If I ever needed an extremely confident but dubiously reliable answer to a completely different question than what I fucking asked, I'd still be talking to my mom.

This may be the worst use of LLMs anyone has attempted, ever. Up there with recognizing mushrooms.
A story in three parts
Too good et cetera et cetera

However much train nerdery you think is in this book, you are wrong. I think this thing would be a hundred pages shorter if you removed even half of the technical jargon. 😂
But the book is based on a train line my family has been taking for decades, and written by a conductor we’ve all met, so my whole family has been reading it. Overall it’s not too bad. A compelling concept that’s right up my alley for sure (a passenger train gets stuck in the Moffat Tunnel in Colorado during a massive eruption of Yellowstone, forcing them to work together to survive the journey out of the dead zone), but the writing is a little…rough. Lots of head-hopping, some author intrusion, a lack of stakes or danger where there should have been plenty.
Still, I did finish it in two days. It was readable, and like I said, a fun concept overall.
for this situation, what you want is Gary Koshkarov’s famous catnip gambit.
