it’s kinda wild to me how many people with otherwise pretty progressive and scientifically-informed dog opinions are still deep into the raw food superiority thing. but in that weird, condescending, dancing-around-it way where they’re like “hey… it’s okay if you can’t feed raw 🧡 it can be expensive and these are hard times 🧡 fed is best 🧡🧡” and the “fed is best” in question is a high quality, balanced kibble

#idk #i think there’s a lot of nuance to nutrition #especially in a man-made species #where the answer to ‘well what would they eat naturally?’ is ‘they wouldn’t exist naturally’#imo a balanced diet is best and there are many ways to give your dog a balanced diet #one is not more correct than another because it looks more like the food we are used to #and the food we would expect to see an animal eating in the wild

is there such a thing as like. an at-home service dog? or maybe that would just be a task-trained pet?? asking for a friend

#the friend is me #i think i could benefit?#my symptoms have been worse lately #the ones i’m most worried about are dissociation and skin-picking #both of which could be interrupted by a dog #and i mean. those happen wherever i go #but a full-fledged public access service dog would be a contamination and other paranoias trigger 😅#so this could only be an at-home thing #is this me asking the internet permission to train a dog in my own house? is that what i’m doing rn?#euh #life is weird i feel weird somebody pls yap at me

i think i’m freaking out about NextDog rn because i realized that Pallando is either approaching or already is 5 years old, which is the same age Maya was when she died. he’s healthy as a horse, don’t get me wrong, but the fear of ever being dogless again is a strong one

#i need to get a second dog in his lifetime #i did not think i was going to survive Maya’s death #doglessness is not an option for me #and i imagine it would be kinder on him to introduce a new dog/puppy while he’s still an energetic middle aged fellow yanno?#so the Thoughts have consumed me #euh
