when ronan is showing the group his dream magic for the first time and adam doesn’t believe him yet so ronan calls him doubting thomas, the apostle who refused to believe that jesus had been resurrected

currently thinking about how the devil that ronan witnesses influences both his faith and his secretiveness and how the devil and the “hell-tinged” camaro are both a burnt orange color and when ronan dreams the camaro’s keys (the dreaming being the secret, of course) they’re described as (forbidden) metallic fruit and how another of ronan’s secrets is enmeshed in shame and temptation he won’t let himself acknowledge and how he is filled with wanting yet unable to articulate his wants and how kavinsky teaches him to dream (the camaro, by which he is tempted) and has known one of ronan’s secrets all along and especially how the camaro ronan dreams is engineless, the very quality that made adam doubt the dreamt plane and how finally once ronan’s second secret is known to both himself and adam (a two-headed realization; both adam and eve eat from the tree of knowledge) ronan eschews his self-hatred and adam witnesses the manifestation of the two-headed night horror which is not a machine but a living being that thumps and ticks not like an engine but like a heart. just thinking about ronan and the devil and temptation and secrets and belief and knowledge.

just realized they cut Ronan paying Adam’s rent from The Dream Thieves graphic novel & now I actually am mad

i like the trc graphic novels on paper so much (former fan artist, a chance to revisit the stories from a new perspective) BUT i just never end up loving them. they always lose the details i love (and i think the structure doesn’t support stief’s balance between dialogue/internal monologue, etc)

like okay i know it’s not the end of the world or anything but in the book when adam says no. i’ll pick another card and therefore changes the entire ending of the story two books later, that’s chilling. or adam’s dazed side-of-the-highway stroll. where he has to finally admit he needs help via magical intervention and it’s humiliating but heartful. and i think big genre moments like this get lost in the illustrations

i’m literally so disgustingly in love. my boyfriend cooked me dinner and it was delicious and then he made me breakfast the next morning. he said he loves me. he thinks i’m beautiful. he met all my friends here. they love him. he’s figuring out how to go to school in the fall. this is the first night we’re gonna be apart in like. 9 days maybe 10

one of the most important moments in music herstory is when gangsta boo joined three 6 mafia she wanted to sound as scary as possible. bc u know they were inventing horrorcore. so she bought a book abt the occult or something and then her mom found it and made her burn it. i miss her
