when england lose, women bruise
Seen in downtown Toronto as well
US based DV Advocate reporting live from my day off.
Predictable increase times, an incomplete list:
Holidays - not just the major ones either. Memorial day, labor day, and the 4th of July are all days with celebrations that center primarily around drinking. Juneteenth makes racists mad, so they pick fights with whoever is closest (their partner).
Sporting events - from the national to the babby's first concussion league. Weird increase in calls? Check the local child league game schedules.
Bad weather - I'm talking really bad weather. Wind storm knocks out power? Call increase. Thunderstorm floods half the town? Call increase. Blizzard piles snow too high to get out of the house? Call increase.
First freeze of the season - a lot of homeless couples are extremely dysfunctional and abusive, and the freeze is usually the tipping point.
Election season - see also: town council meetings about big topics.
The first couple of really warm weeks in summer - these calls are nearly always based around arguments that start out being about swimwear.
Police academy graduation season - [stares directly into the camera]
Ofc this is based entirely on my experience at work, idk if this holds true across the nation/world, etc etc
