"on god's green earth" is way too fun to say even when you don't believe in god and know most of it is blue, actually

Just off the top of your head, don't need to try and look it up to check out anything:
Can you name a web search engine that you used before Google?
Yes
No
Don't know/just want to see the results
The book I'm reading suggests that Google became so market dominant that most people couldn't name a search engine that came before it, so I'm curious.
HotBot.
Askjeeves
I primarily used AltaVista and Yahoo before my 10th grade English teacher told me about Google in 2000. I have such a vivid memory of being like, "oh shit this IS a great tool..." which is hilarious to recall 26 years later.
Altavista was the big one.
I also used Search Directories (which are different) like Yahoo! too.
Okay but who remembers AskJeeves!?
yahoo, ask jeeves, and dogpile all come to mind
Is your first name canon in asoiaf
Yes
No
Sort of (spelled differently, etc.)
Here’s the character list on the wiki for reference
I honestly think Gen-Z and younger simply does not understand how recent widespread smartphone adoption is.
I am not that old, and I didn't have a smartphone until probably late high school. For most of my life, many if not most people were not walking around with a magic internet machine in their pocket that they pulled out and used constantly for everything.
reblog if you remember having to ration your text messages and accidentally opening the internet on your phone was the end of the world
How old were you when you got your first smartphone?

People on Tumblr love sharing information about themselves no matter how asinine it is. And I'm the same way. Everybody tell me what the last thing you drank was.
This tickled me!

have you seen jimothy of Seattle, the raccoon with a short body? is he okay or is he too silly for a long lifespan?
Hopefully this video clears some stuff up about Jimothy! (There are captions for anyone who needs them)
I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.
Tell me how your parents met in the tags.
filtering down ao3 results from 14000 to 6 based on a single tag is foul. im sorry none of you are as enlightened as me ig.
normal one. next question.

I am so proud of this photo.
Macro photography is still a skill I’m learning. Shooting through acrylic jewel case habitats is tricky. Doing it when the environment inside is purposefully humid and muddy is an exercise in frustration.
This little crab’s exhibit was all three.
So please, show this little guy the love they deserve, because this photo is an accomplishment.
Sam teasing episode 7
SAM: It's really crazy. It's really wild.
AUTUMN: I can't wait to watch it cause I've got to say six really broke me. It really broke me down. So, I'm ready to see it.
SAM: I mean, I think seven is like... I can't tell you. I can't speak.
AUTUMN: Don't! I don't want any spoilers, but do you have any words of warning?
SAM: I'd say it is a combination of the most horror we've ever done and the most... otherworldly. Yeah, I mean I think it would kind of hopefully give context to why the season is the way it is. Um and it will give some sort of structure into why– It gives some kind of– The season has always been building to this one specific episode. This was Rolin's initial idea of how to convey this impossible-to-adapt book and the core theme that he wanted to pull out of it and how he wanted to convey it... at least in terms with Lestat. And then– and outside of that, it's just pure horror. And I'd say, yeah, Assad is doing like some of the best work I've ever seen. He's just amazing. He's incredible in that episode. He's absolutely incredible.
AUTUMN: I can't wait.
SAM: That's all I can say.
AUTUMN: Okay, that's all that we can say.
