A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Letâs fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.

the best part of the princess bride is how it says that love is the number one motivation in life but! a close number two is spite.

One that usually bugs me is when a book has characters list their favourite movies or tv shows not just in a character watched this show world building kind of way but when itâs done as a way of give a character personality
I think thereâs a difference between saying a character enjoys music or a character loves this specific band or watches this popular show
I get that itâs trying to make the character relatable to the reader but I instantly think either âthis dates this story instantlyâ or I think no depth because a list of pop culture references doesnât make a personality

Rewatching OUAT and I think they shouldâve utilized the younger actresses for Regina and Emma a lot more than they did. Especially during Reginaâs engagement/relationship to the King and the beginning of Emmaâs relationship with Neal.
I understand using Lana and Jen (and itâs a âfamilyâ show so they probably didnât want to dig too deep into it) and they did great but Regina was 17/18 when she got married to a man 3x her age and Emma was still 17 when she got pregnant with Henry. I think visually seeing teenage girls, children actually, in those scenarios wouldâve brought more of a shock.
EDIT cause I still want to rant about it:
The reason for this post is because I had decided to actually sit down and watch the seasons all the way through instead of hopping around to my fav episodes so I hadnât actually rewatched some the the storylines/visual choices since I myself was a teenager.
I donât even think I clocked the implications of a child (honestly even if she was 18 Iâm calling her a child despite the âlegalâ label because sheâs still much too young) marrying a much older royal man because when I was 14/15 all I saw was Lanaâs face. And because of the showâs âfamilyâ premise they would never have been able to go into detail regarding how she actually wouldâve been treated in that marriage (child bride, âhe has no âmale heirâ, âconsentâ logistics, sheâs stuck in that marriage for years completely isolated, etc).
Similar thing with Emmaâs relationship/pregnancy storyline with Neal. Now Iâm a bit fuzzy on his age timeline but I do know heâs quite a few years older than her and sheâs 17 when she gets pregnant with Henry. Sheâs a literal child when they meet with no stability. But 14/15 year old me just saw Jen with glasses and a ponytail. If I had saw her child actress that was used in season 4, I mightâve clocked how young she really was because even though I was told how young she was, I didnât fully grasp it.
Watching this show now through an adult perspective is bizarre and I mourn what this show couldâve pulled off if it wasnât restricted for âfamilyâ copyright. Still entertaining though.
like to charge, reblog to cast.
Yes please these last new months have been the total worst!
