Bandaging themselves, hisses of pain as they treat their wounds and hide evidence of their injury

Sneaking away from the crowd, looking pale and unwell

Sitting down when the rest of the team isn't looking

Struggling to catch their breath

Needing to slow down or stop "for just a moment"

Taking an uncharacteristic nap (either completely exhausted or something is Very Wrong)

"I'll catch up with you guys in a sec!"

Staring at an item that has significant (or traumatic) meaning to them

When they can't hold back their tears any longer

"Sorry- I didn't know you were there..."

"Get out!"

Looking lost

Gazing at their old scars and faded bruises

Taking medication for a problem the other character never knew they had

Showing a symptom they denied having

In much more pain than they originally let on

When they're having an off day and a small thing causes them to lash out/break down/panic

"(Please) Don't tell anyone about this."

Sleeping later than usual

Still awake (or not sleeping at all)

Grimaces and pain noises when they think no one can hear or see them, trying to get into a more comfortable position

When they're finally left alone and all the energy they put into acting normal/well vanishes

With that distant look in their eyes

"You're hurt." "Just a scratch."

"Don't worry about it." "I'm worried about you."

"I don't want to get you sick." "I don't mind."

"Will talking about it help?" "There's not much to say."

"Sit up."

"Is that blood?"

"I'm really dizzy." "Sit down!"

"It's all going to be okay." "It doesn't feel like it."

"Come here. I'll hold you."

"Just take a breath."

"What can I do to help you feel better?"

"Tell me what happened."

"I told you to be careful!"

-Peeking through the door after hearing the whimpers of whumpee having a nightmare

-Caretakers having to wake whumpee up at night to check their vitals/temperature/bandages

-A guard checking to see if their prisoner is still where they should be

-A warm smile as caretaker sees whumpee sleep well for the first time in so long

Until finally they return to the group and say, wearily, “I…don’t feel well.” Most of the group is like, “Yeah, we know” in a casual, lightly teasing way.

bonus points if they're an absolutely horrible liar lmao

WHEN OTHERS ARE INJURED OR ILL SO WHUMPEE TAKES CARE OF THEM ALL, VERY WELL KNOWING THEY'RE INJURED/ILL THEMSELF, BECAUSE THEY THINK THE OTHERS ARE MORE IMPORTANT AND THEIR SUFFERING DOESN'T MATTER MY BELOVED

whumpee who has never passed out before, so they don't recognize the signs and keep staggering around thinking the black vision and ringing ears will pass until they faint

whumpee blaming standing up too fast for their fainting spell when really they're bleeding internally and don't know it until they throw up blood

i posted earlier about whumpee who catches themself on the desk of their boss while being scolded but HEAR ME OUT, whumpee who is being awarded or praised for their bravery and/or performance in front of the team, only to miss all of the praise because they're too busy focusing on steadying themelf and not throwing up before they collapse

whumpee who is leading the crew and is the only one who knows where they're going staggering forward, then to the side, then to the other side. team is like where the hell are we going until whumpee collapses and they realize they're feeling so dizzy they don't even know which way is up

whumpee lying down and thinking that's going to save them from fainting, but the dizziness persists until they lose consciousness in caretaker's arms or lap

(In no particular order)

Whumpee collapsing in front of Caretaker(s) (ah the classics)

Whumpee hissing/wincing/crying out/etc. when someone or something bumps against their injury

Bloodstain(s) soaking through clothing

Caretaker(s) finding evidence that Whumpee's been injured (the scene where the injury occurred, video recording, bloody clothing, etc.)

Whumper who witnessed/caused the injury 'mentioning' it in front of Caretaker(s)

Whumpee's shirt/etc. accidentally riding up and revealing bandages/blood/bruises/etc. (Alt: the injury-concealing clothing being torn off/etc.)

Whumpee moving in a way that aggravates their injury and being unable to hide their reaction

Whumpee just plain 'fessing up to it

Whumpee claiming "it's not that bad" and it can wait, only for Caretaker to find that yes it is that bad when they finally check it

Caretaker walking in on Whumpee taking care of the injury themselves

ok as much as i love a good faint im also a huge sucker for when a character collapses but is still conscious, maybe just dizzy or weak

stumbling or tripping on something and falling to their knees, too weak to stand up again

weak from fever or low blood sugar and failing to get out of a chair, lying on their back or side while the dizziness subsides (i actually had a fic planned for this at one point)

slumping into a chair because they cant stand anymore

reaching out to a table or wall for support and sliding to the floor (!!!)

sitting on the floor already but they slump to the side out of exhaustion

that thing where they throw their arm across their eyes out of exhaustion or dizziness (honestly one of my favorites)

character who hasn't lost enough blood to lose consciousness, maybe not even enough for it to be really dangerous, but they overwork themselves and they're suddenly hit by a dizzy spell and wind up on the ground waiting for their vision to come back
