The casual racism against Roma I see from progressive liberal white Europeans genuinely shocks me. How do you manage to squeeze in anti-Roma racism into a conversation about American HoAs? Huh? Like it's just so ingrained they literally don't even notice it and carry on like it's nothing. And if you say something about it, they act like racism against Roma doesn't count as racism and that you're the weird one.
Iām a dog groomer and the number of our regulars named G- well, you know what - is not so worrying as the fact that Iāve had to explain to every single colleague over the last few years why I feel uncomfortable writing that word on the whiteboard for the dayās schedule and I just get weird looks.
But then, my own cousin let his (American) wife name their two kids with the names of various Native American nations because āshe has some native blood in her somewhereā.
