Hey kids, I joined the FFXIV RP community recently and so far the majority of what I’ve seen has been drama. OH BOY. Here are some free tips from someone who has been around the roleplay community for a long ass time! Don’t do these things.   Big Dick Move #1: Sharing Screenshots of a Private Conversation  I’m not talking about random tells with strangers. I’m talking about conversations with friends. Yeah, people do this. What the fuck, right? Don’t share screenshots of a private conversation with anyone. You’re having that conversation with the expectation of privacy. If you think you’re saying something to someone in confidence and they share it with all their friends, it leaves you feeling violated. You can no longer trust the person doing that and if you had a friendship, the trust holding it together has probably been destroyed.    Especially if you are or ever were friends, don’t spread it around. There’s no faster way to fall out with someone. 

Big Dick Move #2: Ghosting  If you cannot resolve a problem by talking it through, it is okay to say, “I can’t be in this situation, so I’m going to leave it.” It is also okay to say, “I need to leave this situation for a while and calm down.” OR EVEN SAY, “I’m going through a rough time and I need to be alone.” Heck, you can also say, “You’re a dick and can fuck off.”  Blacklist/block and do what you have to do but for fuck’s sake don’t ghost people. Do you have any idea how terrible it is to just wake up one day and find someone is just GONE or ignoring you? You go through all sorts of mental hurdles trying to figure out what you did wrong when most of the time it has nothing to do with you. Leaving without a word or leaving and expecting other people to clean up the mess you left behind is an absolute garbage move. You’re a shitty human being. Yeah, you are. Don’t do this.  Big Dick Move #3: Callout Posts   Just… don’t… Literally, just don’t. You’re only going to post your side of the story so it’s just going to be a giant vent post that makes you look stupid and gives the other person stress and unnecessary drama to deal with.  Are they violating a minor? Then damn son, call them out!! Fuck them!  Are they hurting your feelings? BOO FUCKING HOO. If you can’t resolve it between the two of you, you should block and move on. Do not make a callout post because you fell out. Boo hoo, your heart was crushed. Are you going to make a callout post over every friend you’ve lost over the years, every SO you’ve broken up with? No. You learn from what happened, you heal, you move on. It’s called life, it sucks, we heal from it, we get stronger. We don’t make internet callout posts to make ourselves feel better.  You need advice on a situation or you want to inform someone that they’re talking shit about someone and you want evidence/screenshots. WHY DON’T YOU TRY THESE THINGS INSTEAD OF BEING A BIG DICK: 

You need advice on a situation or you want to inform someone that they’re talking shit about someone and you want evidence/screenshots.

If for Advice:

Ask your friends without saying who it is or giving screenshots. If you feel like you cannot resolve a situation by talking to the other party in person, and you fail to get good advice, it is then okay to say: This situation is bad for me, so let’s just part ways. 

You can then

use the magical feature known as blocking to block them out of your life.

You aren’t going to be friends with everyone, and you don’t have to TRY and fix every relationship. It’s okay to not be friends. 

If for Evidence:

AGAIN, did they do something illegal? Did they do something morally wrong? If yes, go for it. If no? If they hurt your feelings? Get over it. Move on.

Block them. RIS: But COZY THEY’RE TALKING SHIT ABOUT MY OTHER FRIEND?

Plus your acceptors, for me at least, have been consistently slow and I had one person who was listed as online take four hours. 

I tried near the end of last year, for our own festival (I believe, I can’t remember which) and we struggled so much because there was only a handful of people interested in helping. Along with that those handing over dragons completely ignored the spreedsheet and sent dragons to whoever the wrong way or were completely ignoring the offline/online.

And people who found out after the festival push’ struggles said “I’ll help next time!” never came around. It’s not fun to push really, there’s little payout unless your willing to be someone who donates all their time to the push, the personal gains are minimal, there isn’t that much communication and the smaller organizations in the flight that have connection to dom (loaning, lair space, donations) is also a mess. You’ll get 20 pings at once when all this dom stuff is about to go down but then between the months of no dom battles we’ll get maybe one ping about something- usually a different kind of push we had no idea was coming until 4 days before the next week rollover.

Our current flight dom organizers are trying their best but were left without preparation. Those who left didn’t teach, they just passed the torch and said “good luck, don’t burn yourself”

Kyra is an artist, but they can’t make everything and lead an entire team unless they have like 0 irl responsibility

In the process of doing some designs I ended up with a BUNCH of repeating tile patterns. These are going to, eventually, be put on lanyards and zipper pouches to sell, but in the meantime you can find all of them available on literally anything you could want on my Redbubble!
