Is that a couple thing ? To sit on a throne made of the enemies you defeated ?
favorite language learning resources
duolingo- a lot of language learners have issues with it but itâs good to get a base on the language and theyâre always adding new languages!
memrise- good for vocabulary and memorizing, they have a wide list of languages
babbel- really effective if you want to learn how to communicate with people or get around, costs money for the full version but they have sales all the time
hellotalk- language exchange app, iâve had really good experiences with this app, the only downside is that you have to pay to select more than one language you want to learn
tandem- similar to hellotalk, i like it slightly less but it allows you to choose as many languages as you want!
forvo- you can listen to native speakers pronounce things! itâs amazing!
ipachart- interactive chart with the international phonetic alphabet
wordreference- online dictionary for french, spanish, german, italian, portuguese, dutch, swedish, russian, polish, romanian, czech, greek, turkish, chinese, japanese, korean, and arabic
bab.la- another online dictionary with 24 languages
linguee- really great for learning phrases and seeing words in context
omniglot- encyclopedia of writing systems and languages, really great for learning new writing systems & also basic phrases! also has links to other resources!
the great language game- game for testing listening comprehension to several dozen languages!
ba ba dum- fun vocabulary game
easy languages- youtube channel featuring native speakers speaking a variety of languages but mostly spanish, french, and german
wikitongues- youtube channel attempting to document every language in the world
languagepod101- offers podcasts and youtube videos in a wide variety of languages
verbix- verb conjugating website with a wide variety of languages
quizlet- flashcard website thatâs great for compiling vocab lists
lingq- iâve only used it a little but it seems helpful especially for beginners!
tunein- allows you to listen to radio in a variety of languages
wikipedia- they have thousands to millions of articles in various languages so itâs a great place to test your reading skills, and in addition you can read articles about the language youâre learning and get a grasp on the languageâs structure and sound system
lyricstraining- allows you to learn languages using song lyrics, really helpful for comprehension
lang-8- you can post things and have native speakers correct them, and correct things from other people!
feel free to add!

Sometimes I wonder why non English speakers are like this
because itâs a funny harmless joke at the expense of the worldâs current lingua franca, whose native speakers often make fun of the âweirdâ accents and pronounciation of people who very likely speak at least one more language then they do.

For the Bees Masterpost
Hey yâall! As I am sure most of you have heard, we seem to be witnessing an alarming decline in our little buzzing friends. As of right now, seven species of bees in other countries have been added to the Endangered Species List. However, the bumblebees were officially announced as being Endangered around two weeks ago. This, my dear friends, is especially scary because these little fuzzy friends are very close to home.Â
Leading causes to the destruction of bees is the use of pesticides on crops, bee-feeding parasites, and a global decline in wildflowers. Meaning: bees LOVE wildflowers.
If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, mankind would have no more than four years to live.Â
So what can we do to help our pollinating pals?Â
Enter here this masterpost!
-Set up a bee bath! This little trick can literally just be a bird bath with sugar water instead of normal water and stones! (Do not forget the stones, as the bees rest on them when drinking to prevent drowning) Honey bees can travel very far just to find nectar and water. They usually go as far as a radius of 4 miles covering 32,166 archers around their hives, but some bees have been known to go as far as 17 miles or even 30 to find what their hive needs. At 30 miles the honey bees will start to lose more âweightâ. (-8.6 pounds of honey) Sugar water will help keep these bees healthy and happy! PSA: if you see a rather slow moving bee, give the little one some sugar water and theyâll perk right up!
-Build a bee hotel! The truth is, many species of bees are solitary - they do not live in hives but instead construct their own nest. This is because in these certain species every female is fertile and this would not make for comfortable communal living in a hive.Â
-IF you get stung - Bee stings are acidic on the pH scale. If you add baking soda to them, it neutralizes the sting! #SCIENCE
-Flowers that our bumblebabies fancy: Thyme, lilac, snapdragons, goldenrod, wildflowers, sweet william, English lavender, bergamot, lilac, sage, ivy cilantro, burage, fennel, hollyhock, crocus, buttercup, snowdrop, geranium, aster, calendula, sweet asylum, poppy, zinnia, sunflower, heliotrope. Okay, bumblebees LOVE goldenrod. When goldenrod goes into full bloom, the pollination from the flowers ACTUALLY contains chemicals that make the bees drunk off their little bee butts. Itâs amazing.
-Fruit trees are great too!Â
I could go on and on about the bees, but this post is already a lot longer than I originally attended.Â
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me at any time! Iâm a licensed beekeeper and I love my bees very much. We need the bees, guys. If they go, theyâre taking us down with them.Â
Educate yourselves, educate your friends and family.Â
Have an absolute wonderful day!Â
for all of you guys getting anxious about the environment and pollution
yâall deserve to hear the good news too, and yes i fact checked these.
7 miles of habitat for bees will be planted in london
the biggest coal plant in north america has been converted to solar panels
roads in edinburgh will close once a month to help pollution
maine has banned styrofoam
new york city and los angeles have both made âgreen new dealsâ
The london marathon replaced 200,000 single use water bottles with seaweed water pods
the bees in notre dame survived the fire, and the roof could possibly built in a more eco-friendly way.
the population of flightless kakapos (a cool bird) is rising
the carbon emissions in the uk are the lowest theyâve been since 1998
Another large bee habitat (.5 mil acres) has been created
there is a robot that delivers young coral to help repopulate the great barrier reef
portugal plans to stop using plastic on fruit, vegetables, and bread by 2020
106 new species of bees have been discovered in australia since 2010
a group of Sikhs plan to plant 1,000,000 trees as a gift to the earth
disney has made a mickey-shaped solar farm
Morgan freeman turned a 124 acre ranch in mississippi to a bee habitat
China plans on making a âforest cityâ to help clean up their air
An increasing amount of countries and states are beginning to ban single use plastics.
A couple replanted a whole forest in brazil (2.7 mil trees) in 20 years, and the animals have come back to live there
The hole in the ozone layer is repairing itself more each year
China plans on spending 360 billion dollars to improve renewable energy and has scrapped plans for coal powered plants that were going to be built.
A national park has been built in the amazon (3.3 mil acres in peru) to preserve the rainforest
Ireland and the uk have declared a climate emergency
The guy who played aquaman (jason momoa) has spent 31,000 dollars to help clean up plastic
South korea is now recycling 95% of food waste
There is a cleanup campaign being planned for mt. everest
Puerto rico wants to use all renewable energy by 2050 and is setting official goals for that
Some schools have special water bottle fill-up stations that encourage you to use refill and reuse plastic bottles rather than throwing them out after one use, these are becoming more common.
9 endangered species are thought to make a comeback this year
20 countries in africa are planning to make a âgreen wallâ of trees and plants that will span the width of africa to stop desertification
recently, a lot of volunteers and organizations are planting a ton of trees.
Awareness about the environment and climate change is growing super fast right now among people and countries, which will only help us
Most pollution is caused by like 100 companies, but a few of those (like pepsi) are trying to cut down on that.
if this stuff keeps happening things will get even better, and the only thing stopping us really are those big companies who donât want to pay the money to switch to more eco-friendly energy sources. i know the media tends to cause fear and stress about this stuff for a lot of people, but there really is hope.
easy things we can do:Â
RecycleÂ
Plant gardens in your yard for bees if you can
Participate in community volunteer things that plant trees and gardens
Theres this search engine called ecosia that plants a tree for every 45 searches you make, it has almost 2 mil users.Â
Pick up trash if you see it when youâre at the beach or in nature
If you have a fair amount of money, consider donating some to trustworthy environmental organizations
Start using a reusable water bottle (like those ones at target) rather than relying on single use plastic ones.
Cut the plastic rings on plastic milk bottles. You know, the little spiky plastic ring near the cap. Birds get those things stuck around their neck and die, so cut them so that they canât get stuck on a neck.
If you can afford it, get some of those reusable grocery bags and sue those. most grocery stores have them, and it saves a lot of waste.

So I found this cool website for learning ancient languages
go wild
holy fuck
I just did a quick perusal of the Coptic resources on this site, and it has all the resources Iâve personally found worthwhile and then some. These are resources that took me months, if not years, to discover and compile. I am thoroughly impressed. The other languages featured on the site are:
Akkadian
Arabic
Aramaic
Church Slavonic
Egyptian (hieroglyphics and Demotic)
Elamite
Ethiopic (Geâez)
Etruscan
Gaulish
Georgian
Gothic
Greek
Hebrew
Hittite
Latin
Mayan (various related languages/dialects)
Old Chinese
Old English
Old French
Old Frisian
Old High German
Old Irish
Old Norse
Old Persian
Old Turkic
Sanskrit
Sumerian
Syriac
Ugaritic
For the love of all the gods, if you ever wanted to learn any of these languages, use this site.
Likely helpful for various recon-oriented polytheists.
@surullinensaukko !
Things I like to have when coming up with a plot.
Characters facing the thing they feared the most
Vulnerable characters losing their abillity to express emotions after a tramautic event (most of the time betrayal)
Characters questioning their old motives and the actions they took in the past based of these motives
Character changing their values after learning more information
Giving a side character more of an arc as the main character get to know them more
The POV character having an impression or characterization to a certain character that get FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN when they get closer to the character (bc thatâs what happens all the time irl)
The comic relief character turning out to be the most hurting character of all
Great friends/Lovers/siblings/Parents-children arguing A LOT bc people who truely love each other do that alot, nobody gets along all the time
Fake nice characters.
Heros and their previous Villains teaming up for a cause against a bigger Villain (though not fully trusting each other) iâll write a whole seperate post on that
The âHeroâ character gets tired of heroing after all
Good characters doing incridibly unlikeable thing cuz weâre humans and we do that.
Characters that get on the mcâs nerves and who are NOT the villian and are still good people in the end.
Characters who get betrayed by People who have been loyal to them for years and struggling to trust after it.
A POC mc in a book NOT about their raceâs rights (POC characters should not be limited to just that)
Just character, character, character, CHARACTER

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what it looks like for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So accurate !!!!!!
This! It can be so hard for people to get it. Iâve been told âyou canât have a disabilityâ because I did well in school or because I have a law degree, because I scored high on the LSAT (which was despite not being able to finish it). Learning disabilities donât = stupid, itâs just slower and more difficult to read/spell.

putting pronouns in bios
boys wearing dresses/skirts
girls masturbating
boys being feminine in general
not assuming everyone is cishet
same-sex parents

women who donât want kids
apologizing to childrenÂ
mental illnesses as a legitimate excuse

I want a story about a king whose son is prophesied to kill him so the king is like âwhatever what am I supposed to do, kill my own kid wtf is wrong with youâ so he just raises him as normal, doesnât even tell him about the prophecy, and instead of some convoluted twist of events that leads to the kingâs murder the son grows up and when the king is very old and dying and in excruciating pain the kid is just like alright I'mma put him out of his misery.
The kingâs son becomes the new king, and is prophesied to defeat evil and bring an age of prosperity. His generals and knights all crack their knuckles but he pretty much ignores them and focuses on strengthening the infrastructure of his kingdom. Forty years later he is old and sick but still hearing his subjectsâ grievances, and a generalâs like âhow will you defeat the prophesied evil now? Youâre old and weak.â Another visitor, a teenager fresh out of the kingdomâs public education system, looks at the general like he is an ignoramus. The king eradicated poverty, housed the homeless, taught the ignorant, ended class exploitation by abolishing the nobility and imprisoning the corrupt, and established a highly respected guild of doctors that recently figured out how to cure the plague. There are no brigands because there is enough wealth for everyone to live comfortably; hiding in the woods and taking trinkets from people simply doesnât make any sense for anyone but the desperate, and the people are not desperate. Evil is a weed, explains the teenager. It grows in cracked roads and crumbling houses and forgotten corners, rooted in indifference and watered by suffering. But the king demands that broken things be mended and suffering people be made well.
No evil lives in this kingdom, says the teenager. It starved to death before I was born.
Every once in a while, when Iâm feeling down, I go and look at the notes on this post and they make me feel a lot better. This is the energy I want to carry into 2018.
For those who need to carry it into 2019.
