The Citadel

There's an indie animation project called Fly that launched its Kickstarter campaign today, and it's a piece of art that I really want to see get made! It's a story about magical boys and black and queer experiences. The character designs and art style are really good, the themes are interesting, and overall it just seems like a really cool project.

Legendborn:Basically everything booktok thinks it is-YA fantasy novel series with a fmc in a love triangle between a blonde goody two shoes boy and a black haired broken but fixable alternative boy except the fmc in question is a black girl who's written by a black woman author and therefore beats the nonexistent substance and shallow supposedly 'relatable' female protagonist allegations and her male love interests are both healthy options and have their own internity as well.Specific magic system is arthurian mythos and it contains commentary on how Bree aka our mc tackles taking on an archetype traditionally held by white men!

The Secret Saturdays:Underrated 2000s Cartoon Network show that sadly faded into the background and got cancelled.The plot is a family of cryptozoologists embarking on adventures involving cryptids which according to actual irl people in cryptozoology fields is VERY researched and accurate and it was inspired by old school Hanna Barbera.The mc Zak is a black dad white mom biracial kid where his parents avoid racist tropes common in those types of interracial pairings and the tone of the series balances the fun parts and the dark parts super well!

Storm Hawks:Yet another niche and tragically cancelled 2000s toon!The titulary team consists of a bunch of orphan kids living on a science fantasy world named Atmos and the storylines and characters are pretty cliched in the best way possible as the narritive writes along on fondness towards them and the best character in the entire series in my very correct opinion is Piper,a peppy and headstrong nerdy black girl with a thing for crystals and heavily implied bisexuality through chemistry with both the quirked up white boy protagonist she's the right hand woman to and a goth girl antagonist she had toxic villainess x heroine yuri with

The Lunar Chronicles:Far off future fairy tale reimaginings that (mostly) do the retellings part right.Each book is through the pov of the respective allegorical fairy tale girl protags and it's pitting women against eachother and love triangles free-However,i must absolutely warn you against it suffering from ye old classic 'younger girl,always at least slightly older boy' pandemic,including an absolutely disgusting case of a sixteen year old and a twenty year old.Tlc debuted through 2012-2015 era where that kind of age gap or lbr,grooming was painfully normal and i only still put it here because it has genuinely good writing for the most part and 2/4 of the leads are women of color,specifically chinese and black and one's a 'Black Snow White' trope while the other is a cyborg Cinderella who's robotic parts are explicitly prosthetic limbs and a disability

The Hollow(Netflix) and Glitch Techs:Sorting these together since they fall into similar categories and were only allowed to run for two seasons(always the most potential filled shows the cancellation beams shoots at😞).These are both sci-fi series' but Glitch Techs is goofier and more lighthearted while The Hollow is a dramedy involving tons of teen angst.GT is about an organization taking on responsibilities of solving problems caused by video games and their glitches not keeping themselves contained to their sources and TH is about a trio of superpowered anmesiac weirdkids waking up in a mysterious room and going from there together

Kipo and The Age Of Wonderbeasts/Kataow:A post-apocalyptic solarpunk and animal mutations focused animated show starring a blasian girl named Kipo Oak who's mega altruistic and unserious and saves and helps further create the new world through that.Her two best friends are Benson Mekler,a blerd who provides sick beats and bags a boyfriend,and Wolf,a younger black girl who gets adopted by Kipo as her little sister and is portrayed as snarky and pessimistic but for good reasons and sympathetically/positively.Very sweet story that hits a lot of emotional spots and gives cool ass action

Summer Camp Island:Sugary and fluff packed writing cartoon taking place on an anthropomorphic animals dimension where all kinds of magic exists and will either give you a really good show to look back on when you get older or probably remind you of ones you used to watch often when you were a kid

Butterfly Soup and Pom Gets Wifi:Both games created by Brianna Lei!Pgw is a simplistic silly game of a pomeranian on an adventure to get back her wifi and BS and it's Sequel Butterfly Soup 2 are coming of age stories centering asian-american teenage queer girls' experiences,struggles,issues,mudanities,solidarity and connections

Hylics(and Hylics 2!):Surrealist horror -adjacent rpg's.They're best experienced blind and not meant to be sensical anyway so just dive in!

We Know The Devil and Heaven Will Be Mine:Wktd features three teenage girls going through the indie horrors of battling against the god and the devil themselves and Hwbm feautures three adult women dealing with what you'd expect from space mecha pilots

Foot 2 Rue:If you love soccer,troubled kids of color who're going through shenanigans basically 24/7,multiple major black female characters,struck through development plot wise and character wise,humor always hitting the spots and healthy main m/f romances,then F2R is calling to you!

Hemlocke Springs:She's a synth/bedroom pop fusion musician who's songs and aesthetics styles are similar to more popular by internet indie standards singers except specifically drawn from black womanhood,black femininity,black girl whimsy and misogynoir

Midnight Burger:Interstellar time-traveling diner podcast.'Nuff said

The one thing Leif is actually worried about is Gloria losing faith. Gloria. And on some levels it’s because they all care about each other, but I feel like Leif bringing it up at all is more about losing purpose. Gloria gives everything they do purpose. She’s the glue that holds them together, the lodestone that points them in the right direction. Before Gloria — Leif, Caspar, and Ava were just three people cohabitating in a really cool diner. But Leif could and did leave at one point prior to the pilot. And even beyond their family dynamic, Leif needs Gloria because she keeps him honest.

Ava doesn’t care that Leif was an engineer initially, she cares that she was right about him being an engineer. Caspar and Leif have been together in the diner the longest and yet they knew almost nothing about each other. But as soon as Gloria caught wind of the many layers of Leif Torvaldson, she wouldn’t stop digging and she wouldn’t let him hide. And can you imagine how equal parts horrifying and liberating that was? Because it sounds like Leif’s parents were absentee, there without being there really, sending him out to sell weed at 13? I guess? Lmao. But Gloria sees him and likes/loves him for all his faults. Caspar gives Leif shit for killing John Wilkes Booth. You know who doesn’t give him shit for that? Gloria! She only gives him shit when Leif puts them in the crosshairs of the government and endangers the diner. Otherwise he’s free to make insane weapons so long as he uses them responsibly and cleans up after himself.

So lots of Danny Phantom fics have Danny getting summoned across dimensions, visiting the DC or Marvel or whatever universes.

One thing that seems a bit silly to me is that he's always either High King Phantom (and no one jokes about a ghost king called Phantom???) or he's Danny, and someone makes a joke about "wow that's a really normal name for a death god".

Also other powerful interdimensional entities get cool names like Trigon or Dormammu.

I imagine those are just... regular names where they're from, like Steve or John. So Danny should get a cool name too! At least from the POV of the heroes/mortals/living.

Danny could be translated as Danyih, Dunyir, D'Nii, etc.

Phantom could be Fantomo (I've seen this one a lot), Faitome, Fyentom (which also works with sounding more like Fenton).

IDK I just think Danny shouldn't be a normal name across every universe in the multiverse, and even if it is, of course the magicians and cults are going to assume it's something a bit more mystical. And so when Danny introduces himself, they don't realise his name is literally the ghost equivalent of "John Human".
