i think a lot of people have parsed the idea of a "male loneliness crisis" as being specifically about men struggling to find romantic companionship. i think that's often not what men mean when they say it. and i see people talk past each other because of it
i actually do believe that many men are lonely in a gendered way. i think they have accurately identified an issue. socially approved male behavior kind of requires men to be shitty friends
they have no use for women they don't want to fuck, and female "friends" they can't fuck get dropped pretty fast. so about 50% of the population is written off by default
and then they can't be too emotional or too intimate with their male friends, lest they be perceived as feminine or gay by male peers. so the friendships they do allow themselves to have are rather shallow
it's just that this is a self-inflicted problem. and moreover, it's a problem rooted in the idea that it's better for men to suffer in this way than to be perceived/treated as a woman or a gay man (i.e. inferiors)
the way to end the male loneliness crisis would be for men to choose to be good friends to the people around them. and if they don't want to do that, well.
this is not to say that women and other non-men don't suffer from loneliness – there are broader social factors driving loneliness in general – but i do actually think men are correct when they say that their gender plays a role in their loneliness
it's just that they hate us more than they want to be happy and loved
i still don’t understand what the difference is between a strike and a ball ❤️
this is making me cry

Shout out to the phrase “I’m going to become the joker” for capturing a very specific and real emotion
when the blackberry bushes have thorns to discourage mammals from monopolizing the consumption of their fruits and encourage birds to spread their seeds but they don’t know that the mammal in question is ME #notdiscouraged

i don't actually give a fuck whether fatness is an indicator of health because health shouldn't indicate a moral high ground. being healthy isn't some pinnacle of human achievement, it's not morally superior. and being unhealthy isn't a moral failing and shouldn't mean you're less worthy of kindness, justice, and a good life. signed, a chronically ill person who will never be "healthy" at any weight.
soooo many people are rbing this with tags like "yeah! weight is not an indicator of health!" my friends, i beg you to actually read the post.
it does not MATTER if weight is an indicator of health! health isn't an indicator of morality! even if being fat was unhealthy, it wouldn't matter! being unhealthy isn't wrong! and being healthy isn't the most correct, moral, peak state of human existence!
"you can be healthy and fat" rhetoric is exactly what this post is arguing against.
health is also largely out of your control. your stress levels, socioeconomic status, societal oppression if you experience it - all these and more impact your health much more than any choices you make. by all means strive to eat well, however that looks to you, move your body if possible, and look after yourself in general. but know that no amount of effort can guarantee health, and illness is not caused by insufficient efforts at 'wellness.'
If your dog is within 20 feet of me and I can see it legally you should be required to bring it over so I can say hi
it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen

a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.
did anyone notice that the zest of life has vanished, only the skeleton remains unexpectedly vile
I'm tired, have a twt repost
Hi, it’s me, your Flix Bus driver. I heard some of you back there asking why we’re on this dirt road in the middle of a cow pasture if this is supposed to be a direct line from Berlin to Munich. To that I say: you all need to mind your own damn business and look at the fucking moo cows.
can anyone find the satiric newspaper headline that might have been something other than the onion that was along the lines of “‘This Is More Relevant/Timely Than Ever,’ Says Theater Company About to Put on Oldass Play Worse Than Has Ever Been Done Before”

when i was a kid my Getting To Sleep technique was visualizing a child-sized shriveled up mummy with big piercing eyes that would stand silhouetted in the doorway & stare at me & probably attack if i so much as opened my eyes after getting into bed & this technique caused me to develop a lifelong nighttime-induced paranoia & it still takes me 2 hours to fall asleep. so i wouldnt recommend that
Call me whatever names you wish, but I think this is a much better (and healthier) attitude than “anyone under 18 should never be allowed to see any sexual imagery ever”
(For reference: this was at the Tom of Finland exhibition, containing actual, queer, kinky af pornography. There were definitely some young people there, perhaps in their late teens. There was even a parent with their baby who was probably too young to understand anything at all. And guess what, all those people are probably going to be fine.)
[ID: a sign saying “Please note: there is no age limit, but the exhibition is not recommended for children due to the explicit sexual imagery it contains. Parental or guardian discretion is advised.”]
Hey this is a pretty cool approach maybe we should take that to the Internet instead of trying to invade the privacy of millions of adults because some parents can't parent their kids
