in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME

I'm gonna live and draw by this now, thank you

all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.

I hate when I have a drawing idea but it’s not really an idea and it’s really just a specific vibe that I want to portray but I can’t even. Imagine what that would *look* like so I just sit here listening to music staring off into space trying to think how I could possibly draw this inexplainable vague vibe that I have..
a severe thunderstorm warning that doesnt follow through is worse than orgasm denial

one time I went over to a friend's house and their housemate was making paper in the living room, and we saw this big tub full of water they were using to dissolve old scrap paper into a slurry, and everyone was immediately like "oh, you need scrap paper?" and started turning out their jacket pockets and producing expired coupons and bus tickets and crumpled receipts and old shopping lists and whatever else they'd been carrying round with them for no good reason, and passing it all to the paper-making housemate to make sure it was suitable before it got torn up and dropped into the tub, while people took turns stirring the slurry with a big wooden stick. it was strangely ritualistic, like presenting an offering to some kind of temple elder for inspection before placing it in a watery shrine to be devoured and reformed. pulp for the pulp god.
if you're a pixel artist and never tried working with a reasonably accurate CRT filter I HIGHLY recommend it
i'm definitely reaching for colors and techniques that i otherwise wouldn't use
it feels a lot more sculptural
oh, and you can pull bullshit like this:
I mean, not necessarily. There are color palettes and techniques that look fantastic on a flat screen, but horrid on CRT.
Like, look at this kitty:
Looks great here, but with a CRT filter? Completely obliterated.
Pixel art that wasn't designed to look good on a CRT doesn't always look better on CRT.
He has to be built with a completely different approach:
Now that pride month is over, you can get 25% off when buying my pride pin buttons and stickers together!
And if you're still in the closet, I've overstocked on regular radiation pin buttons and glow-in-the-dark sticker sheets, so enjoy 50% when you buy them together!
do other countries do the whole “leaving furniture you want gone on the curb for other people to just grab” or is that an american thing
The Dutch do it and it's called The King's Gift, but when Brits do it, taking the stuff is actually a crime called, wait for it, Theft By Finding.

this is probably the worst place to give this take but i think that if you’re asexual due to medical/chemical/hormonal etc reasons (and you could theoretically be “cured”), you still count as asexual. like i don’t think the “why” matters very much.
I mean I'm a lesbian due to medical/chemical/hormonal reasons (used to be bi, grapefruit-sized ovarian cyst exploded, no attraction to men since), people get very invested in the idea of their sexuality as 100% completely unchangeable. And I'm sure that's true for some people, but it's very silly of them to say that when sexuality is *potentially* changeable, the present state doesn't actually exist. That's like saying someone isn't a real [job] because they could theoretically get a different job.
hey i think you missed the subtext here that this post is about self-identification
Every mythical creature has a natural counterpart meant to balance them out. Elves and dwarves, werewolves and vampires, etc. Humans have just discovered they too have a counterpart.
It was the neandthals but due to prehistoric humans breeding with them have somehow become the magical apex
Every mythical creature has a natural counterpart meant to balance them out. Elves and dwarves, werewolves and vampires, etc. Humans have just discovered they too have a counterpart.
And all it took was just enough advanced mathematics courses to make sense of it.
Well.
Abstract Algebra, at least.
You start with some examples, and you look at how they interact with each other. Not just the social interactions, but the ecological, the developmental, and even economical.
You could say they cancel out. If we want to simplify it like it's only a two-way interaction.
Like an additive inverse.
So when we were sat down with yet another duopoly outsider group (what they were is not important, beyond being outside of the usual mess), and were talking about balancing acts, they brought up something that should have seemed obvious.
All our internal struggles, our wars, our vicious arguments and escalations that periodically threaten our existence.
We're our own counterpart. At least, in this reality.
Like the additive identity.
Then, like a couple of assholes, the outsiders left. Continuing their journey through the different realities.
We are only balanced out, negated, by ourselves.
Of course, this is likely oversimplifying things. I mentioned this idea to a microbiologist friend of mine, and her conclusion was that we're more like an autoimmune disorder. That it's only in the absence of an external regulator, like an existential threat, that we cancel ourselves out.
An elf that overheard us muttered something about ensuring no such threat ever arises as they left the café. I don't think they meant for anyone to hear it, but oh well.
I should get another cookie. They're tasty with today's coffee.
maybe this is insensitive of me but i find it really funny that the human behavioural response to being sufficiently bored and isolated is to devise increasingly creative ways to harm our bodies and risk our lives just to have something to react to. and no small amount of innovation has been achieved this way. yeah sorry but if you don't give me enough treats and puzzles i'm going to start hurting myself for fun.
"you're going to hurt yourself badly doing that" actually i'm very good at it. i've had lots of practice you see.
every time you make art of any kind, a stat that is not visible to the player goes up. also, this is the most important stat in the game
does singing in the shower count as art
does a strong as fuck ice mummy have ice powers
does writing fanfiction count as art
don't make me say the mummy thing again

Aliens meet the human cartographer, whose job is to create detailed physical maps in case the ship's digital systems ever fail. In their spare time, the human also enjoys drawing eerily realistic "supernatural" monsters, creatures they insist are completely fictional.
The crew is horrified when they discover one of the sketches is an anatomically perfect depiction of their world's apex predator, a creature the human has never seen, never been told about, and should have no possible way of knowing exists.
Humans are weird #3
Humans will gather around when someone play's music even if they don't know the song/person.
