But compared to the two people whose involvement folks generally acknowledge (Kakudou and Konaka), she is just so incredibly invisible to the fandom. And it is kinda insane to me.

Appmon's writers could be worse in some other aspects, but their bravery is unmatched in the entire Digimon anime franchise.

Mind you, this is the boy who's craved to be challenged his whole life, so much so that he got manipulated and groomed into a military organization because of it

This is also the same boy who can't fucking express his feelings verbally in a normal straightforward way to save his life

So him declaring his rivalry to Tomoro is pretty much his way of saying how special Tomoro is to him and that he wants to keep competing with him

But yeah, no, sure it's just a Typical Shonen Rivalry

Like i'm very surprised you think this is so special and atypical when

(Attempting to be) Cool emotionally constipated Rival that wants to be stronger and beat protagonist x Protagonist that gets obsessed with saving rival from a dire and dark situation

However, what I meant to say was I don't want that scene to be brushed off just because it's a pretty typical shonen rivalry and acting as if Raito's character was reduced in any way because of it when to me, this development is really consistent with Raito's character from what they've set up so far

Is it pretty standard fair as far as shonen rivalries go? Yes, you could say that

Does that mean it's bad? In this specific instance, I think not

I'm just sooo used to this dynamic that I have actually growed a bit tired of it and expected something else, especially when the seiyuu said that their relation was beyond a normal rivalry. Show me, then 😭 because this is classic rivalry

Amazing how they managed to do such a satisfactory, touching and heartrending story about Maki in only 1 episode. Truly reminds how powerful the direction, writers and animators of this series can be. Panjyamon... and Maki's feelings... the words that couldn't reach the other... or maybe they did...

As for episode 33, I feel a bit better about everything BUT.....
