Ok part 2 of me taking this crack theory of Zoro being an eternal log pose and turning it into a real discussion (Pt 1)

4. His head is emphatically shaped like a Log Pose.

For any dub watchers who didn't know, YES, Sanji calls Zoro "mosshead", but in sub he calls him a SPECIFIC type of moss, ie, marimo, ie,

"The National Treasure"

Yes, in Japan these specifically round balls of moss were declared a "National Treasure" for their unique shape, even beloved by the Emperor. A parallel to the Marimo headed swordsman being the only strawhat to be sought out through reputation by a man who would become an emperor. Not only do I find the first mate being likened to a treasure interesting, but the round shape of his head being emphasized by this comparison when we see that log poses are specifically round and green. There are many greenheaded people in one piece, strangely enough, ones who we mainly see ON the grandline, btw, not naturally born in any of the four seas, but only Zoro is given this epithet because his head is green AND round like a log pose.

Also, the fact that this is a feature often called out by his rival, Sanji. Before his history was revealed, Zoro called out Sanji's curly eyebrows, foreshadowing the deeper meaning. Vice versa, Sanji's jesting could be foreshadowing hidden as another running gag.

Also, if Wadou represents The Straight Path to Harmony, ie to One Piece, then it's VERY interesting this is the sword Zoro favors between his teeth, like the needle inside a log pose.

5. Objects incorporated into humans in One Piece are not new.

Another parallel to his rival, Oda once said the curls on devil fruits are a lot like Sanji's eyebrows in an SBS. Considering we now know he was genetically modified along with his siblings, there might be more credence to that than Oda just being silly. I know it's hard to tell with the helmet, but Vinsmoke Jajji/Judge doesn't have those eyebrows, so we know they didn't get it from him naturally, unless it just skipped a generation, though unlikely. Someone has already theorized why the abilities the quintuplets have is so similar to devil fruit powers is because they were imbued with "factors" from those fruits. Similarly maybe his lineage was bestowed something with nat. Maybe something or someone that would be born a couple generations down? The same way Shirahoshi, one of the big 3 weapons, was prophesized to be born with generations before it happened?

6. His mother's name is Tera

While it's theorized Zoro's mother's name is named after a gambling term, like the rest of his family, I believe she is actually named after the Earth in latin, just like how Sanji's mother's name is Sora, which means "Sky" in japanese. Considering his natural rival can fucking fly and most powerful combo is named "airport" and then Zoro himself is notoriously known post-ts for having difficulty reaching opponents, is often likened to plant life, and self proclaimed King of the Underworld, ie, of those placed in the Earth, AND his ancestor's surname AND the name of his village AND his dojo is named after "the land of endless vearth", the moon, and is just the most grounded member of the crew, I think it's fair to say he's supposed to represent the earth or rather land in general. Also, I don't think it would be too out of the realm to say he could be geographically honed in to the most sought after piece of land in the world, Raftel.

7. Being compared to Moss in general

Ok, I just found this out!!!! Moss was once considered to be a "Natural Compass." People used to believe that moss only grew on one specific side of a tree, so you would know which way would be north or south just by looking at which side it was on. However, this turned out to be false as moss will grow on any side of a tree, but I think it's too coincidental that this title of "Natural Compass" would be given to our first mate. By itself, it may just be a joke poking at his directionless, but given all the other clues, it would make a lot of sense. Log poses in general aren't normal compasses, they're tied into either the nearest piece of land or specific places it's been eternally "set" to. None of them purely point North.

8. Luffy is the only one seen breaking log poses in the series.

Luffy has freed just about every crewmember, not just from their previous precadiments, but from their haunting pasts as well. If Zoro's directionless really is a passed-down ability that constantly pulls him to Raftel, then there is no doubt that the one who would free him from such a curse is Luffy.

Of course, this would be like ep 3000 before we even confirm this let alone before the end of that whole angsty 500+ episode saga so we'll just see in the next twenty years! (If we make it that far so.....

Ok, this gag theory has been out for a HOT minute, but after rewatching this series for the umpteenth time,

I am CONVINCED it's true and here's my proof:

1. The concept of living compasses already exist in one piece, one of which is The South Bird from Jaya.

Who gets paired up w this bird for nearly a third of an arc? The ever lost marimo, himself, Zoro.

Repeatedly and hilariously, he still continues to end up next to the Merry, rip, which is exactly why this isn't exactly looked at as anything other than a gag, just Oda showing how hopelessly directionless this man is. However, isn't it weird that he's not only THE ONLY one that gets paired up with this geographically honed-in bird, but with whom only says "Jū", which in japanese means "Free"? What is the One Piece if not a symbol of ultimate freedom? Hmmmmm, SOUNDS LIKE FORESHADOWING TO ME.

2. He gets lost in a specific way.

Yes, many ppl end up going in circles and ultimately ending up in the same spot over and over again, so isn't it safe to assume it's the same w Zoro? Well, there is another directionless member of The Strawhat Crew, Luffy.

This is, of course, what leads Nami to be the very next member to join, it being obvious they wouldn't get in spitting distance of anywhere without her. However, unlike Zoro, if you tell Luffy how to get there (with explicit instruction) he can make it on his own. Meanwhile, Zoro....

right in front of him:

a ship...

a flight of stairs...

A door.

A FUCKING. DOOR.

Again, it could just be a normal gag, BUT WE DON'T DO NORMAL GAGS IN ONE PIECE.

3. He has the sword, Wadou Ichimonji.

Most have attributed his directionless to one of Zoro's swords, either his cursed blade, Sandai Kitestsu, or the treasured katana he inherited from Kuina because of its meaning,

"The Straight Path To Harmony"

I think this is pretty on the nose, as it's highly speculated that once the One Piece is found, the World will be united and at peace. Plus, the sword is known for its white hilt and saya or sheath, which we know is the color Luffy turns into with his sun god look, the man fated to find the One Piece. However, I don't think the blade is actually pulling Zoro in that direction, but that the sword is meant for Zoro and just fits him. We know swords choose their owner thanks to Sandai's history. Anyone can use a sword but it may not stay in their hands. A phenomenon that has occurred with Zoro's third katana constantly being replaced. I believe just how Sandai chose Zoro and doesn't curse him like their previous owners, Wadou chose Zoro.

Who better to hold the "Straight Path To Harmony" than a man who seems to always take the straightest, shortest, and most immediate path toward the fated piece that will bring harmony?

This is also the same reason that Zoro wouldn't be able to navigate them to One Piece just on his own and why they would still need Nami to navigate them.

He'd take the straightest route.

Through, fog, whirlpools, rocks, over islands, ships, walls, people, anything in the way, he'd cut (pun intended) straight through to get there which I don't think Sunny has the equipment for. Plus, there are plenty of places they gotta stop off at before they get there. However, there will most likely be a time that, together, Nami as the navigator and Zoro as the compass, they will be able to navigate to Raftel/Laugh Tale and ultimately the One Piece....

.....Also his hair is green. Just saying. 🤷🏽
