fun fact: debates about if being transgender is a choice or not are irrelevant, because the fundamental truth is of bodily autonomy - a right that should never be seen as conditional or requiring a suitable, immutable condition.
people who are trans deserve the right to transition, not because it’s a medical treatment or because dysphoria can be classified as a mental illness but because we’re human beings who should be allowed to do whatever the fuck we want to our own bodies! this is a basic human right!

This is an EXTREMELY blessed post! And accurate! When I first moved out I was so excited for my new place I slept on the floor and had my tv there and that was it. Loved it. You grow and you build and you gain and you lose. I lost that place and everything in it. Now I have a new place with new things and it’s very much home.
In the future, there is a small, quiet room that is just yours, where you are safe and you are free. In that room your shoulders will finally start to come down from around your ears. Nobody can come into that room unless you let them. In that clean quiet place, you will work and you will study. You will love and you will heal.

It's scary to be transgender in the world right now but if you're transgender I love you and we have to stick together and keep fighting and keep living and keep loving
The sooner everyone accepts that all trans people are always going to be Schrödingers gender, the better off we will all be. Transmascs and men are seen as women when it’s convenient and men when it serves others. Transfems are seen as women when it’s convenient and men when it serves others. Non-binary people are seen as trans when it’s convenient and “cis adjacent” when it serves others. Intersex trans people are seen as a strange deviant third sex when convenient and as quirky brainwashed cis people when it serves others. There is no box they won’t put us into to achieve their goals. The goal is to be right, regardless of how contradictory the path is that led them there. It doesn’t matter what you really are. They will see us as whatever they want that reinforces whatever narrative they’re trying to spin about us at the time. There is no such thing as transphobia, misgendering, degendering, ungendering that only one kind of trans person suffers from. We’re all Schrödingers transgender.
alright great the next thing seems to be fearmongering about trans people "no longer having SSNs". if you see some post saying you should enter your social security number into a random ass website to "check if its still there" for the love of Gd do not do that, its a scam / way to steal your identity. check your ssa.gov account or create one if you want to check in on like your benefits or anything, go to associated gov websites, but this seems to be another attempt to stoke hysteria among scared trans people with no evidence so far, as far as i've seen,,
Never act in a panic from something you read on the Internet
Take five minutes to calm down and pester a friend about it, have them look the thing up for you if you're freaking out/panicking

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Idk man it’s so easy to get bogged down in all the bullshit online but when my then-6 year old cousin found out I was trans he said “ok” then corrected my grandma when she misgendered me. I was once the third between a gay man and a lesbian. Two lesbians once invited me back to their place when I presented as a man. I met an AMAB nb butch who looked strikingly to outsiders like a cis man and it was one of the more sapphic experiences I’ve had. I nervously wore a boydyke shirt to pride and got 3 different cis-looking femme folks tell me they loved my shirt. I once told a trans group at a protest that any pronouns were fine for me and one person said “wow, I’m impressed and intimidated by people like that. I don’t know that I could be that chill with pronouns.” I once told a GNC friend I wished I could wear a type of “opposite” gender clothing after I had already transitioned and so it would be associated with my AGAB and he said “You could just do it.” I’ve had cishet men fight cops for me before. The first time I had a doctor ask me if my name was different than what was on my forms I had to try not to cry. Last week, a phone call with a doctor’s office where I am generally cis passing asked unprompted if my name listed is what I want to be called. It touched me then too. I told a lesbian friend once I felt like my attraction to men AND women both felt gay. She said “makes sense.” And we moved on. I go by different pronouns in different circles. I’ve had gay women love my facial hair. I’ve had gay men like my tits. It’s all out there, I promise. It can be hard to find it but I promise there is community like you and community who likes you. And it’s more messy and beautiful than tumblr discourse makes it out to be.
These are from the last 8 hours only. And not all of them.
We're here! We're here we're here we're here!

When trans women are mocked and made into jokes in the media, I get very upset, and I am often told “Kay, you can’t go through life getting offended every time someone makes a joke.” And I sputter and object but they don’t hear me. So I want to be clear for once, about why the jokes make me angry.
I learned to hate myself for being transgender before I knew I was transgender. I laughed at the jokes in stand up comedy routines, and prime time sitcoms, and animated comedy shows, and in the movies, and in books, and in games, laughing at trans women for existing, about “men in dresses”, about people who “got their dicks chopped off”, and I learned to think that was worthy of ridicule.
And then a day came when I felt a pang of envy at what my female classmates were wearing and I repressed it, and felt guilty, and a day where I felt incomplete because I had no breasts and I repressed it and I felt disgusting And a day when I realized the only images of romance that made me feel anything showed two women together and I repressed it and I felt like a monster And a day when I realized I felt sick when I looked at myself in the mirror after every shower before work and couldn’t bear to look at my own face, and I hated myself. And then there came a day when I hated myself so much, and I thought I could never understand why, and so I just wanted it all to end. And it was just a miracle that I swerved my car back into my lane in time.
And all of it started with a joke that I heard on TV, and then kept hearing from all the voices from the ether, over and over and over, worming an idea into my mind before I was old enough to realize I was absorbing it, the idea that a man in a dress is funny, and that changing your body parts makes you a freak, and that women who have penises instead of vaginas are liars and hurt men. And they’re still making these jokes. And somewhere out there right now, just like all those years ago, there is a little girl in a t-shirt and cargo shorts with buzzed off hair watching the TV, hearing that joke and absorbing it without knowing it, who will someday have to pry herself apart to tear it out of her head, just like I did.
That is, if she doesn’t kill herself first.
I know this is a really heavy post but if you read it and you appreciated it, I’d appreciate it in return if you reblogged it. This is really important to me and I want people to read it and understand it. Thank you.

HEY.
HEY YALL.
USAMERICAN DEMOCRATS SUCCESSFULLY REMOVED EVERY ANTITRANS RIDER FROM EVERY FUNDING BILL
Spread the fucking word because LORD knows democrats fucking suck at spreading it themselves and will fail once again to inform their base
But just in case you’re sitting there going “the Dems aren’t doing anything,” THEY ARE
IT IS JUST SLOW
AND MOSTLY INVISIBLE
BUT THEY ARE
The bills are still subject to a final vote, but trans Americans can be relieved for now.
A definite breath of relief for now! Though, the bills still must be voted on before the end of the month and if that fails, another government shutdown will follow.
The tough situation is that these bills are still ass, and one in particular is about DHS:
“Some aspects of the remaining appropriations bills may still be hard for Democrats to support. The Homeland Security bill does not include deep cuts or broad reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Democrats and many others have criticized ICE policies as brutal, especially after the killing of Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer this month.
DeLauro issued a statement saying she shares her colleagues’ “frustration with the out-of-control agency” and that they should vote based on what’s “best for their constituents,” NBC reports. But “the Homeland Security funding bill is more than just ICE,” she added. A lapse in funding would mean Transportation Security Administration agents would work without pay, and Federal Emergency Management Administration services could be delayed, she said.
Republicans have agreed to hold a vote on the Homeland Security bill separately from the others, “which would give Democrats an opportunity to oppose it, without moving Washington toward another shutdown,” according to NBC.
This is a good move for trans Americans, but do not allow them to trade us for a shrug over ICE funding.
I have a research background in weight stigma and I currently work in mental health, often with LGBTQ+ clients.
I've met nonbinary people who struggle with disordered eating because they only ever see androgyny depicted as featureless thinness.
I've met trans women who struggle with disordered eating because they've internalized the idea that girls are meant to be thin, dainty, and delicate.
I've men trans men who struggle with disordered eating, because they feel women are allowed to be soft/curvy but men need to be muscular or thin and flat.
So many trans people are convinced that weight loss is the key to appearing as their desired gender, even when they want radically different gender presentations.
The societal idealization of thinness and fatphobia falsely invades and derails people's idea of what their "ideal body" should look like.
The social effects of privileging thinness are so damaging. Like, it's hard enough to deviate from expected gender roles and binary sexuality but now fat people have to do it on hard mode
“We can never throw enough people overboard to win approval from our enemies.”

where’s that article by james frankie thomas where he says like “prior to my transition there was only one kind of sex i wanted to have. and i thought i could never have it” because i am about to blow these people’s minds
i found it 😌 the article was published on Slate and here’s JF’s commentary on it
i have gotten some very odd anons about this post that i’m choosing to ignore. but i am going to double down on this. no i don’t care if girls watch gay porn or imagine themselves as a gay person or wonder what it would be like to have gay sex. so many people imprison themselves by thinking they could never be gay and/or trans. well i’m telling them they better watch out. being gay and/or trans is real. and it could happen to YOU. as a matter of fact i sincerely hope it does
