Maggie, the sweetest baby with a beautiful smile! loves to play outside. 💕💕
SLC Punk!
The first photo is from 1956. It shows a Black woman watching members of the Ku Klux Klan (a terrorist, racist, far-right organization focused on white supremacy) walking along a sidewalk in Montgomery, Alabama (USA). I couldn't find the photo's author, but most sources state that it was taken in 1956.
The second photo shows members of the Patriot Front group (a white supremacist and nationalist group, formed in 2017, that openly advocates what they call "American Fascism") traveling on the subway during the 250th anniversary of the U.S. independence in Washington D.C., while a Black woman watches them. The photo is by photographer Cheney Orr, taken on July 4, 2026, 70 years after the first photo.

I would like to say as an editor that when I edit someone's work I am not thinking, "WOW what an idiot this person is, can't construct a sentence to save their life!!"
What I am thinking is, "does this mean what the author intends it to mean, and if not, how can we adjust it so it does?" and also usually, "wow I'm so glad I get to read this, what a privilege it is to help people say exactly what they mean to say."
I think a lot of people get frightened by the prospect of editing and I won't pretend there aren't some editors who come at the task with a suboptimal attitude but a good editor just wants to help. They want the piece to mean exactly what you intended it to mean when they're done. They do not, if they are worth their asking rate, want to scold you for being a bad writer. They do want to make you a better one. It is a helping profession.

Did you know that trans women who advertise selling sex are often beholden to secondary checks by escort site owners, who judge whether they will be placed in a "male trans/crossdresser/TV" category or a "female trans" category based on appearance? Have you considered how this simultaneously misgenders many of these sex workers and confuses their client base, limiting their income?
This is one of a thousand things that trans women who sell sex have to deal with that makes them uniquely vulnerable. The issue is not merely individual clients being transmisogynists and targeting trans women, but structural transmisogyny combining with whorephobia that creates worse outcomes for any transfeminine sex worker. It's the laws requiring trans women to disclose their transness, the (relatively) safer brothels who only employ cis women, the prostitutes' cautions and criminal citations given to trans women hooking on the street that keep them out of other work, the support workers who have never been trained to support sex workers who are trans, the fetishization of trans women combined with the objectification of sex workers in general, the domestic abuse shelters that won't take them... we could go on forever.
When you hear about a case where a violent client assaults or kills a trans sex worker, think not only about the injustice done by the perpetrator but the thousand injustices his victim endured to leave her vulnerable to him in the first place.
even after all this time i think to myself "what's wrong with me" and i have chace crawford's voice in my head saying "nothing's wrong with you"

(I got ambushed yesterday at the dog park by a woman who was giving out Christian literature, so I did some art with it. Genuinely that woman could have had no way of knowing what she did for me)

Spent a ridiculous amount of time last night obsessively editing my hand written zines in Photoshop to take away any tiny blemishes so they were definitely readable.
Whatever. Understand or don't.
i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
