I’ve been putting together a ghoul costume for the ritual I’m going to this fall, and I figured I could share the different costume things I’ve found, along with example ghoul images. This won’t include custom made stuff (such as the tailcoats and the pants), or common stuff (such as the button down shirts), but it should cover just about everything else.

(Quick caveat that some of the linked stuff might be expensive or have limited availability, but as far as I can tell, it’s a near exact match to what the ghouls have, and can serve as a jumping off point for alternatives).

Suspender Buttons

This one is less “this is what the ghouls use” and more of a recommendation. Since the suspenders need buttons to attach to, any pants used will either need to have suspender buttons included or sewn onto them. Another option is to use clip on buttons, which are more informal but can be transferred between pants as needed and don’t require any sewing.

Feeling down about it is totally valid! You are not a bad fan for feeling sad when your favourite band or any other franchise goes on a break!

(Though feeling sad that a break is happening is absolutely no excuse for some of the horrendous comments/behaviour I've seen online, but that's a different conversation...)

I do think some of it comes from a fear this community will disappear during the hiatus.

Yeah it is true the fandom likely will lose some folk, But it also will probably mean some of the more toxic elements will fade out too.

It is however worth remembering that fandom is an active thing, if you want a community to last it helps if you interact with it, contribute to it or encourage/interact with the folk who are creating new things.

So Create fanworks; write your fanfictions; make your cosplays; get involved with zines or other fan projects; go to tribute acts*, fan events like phantasm or ghostcon*, or convention fan meets* etc.

*personally I would highly recommend these if you're missing the rituals, just getting into a room with a bunch of other ghesties in person can really help.

and yes. i also think that checking out other bands that fit the same vibe as Ghost is a perfect way to 'fill' your ghost sized hole lmao. personally I don't have a problem with Tobias taking a break (the man DESERVES it)
