Apparently someone got their car stuck on the light rail tracks at Mt. Baker. For those unfamiliar this is 35 feet up in the air
First test flight of a flying car by Mazda partially a success
I feel like the Arizona license plate should take some place in our analysis of whatever in the goddam fuck we’re looking at here
...that's a Utah plate
The Good Place really went off when they had Eleanor talk about her mother changing. Like, they really hit the nail on the head.
like THIS??
This is EXACTLY how it feels to see someone you love, someone who should've treated you so much better than they did, grow and change for the better. Like, part of you knows that they're better now and you shouldn't be mad, but part of you is like, "Then why didn't they do this before? Where was this change when I needed it? Was the reason why they were so awful...me?".
it's okay to appreciate their change and still be angry for the impact they had on you before they changed - you're not under an obligation to feel different about the past, even if they've outgrown their old self and are apologetic about it - how you process your anger is your own deal, and their change doesn't invalidate it
This episode hit very hard for me as someone who's mother has since gotten a lot better (though exactly to what extent those changes are premanent remains to be seen). I found myself continuously questioning why. Realistically the answer is always that that person couldn't change at that point in time, and it was never about you, but that doesn't make your anger and hurt any less important. You don't have to forgive them, regardless of what changes they have made. You are allowed to process these emotions for as long as you need.
do not go to Dr. Kenneth Wolf for top surgery
I went to him because he was 1.) the cheapest possible option and since I needed crowdfunding that seemed best 2.) within driving distance of my friends who’d be able to host me. I didn’t have any complications and I don’t hate my results, so the fact that he stopped offering free revisions after COVID (including for people who had their surgeries before the pandemic) and ghosts everyone isn’t a huge deal personally. I do have moderate to severe dog-earring right in the middle my chest which limits what clothing I can wear and have inquired about possible revisions with other surgeons (so far no one has been willing to operate on other dr’s work and have told me I’d need to pay the price of a full secondary top surgery). Dr. Wolf famously ghosts all his patients after surgery and has strict weight limits.
HOWEVER I accompanied my friend to their top surgery at the University of Michigan last year that made Dr. Wolf’s entire process seem back alley and sketchy by comparison. My friend had extensive pre- and post-surgical monitoring and extreme sanitary precautions. Dr. Wolf just had me take off my shirt and slapped me on the operation table still wearing my street clothes and then scraped me up and sent me home the moment I regained consciousness. His bedside manner was offputting and uncomfortable. It has been impossible to contact him ever since, even to ask politely why my stitches look so different from his other results. Other people with much worse results have also been ghosted.
OH AND ALSO when I asked if he could swap my left and right nipples just for the hell of it he said “yeah sure lol” but apparently you’re not supposed to do that because there is the risk of like, manually metastasizing cancer cells. lol. I did ask for it and I think I am at very low risk for breast cancer but I do think a responsible surgeon should at least know about and warn you of that possibility before agreeing to it.

Tragedy alignment chart. Feel free to use, but please reblog if you do.
And of course the second part of the tragedy, which is: which quadrant did you think you were in vs. which one you were really in
repeat after me. humans are not inherently evil humans are not like a virus on this earth humans do not “deserve” to go extinct or anything like that. we are living breathing animals that deserve space just like every other creature on this planet. there’s just a tiny amount of us that have a fuck ton of money and power and they really suck
Omg "humans are a virus" pisses me off specifically sooooo much. If humans on earth were like anything in a body they would be bacteria. There are many bacteria in a person! We evolved to have bacteria in us!!! The bacteria NEED to be there to keep the body functioning. It's when bacteria behave in ways that disregard the health of the host that we have problems
Humans are animals like any other animal. We have the ABILITY to exist in harmony with our ecosystem. The current issue is like if 0.001% of the bacteria that help break down your food suddenly started forcing other bacteria to start eating your tissue instead
Or: Humans are not a virus infecting a body. Humans are symbiotic bacteria. The mindless hoarding of wealth is a bacteriophage
by Caretaker, Aug 4, 2015 So here's the thing - we humans are different throughout the world. Our point of view in life, our culture, our political ideology, our religion, our governance structure,...
So when the options which may have worked before such as petitions, marches, and writing a letter start to slow down their success rate, do you still continue doing them? Even after the success rate is 0% or extremely low? Or do you look at other options?
That is the diversity of tactics.
You do what you can in a peaceful manner to make life easier for everyone. But once the peaceful way of doing things suddenly don’t work, you have to assess your context of living and do something to help your situation and others’.
An indigenous land defender from the Gitimt’en Clan has described the life of a Warrior; “you expend all peaceful avenues first, and when all those fail it’s war”.

Anyway adults saying “I don’t know isn’t an answer” is part of the reason I learned to lie and bluff so well.
Really though, what was that about? I don’t know is a valid answer. It communicates very clearly that the child cannot answer your question, and therefore maybe needs more help understanding the question/situation. Why do you try and push them to give an answer they don’t have? That stresses them out and it makes them feel like they’re being punished for not knowing something.
i thought i was the only one with an “i don’t know” problem because my parents made it seem it was the strangest and also most horrible thing in the world. i genuinely didn’t know and they got angry and that only blocked my thoughts more which meant i didn’t know the answer to anything else.
THIS ^^^
Also “I don’t know” is a commonly used sentence for children with ADHD/Autism. We DON’T know why we can’t do our homework. We DON’T know why we can’t eat certain foods sometimes. We DON’T know why we forgot to do a chore. It’s really distressing when you genuinely don’t know and people think you’re just lying or indifferent
I think this is just a trend everywhere but I've been very frustrated this week by how much admin work is being outsourced to me as the patient/customer.
My orthodontist tells me I can make an appointment with the surgeon. I call the surgeon. They tell me I need a new referral. I call the orthodontist. They do a referral. I call the surgeon. Referral didn't come through. They tell me about their special unique system we have to use. I call the ortho again and walk them through the referral. I call the surgeon. They say the referral was missing some details so they have to do it again. I call the ortho.
The insurance company calls me about repair shops. I give them the name of the repair shop which I already gave them yesterday. They say they're not in their system but I can use them, but I have to call the repair shop to ask them to contact the insurance company. I call the repair shop and they say the insurance company is supposed to email them.
I feel like at a certain point these constant fetch quests become unreasonable?? Is it too much to expect these groups to communicate with each other instead of making me run back and forth between them???
Made this post and then the new property manager (who started on Monday and only finally emailed us today because I sent a vaguely professionally hostile email to her boss because I hadn't heard anything and was not convinced she existed) asked for a list of open action items which her predecessor should have had but apparently wasn't keeping track of, which I learned when I met her boss and provided her with the list of open action items, which I guess tragically died in a fire in the last 2 weeks since she was sitting at my kitchen table, being menaced by the skull. How many people's jobs am I doing now
The phrase arrived in my head so completely formed and concrete that I couldn’t believe it wasn’t already established in the lexicon, but at
It has a name!!!
Not to be rhe ten millionth person to say “USAmerican President Donald Trump Is An Incoherent Public Speaker Whose Train Of Thought Can Be Best Described As Scat Jazz” but I just remembered that when he talks at international events it is several dozen people’s job to translate what he’s saying and what he intends to say to world leaders in real time
And I desperately wish to hear how they do it
If anyone reading this isn’t fluent enough in English to understand the sentences that man says, please know that he has essentially mixed a number of adjectives and topics together in a hat and is pulling them out at random like a horrible children’s game
Like that waxy jaundiced bitch will straight up be like “J'étais sur internet l'autre jour – internet, la plus grande invention américaine. Et la Chine a “internet aussi. Pas un bon internet, pas comme le mien, j'ai un internet formidable. Les gens me disent : « Donald, ton internet est génial ! » On adore l'internet de Donald. Mais la Chine… Chine, Chine, Chine… And people will lose their minds
International translators have had this problem for A While - if they *don't* clean up what he says to sound coherent, they look like they're doing a bad job.

oh my god
I know, right?! These interpreters should get hazard pay for having to deal with him.
This was one of my introductions to military history. I was 14 and haven't ever really looked back. Big fan of star forts and Vauban.
Star forts like this were constructed after gunpowder became common in warfare! The elevated position plus the angled walls were designed to make it harder to just blow a hole in the wall with a big cannon, which is what happened to a lot of pre-gunpowder fortifications.

If you're struggling with the cost of living right now (reasonable), this is your PSA to...
Google universities/colleges near you.
If you can't get out to more than one, look up which one has the highest tuition.
Look-up when the graduation date is
Drive neighborhoods near the university the week before graduation
So much stuff gets left out on the curb. Wealthy college students tend to prioritize convenience over money, so instead of carefully reselling their perfectly good stuff, they frequently give it away or put it out with the trash because that's easier than moving, reselling, or donating. Take advantage of this.
I furnished pretty much my entire apartment from college giveaways and yardsales.
What I got for free:
Mattress and box springs
2 10 ft area rugs
The massive 9-drawer chest (that has a label on the back that it was custom-made and shipped across the country) that my TV sits on.
Two 13 x 2 ft raised garden beds
My desk - just sanded it down and refinished it.
Three short stools
An organizer rack
Watering can
Tommy Bahama outdoor cooler (retails for $350)
Chairs
Shelves
What I got for cheap:
Two futons for $50
Custom coffee table with storage for $25
Three tall stools for $30
Seeing all the tags where people are warning that picking stuff up OFF the curb is illegal in their area has the same vibes as the oranges in Grapes of Wrath, and I hope all your city councilmen get eaten by the live furniture from Monty Python.
It is a damn shame that is god is and I love boosters aren’t getting the same attention that phm and iron lung did. And it’s because people are not ready for black feminine rage. So please listen to the wonderful people telling you to see these movies IN THEATERS and for the love of god have a little media analyst in your brain asking you why these movies have the themes they do!!!!
